SAF mentioned something yesterday about players like Hernandez and Nani being involved in the remaining games so they feel they've played a real part or something.

Finally found the quotes from SAF on manutd.com:

"Two of the players played with an injury throughout the [Villa] game," Sir Alex told MUTV. "Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick. Next week, I should have Vida and Rio back and I can put Jones into the middle of the pitch and play Vida and Rio together and we'll get the experience going to Arsenal.

"A lot of younger players, the ones who have been on the fringes for the last few weeks, and I desperately want them to feel their contribution has been big. Chicharito, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Nani - I think it's important to get them involved in the last few weeks."

As for the older heads, they still have a part to play as the Reds conclude a successful campaign with Sir Alex already looking towards next term. "Giggs and Rio, the old codgers, can still carry on!" declared the manager. "Hopefully, we will have Paul Scholes fit in the next couple of weeks because he deserves to play in the last few games.

"Ryan is struggling isn't he? He's unbelievable with his energy. He's a freak - a unique freak! I tell you he can play for another two years, trust me."

No mention of Anderson in that doesn't look great for him really unless SAF just forgot to mention him.

I'd love to see Danny given a proper start up front. I think he's done great this season mainly on the wings, but he needs to get a few more goals to really boost his confidence for next season. Perhaps it won't be against Arsenal, as I can see SAF going with van Persie and Hernandez, but certainly one of the home games I'd back him to grab a goal.

I reckon there'll be some really awkward semi-applause from our players as the sides come out, and that's it.

I mean, it really is essentially like making the apostles applaud Judas on a job well done.

That said, we all know how that story panned out. We will rise again.

The GOH isn't really about the Champions, is it? it's about how gracious the losers take on the defeat or how much they respect the Champions having achieved the holy grail. The public display is not for the sake of the Champions, it's to show the support from teams of the beautiful game.

You played 10 months to achieve something and it's only natural you applaud the Champions when you meet them and when the season is coming to an end.

Champions!

De Gea

Smalling
Vidic
Jones
Evra

Carrick
Cleverley
Powell

Rooney
RVP
Welbeck

Amos, Hernandez, Januzaj, Lingard, Vermijl, Thorpe, Buttner

Yes unlikely given the U21 have a game on Friday night away at Wolves...but it'd be interesting.

Strong team please!

De Gea - Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra - Jones, Carrick, Nani, Rooney, Kagawa, van Persie

Januzaj to come off the bench for the last 15 mins.

nah give some of the other lads some time. If not now then when really...job done now let's get Clev, Powell, Welbeck etc some more time.

Rooney in midfield please.

Possibly the best chance to give Rooney a run out in the middle in a competitive game with nothing on the line, best chance to see if he has the bollocks for it in big games.

Evra and Carrick should go on a holiday now and come back after the Swansea game to lift the trophy and their medals

De gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic evra
Jones cleverley
Nani kagawa welbeck
Hernandez

Going by that interview at least, it'll be someone like this, with either kagawa, Rooney or van Persie in the hole. Buttner might play as well I think.
Hopefully we see januzaj in the last few games, along with Powell.

Its gonna be strange lining up without carrick

Still i hope we see kagawa in behind the striker, with cleverly, welbeck and nani given some decent game time.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will rotate squad against Arsenal

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will shuffle his pack when he takes the newly crowned Premier League champions to Arsenal on Sunday.

Ferguson revealed Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick both played with injuries in Monday's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, as United clinched their 20th top-flight title.

Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are poised to return at the heart of the defence, while Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Nani may also feature at Emirates Stadium.

Looking back on the title win, Ferguson said: "Two of the players played with an injury throughout the game. Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick.

"Next week, I should have Vida and Rio back and I can put Jones into the middle of the pitch and play Vida and Rio together and we'll get the experience going to Arsenal.

With all the luck Spurs got over the two games with us this season, I think you guys have no rights to complain over anything we do against Arsenal and Chelsea. You got 4 points off us when you could've easily got 0 if luck swung our way.

Firstly, what was the luck?

Secondly, considering all the luck we've had go against us in our fixtures over the past few years.....

Spurs finish outside the top 4.. we tap Bale up..
part of Fergie's masterplan.

Firstly, what was the luck?

Secondly, considering all the luck we've had go against us in our fixtures over the past few years.....

I thought you were a little fortunate to hang on at our place, but you were by far the better side first half so really can't have too many complaints.

Thought you deserved at least a draw at yours. Didn't really think we were better.

Didn't we get denied an absolute stonewaller at WHL in about the 80th minute?

To be fair, he hasn't got thirty pieces of silverware yet, just the one. Give it a couple of seasons at least.

And yeah, this is RAWK-lit. Although the metaphor needs to be more mixed. Add 'like a phoenix from the flames' on the end.

Suarez-shaped chocolate?

well, I remember the Old Trafford game as one where we were denied a penalty, and wasted A LOT of chances, coupled with 2 retarded moves in defense which you honestly don't "expect".
Not saying Spurs played like shit, but I did feel very "unlucky" as a fan that day, in the sense of "that was a game we should've won, or at the very least gotten a draw".

While the game at WHL really came down to the 90th minute.
We were better early on, while the Spurs really came alive in the 2nd half and had more chances apart from the 90th minute equaliser and De Gea made a couple of fantastic saves to keep us 1-0 up until then.
I guess in a way that game can be viewed in the sense that we would've won if we just managed to avoid a slip up in the dying seconds of the game (granted the Spurs deserved to take something out of that game).

It really depends on what kind of perspective one's looking things at.

Think we will beat ars, full of confidence pressure off and ars have giroud missing, have they even got a centre forward to play? I believe Wilshire is struggling a bit too with injury, that is a fair bit of disruption centrally, they will probably have to setup with wide forwards, Walcott and oxlade chamberlain. The first 20 mins against villa was the first time in a long time I have seen us play with complete confidence and freedom, everything we did clicked and it looked like every attack and shot would produce a goal, and with the league wrapped up there is no reason not to expect more of the same. Let's just go for it and enjoy it :)

So that's Rio, Vidic, Jones, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck and Chicharito he mentioned. Rafael seems pretty certain to play RB with Jones in the middle, though Smalling could use a game too. Buttner seems very likely to get in at LB with Rio and Vidic there to keep things calm. That just leaves a striker, or a winger if Welbeck is playing wide, I'm thinking Van Persie will want to play against Arsenal and so Rooney will sit. And let's let Lindegaard play!

Lindegaard
Rafael Rio Vidic Buttner
Jones Cleverley
Nani Persie Welbeck

With the exception of Carrick, we'll still be putting out a very strong team.

SAF trusts Welbeck enough to play him against Madrid, we all know how dangerous Hernandez can be and Nani is probably our best winger. Plus we will have Vidic and Rio at the back. I think we would've put out a similar team had we still been in the champions league. I'd definitely still back that team to beat Arsenal.

I'm not watching the poorest league champions since 1962 being wanked off - feck that for a game of soldiers.

That's rubbish mate. Look at the gap at the top given the sugar daddys the rest of us have to compete with, not forgetting that one of them are the reigning champions of Europe and invested heavily in the Summer. Maybe you would like to define what you mean by "poor", otherwise I can only interpret that remark as you being still bitter over RVP leaving, which I don't understand from your fans. He gave everything for 7 years, became disillusioned with the ambition of the club and like many of it's fans had enough, hence the protests from your lot. And the van purse-trings label, your own manager confirmed he turned down 300k p\w from city to sign for us, he chose ambition over money and he was vindicated, he is now a Champion.
