Watching Valencia on the left is painful. I really like him, and he has just come back from a horrible injury, but he should be strictly seen as a right winger. He does not have enough to his game to play elsewhere for United. This does not mean he is a bad player; he is an extremely effective right winger.

I love Valencia, reminds me a bit of Coppell. However, Nani is the better footballer but Valencia is very good at what he does.

Load of rubbish. He did all that you need to do on our left wing with Evra bombing on as the real left winger. For all Nani's ability he seems to find it difficult to pick the right option when he's out there, Valencia got on with it with no fuss.
I see what you mean - understated, simple game. Effective. Great attitude and gives us a bit more, badly needed, physique.
So Valencia can play on the left providing our full back does all the attacking and Nani will struggle to pick the right option out there (totally agree with this).

I on and off watched the first half and then had to go out today, came home, forwarded to the red card till the end of the game and I thought Valencia looked very good in that period. He came into the middle a couple times and looked a threat.
Guess for every player there will be some people that don't rate the player too much but, Valenica for me is such a big player for us, he is so powerful and really puts pressure on defenders and also such a bonus defensively as well.

Val had a great game, both from left and right. One thing I noticed about him was his reluctance to go for the ball wholesale. This is no doubt due to the horrendous injury he suffered. Hope he recovers from it mentally, and gets back to his old self. That will come with more games.

He's injury free, so more match training would be good for him. How many days are there between Ecuador's last game and our game against West Ham?

Anyway, I think two games and a place on the bench against West Ham could do him good in terms of match fitness. With Park back we could go 4-4-2 anyway with him and Nani on the wings, or have Giggs playing there since neither Giggs nor Park are involved in any international games.
I appreciate that, just feel it would be better if he was under the supervision of the United staff at the moment.

I'll preface this by saying I love the guy and think he could be the catalyst for us going on to win whatever we win this season, but how can such a painfully one footed, one dimensional player be so effective?!
What he does, he does very well.
Defenders must hate him. You know exactly what he's going to do it, yet he still manages to do it.

He was great today and could probably have had a much bigger impact had we played with both Rooney and Hernandez on from the start. Some of the balls we drilled into the ball after good play from Valencia would have been like candy for Hernandez.

I'm stunned at how well he's just waled straight back into it, not afraid to put his leg in or anything...like when Eduardo or Ramsey returned, you could see them fearing it happening again for a while, but Valencia is just straight back into how he was. Mental toughness, good thing.

There were times in the first half when he practically walked past their defence and then looked for a cross when he could have been taking a shot. Hopefully when he gets fully back in to the swing of things he'll be having a pop more.
I was thinking to myself in the first half what the future will be like when himself and Hernandez start playing together regularly. I see goals, lots of them.

Exactly. So simple, yet so effective. Nothing flashy, just shift it a few inches and whip the ball in. Impossible to defend against when he's on top of his game.
Strangely enough, I think he's improved since the injury. Fantastic today.
