Full fecking credit to this guy. It's been an incredible return from injury.

Throughout his injury, I was fearing as to whether he would be able to get back into the team given Nani's excellent form, but it's games like today that make you realise what a fantastic all-round contribution he offers.

I was impressed. We have to remember he's out for so long but that was hardly noticeable today. He matched the effort of everyone and showed his willingness to attack from both sides. After the international break he should be even more match ready.

The opposition should worry because he's only gonna get sharper and faster with more games.

If his performance is to be considered outside of the fact he's only just match fit then IMO he was a bit shit.

Would much rather have Nani on the right and get a new left winger in. Valencia is an excellent squad player to have.

Piss off, Valencia is far too good to be a squad player. There are bugger all wingers out there who are better than him and wouldn't cost a fortune.

He looked tired and unfit, not surprisingly, but showed glimpses of his former self, thought he coped very well in the middle late on.

He started strongly, then seemed to tire and drift out of the game for the latter part of the first half and the beginning of the second. Then strangely, he came alive again when moved onto the left. Which is fantastic, as it allows he and Nani to interchange freely which can cause the opposition team a huge amount of troubles. Nani looked so much better as soon as he moved onto the right.

Piss off yourself you bellend

Nani is a better winger than him.

If it "costs a fortune" to get in a winger for the left then pay it.

Valencia isn't the best player available in our squad for the position he favours, thus he should be a squad player.

Valencia is more of a winger than Nani is. He always keeps himself very near to the line, and delivers crosses continuously.

Nani is a better winger than him.

They're very different players, as an out and out right winger, for width, Valencia is better than Nani. If you want someone who cuts inside and scores goals, it's Nani. There's absolutely no reason Nani can't play on the left and Valencia on the right

Who? Name me a left winger we could realistically get? Gareth Bale just signed a big new contract. There are feck all quality left footers out there right now.

Valencia is a fantastic right winger, and Nani is more than capable on the left. He's just back from an ankle break, it's hardly all going to click instantly.

What are you on about? Valencia is a fantastic winger, with him and Nani we have two of the best around, why would you want to drop him and bring someone else in?

Do you even have someone else in mind? Or is this blind transfer muppetry?

I didn't expect to see him starting a game so quickly following such a lengthy lay off.
If he can reproduce anything like last seasons form, then we are surely in for a successful couple of months ahead.

Not really that blind considering Douglas Costa was in the exec boxes today.

Work that one out hot shot.

Costa on the left, Nani on the right. Valencia available for rotation. Lovely stuff.

More likely to be all three available for rotation, 'hot shot'. Valencia is a fantastic member of our team, and after his performance last season it beggars belief that people are so quick to cast him aside.

He really wasn't that great last year.

He did better than most expected; but he was nowhere near as good as Nani has been since Jan last year.

All three won't be rotated in equal measure. Fergie will obviously have a preferred set up for big games.

Valencia will be the one to warm the bench.

I really hope this Costa stuff is true. The left wing really does need sorting out.

It's a crude way of looking at it but his goals and assists last year (considering he's playing for united) were average at best.

Nani bettered him off just half a seasons football.

Really? Well, Ronaldo scored 42 goals in a season, Rooney's never done that so he's shit then.

You can't just look at assists to say who played better. If Valencia plays a perfect cross to someone, but they feck up the chance, it's not an assist but it should have been. Valencia did very well for his first season last year. Valencia and he had a very good understanding between the two of them.

He looked very good out left and also in the middle of the park after the sending off.

Pathetic.

When did I say Valencia was shit?

This all started because I said I'd like united to keep Nani on the right (where he's better than Valencia) and for us to sign a left winger (which it looks lime we're trying to do) and then use Valencia as the squad player.

But to your Rooney/Ronaldo point, yeah Ronaldo is better than Rooney!? Now what?

Looked very much off the pace.

I suspect he was playing on adrenaline the last two games and it'll take him a while yet to return to his best.

Can't be easy with 6 months out.

It started when you said he wasn't all that great. He played a huge part in Rooney's biggest goal haul, something we've missed this season in a big way. Rooney himself has even said how great it is to have Valencia back in the team, but hey if Nani's got more assists let's stick him to the bench and sign someone else.

If Costa is coming it won't be to ditch Valencia to the bench, for all we know SAF could be planning on bringing him more central, or its just as likely he wants to rotate between the three of them. It's also worth noting that Costa apparently plays on more on the right too.

The Rooney/Ronaldo comparison was to point out how stupid your assertion was that Nani has more assists therefore Valencia should be dropped.

Thought he looked good there too. Might be an idea to put him there, and then Giggs and Nani can be put in their best positions, left and right, whenever we go 4 3 3 now.

Valencia was responsible for a fraction of Rooney's goals. The idea Valencia was behind Rooney's season is a redcafe myth. I think I read somewhere that Valencia set up 5 or rooney's goals last year. Outstanding.

Not only does Nani create more goals than Valencia, he scores a he'll of a lot more too. One the right wing Nani can go wide or come inside with equal ******, Valencia can go wide. On the left you halve Nani's potentcy.

If we sign Costa he'll play wide. Valencia will be benched.

Valencia is a decent enough player who I'm glad we have in a squad capacity. But I don't want him playing when the consequence is Nani shifting over to the left. Fine for now given our limited options but, signing a proper left winger would improve our first team dramatically next year.

Oh ye of little faith

Good to see him back although it's understandable the sort of performance he put it, i.e. a pretty conservative one. Like the fact he tried to move around the pitch a little as it allowed Nani the freedom to go where he wanted instead of doing his predictable come of the left flank and shoot stich.
