Arturo Vidal

If Bayern come in and sign him will this be the biggest ever transfer let down the caf has seen? There's been quite a few now we're almost immune to it.

Hell no. Just one of many.

Not to mention that there were some pretty big ones before 90% of people on here were even members of redcafe. Ronaldinho and Robben for starters. Both of whom came a lot closer to joining us than Vidal has so far.

That was last summer when we signed Fellaini.

Yep the Ronaldinho transfer was like a dagger to the heart.

Yep. Ronaldinho was a complete shoe in, set up and arranged months before as Beckham's replacement, and then literally changed his mind at the last minute because of Rosell. He's even said he was 48 hours from joining. If the Caf was as big as it is now, it would've literally exploded.

Ducker said we aren't after him in his webcast.

 I would not be so surprised by this. Van Gaal always has a number 6 in his team and in my memory he has never played with two number 8. The only instance that I can see him coming here will be that the offer is too good to disregard for such a player of his quality.

If he does come, I would be suprised if Vidal and Herrera becomes our go to central midfield pairing under a disciplined manger like Van Gaal. I However, like I mentioned before, Herrera can adopt his game and change to become a number 6 at United. That might change my outlook if Herrera becomes proficient in that role.

Who is this guy? Is he a reliable source?

I don't get what Ducker's point about squad turnover is? It's quite plain that we're overhauling the squad this summer, or at least trying to. I expect us to sign four first team players by the time we finish. When have we ever done that in one summer?

We quite obviously need to strengthen. Woodward has already said so. Keeping the same underperforming players and wastes of space like Anderson doesn't exactly seem like a blueprint for success, does it?

Neither do I.

I predicted we'd sign 4/5 players before the Summer began, it was just obvious that's what we needed with players leaving/retiring. Woodward spoke big about the clubs plans to spend this Summer, thought it was clear that United were going to be bringing in new players and selling lots of players.

Good, I'd rather have Cleverley in midfield than some journalist.

I lol'd.

Ducker knows abosolutely nothing, as proven by the Herrera transfer. All the leaks have come from Chile/Italy on this one.

He does make a good point about all the leaks in the Italian press - maybe he's correct and Juve are trying to create a market for the sale of Vidal. All the papers that are beating this drum the loudest are very closely linked to Juve and if they want to create a particular narrative they'll have no problem using them.

Didn't Van Gaal tell Woodward to stop briefing hacks like a c*nt?

They don't know anything solid then. Ducker trying to piss on our parade.

That's an optimistic view of things. People at the club clearly told him the Vidal reports from Chile/Italy were bollocks. The group of journos in question clearly don't get told everything, but they aren't going to put their reputation on the line by making things up with regards to their sources.

What does not actively pursuing means, as in we are interested, and looking to sign him, but we are after other targets? .

None of the English journos have a clue of what's happening. We're clearly not briefing them anymore, as Shaw and Herrera were both quick and quiet. With all of the reports in Chile I highly doubt that we're not actively pursuing him.

I think it's absolutely clear now that Moyes was briefing them all along.

Or Moyes gave his blessing for us to brief the press and Van Gaal has stopped it.

Again - Moyes and Van Gaal work under Woodward, it'll be 100% Woodward's call how he goes about the transfers.

I think Moyes was feeding the press these world class names to give the fans some optimism in his tenure.

Surely Woodward would know it was Dave doing it though and would tell him to stop?

I know it's trendy to blame absolutely everything that went badly last season on Moyes but isn't it also possible that the damage limitation about last summer's transfer feck-ups was instigated by Woodward?

Moyes certainly enjoyed a personal relationship with some of the media, he texted Andy Mitten a message to convey to the fans after he had been sacked.

Wasn't it Mitten who said it was Woodward who was feeding the press news?
