Arsenal vs. Manchester United

Vermalen will be back.
edit:
last post on the prev page, didnt see ^^

4-4-2 with Rooney playing a bit deep would do..

If we must go for 4-3-3, I think the lineup should be

---------------------De Gea-----------------------
Rafael---------Ferdinand---Evans-----------Evra
-----Anderson-------Carrick------Giggs---------
-Valencia----------Rooney----------------Nani----

Subs: Lindegaard, Jones, Smalling, Park, Scholes, Welbeck, Hernandez

It's so strange when people say that.

When a team is in form, people will anticipate a loss because they have form and momentum. But when a team has just lost, people will anticipate a loss because they are like a wounded animal ready to pounce back.

will be a close match. we are not exactly firing on all cylinders either.

we need Rooney and Carrick to be in top form and Evans and Rio need to be tight at the back. I think he should play ahead of Smalling.

Its tough on Evans because he's played well this season, but I don't think anyone should play ahead of Smalling, if he's fit...

Smalling and Evans as Cbs please.

Jones and Carrick in midfield.

Rooney and welbeck upfront.

I know the 4-5-1 system has worked against Arsenal in the past years at the Emirates, but given their injuries - I don't think dropping Welbeck and playing Rooney up top on his own, would be a good idea.

4-4-2 with Rooney dropping deep, like he did v City.

De Gea/Lindegaard
Jones/Rafael - Smalling/Evans - Ferdinand - Evra
Valencia - Carrick - Giggs - Nani
Rooney
Welbeck

Agreed, it should be 4-4-2 with Welbeck and Rooney upfront. Rafael at RB, Evans partnering Rio and Giggs in CM with Carrick.

Tony V and Rafa seems to work well together.

Its tricky now that Arsenal aren't really Arsenal anymore.

They were definitely the Arsenal we've all come to know and love yesterday...

I expect, after all the stick I gave him on Saturday, Rooney will probably play a blinder.

Frankly I can see us getting torn another one.

You may not be on great form or your best form but defensively we the same joke as before and I can see Nani and Valencia tearing it up.

We might score but can't see anything other than a heavyish defeat here
1-3 / 1-4

Don't worry you'll raise your game against us so it will be tighter than that for sure.

arsenal are in much better shape compared to the one at OT, RVP worries me greatly on his current hot streak of scoring run.

Nani has got to play in this one. He tore Arsenal apart last season.

To be honest, I have absolutely no flipping idea how to line up in this one. Really tricky to judge. I'd say better be cautious and line up with the 4-5-1 similar to City game. But wouldn't be suprised if we go for it with Welbeck/Hernandez and Rooney up front.

Line up the same as on Saturday, I don't see a need to change our formation for this Arsenal side, play our own game and let them worry about trying to contain us.

How are you Jo?

nah. it will be close. could go either way. We made a meal of it against Bolton. Arsenal will be up for it and would want to redeem themselves for the big defeat.

Rooney, Carrick, Nani, Valencia and the defence will have to be at their best.

Vermaelen will be back, won't he? Maybe someone else as well, I seem to remember reading.

I think you're being a shade too pessimistic here, given Arsenal's strong home record, and the fact that your side is always going to turn up against United. Personally, I think a draw is the most likely.

What's the situation with their full-backs? Will any be fit? If they don't have any I can see Nani and Valencia tearing them to shreds.

your side is always going to turn up against United.

Nice to see Fletch in the crowd there working on his harmony.

i don't think us lining up 4-4-2 against arsenal, no matter how bad their form are, is a good idea. especially being away.

but if welbeck is fit, i don't want him to be left out either.

btw are arsenal going to play with miguel and djorou at full backs this weekend?

Is Park fit? If so, I reckon he gets a go as he has ripped the Gooners a new one on more than one occasion.

Whatever, I reckon we go with a 5 man midfield to get in about Arsenal, might use Jones as the Fletcher role in harrassing them off thier stride. My main worry is our backline, it looks week without Vida and Rio's lack of pace could be exposed if we push too high and if we drop too deep we play into thier hands by allowing space between the back and midfield, not a good outcome in either of these scenarios.

If we defend well, 3-1 us, if not a 3-3 could be on the cards as I think we will score.

Lets see if there will be a penalty in this game also. Haven't we had 10 in our last 12 meetings or something like that?

Should have had a stonewall one last season as well in the 90th minute so if your stat is right it should be 11 in 12

Not impressed with the bog standard OPs in the matchday forum.

Chris Smalling must play if available. Currently our best defender.

I'd also be inclined to play as we usually do against Arsenal rather than 4-4-2
