Arturo Vidal

Surely Woodward would know it was Dave doing it though and would tell him to stop?

Maybe he did, who knows? Maybe Woodward gave Moyes his blessing in the knowledge that us fans really did need to have some light at the end of the tunnel. He probably thought it would help ST renewals too.

Ducker has basically covered all bases. if we sign Vidal he's right and if we don't he's right. Same applies to di Maria.

Re the press getting leaks about transfer targets last season, what's the difference between then and now?

The press is still full of people saying we want to sign x, y and z, with stories coming out about how our manager pulled the plug on top class players that sign for other clubs (Kroos this summer, Tiago last summer) while we are apparently interested in all the best players around.

What's changed? Seems like the modus operandus remains exactly the same. All that's left is a load of stories in the English press shortly after the window closes about how it was the manager's decision/fault that led to us missing whatever targets we end up missing.

Wasn't it already documented that Moyes could've basically signed Garay, Thiago, Strootman if he gave Woodward the go ahead? Or was that all bollocks?

Re the press getting leaks about transfer targets last season, what's the difference between then and now?

The press is still full of people saying we want to sign x, y and z, with stories coming out about how we never actually wanted players that go elsewhere (Kroos) and apparent interest in all the best players around.

Remember the Fabregas saga? I think it is fair to say we're approaching any transfer dealings with more a level of quietness, the Herrera deal certainly suggests as much.

I think it's fair to say

Some Nigerian singer tweeted "Welcome to Manchester Vidal", he apparently performed at Vidal's sisters wedding.

I for one have never heard of a dishonest Nigerian on the internet.

Fantastic

I doubt the leaks were coming from Moyes. For example why would he have leaked that he is getting sacked. Or team lineups before a big European game.

The WC has meant that we've missed out on all the pointless press conferences about transfer activity. Plenty of time for all that nonsense in the coming weeks.

As far as the press linking us with a really good midfielder who is probably never leaving his current club, look no further than this thread!

I suspect that Woody is not briefing after he was made to look like a clueless fool on a personal level last summer. For a professional businessman that was the worst thing that could happen, better to make your failures in private.

The fact Evra still hasn't been completed yet says a lot IMO. It should have been a very straightforward transfer with such a respected United legend who has achieved so much for the club asking for a move.

Who are you referring to in his post, though? Both players he mentioned left their clubs.

Fabregas. He stayed at Barca. Same is true oif Herrera but it was never a "saga" so doesn't really count. Could have worded it better, shouldn't have said "never" as I was only talking about that specific transfer window.

Mind you, isn't that obvious? How many footballer never leave their current clubs?

This. In all the commotion over Vidal, the stuck transfer of Evra seems to have been ignored.

Re Vidal it's obvious we are interested and have enquired before for him which was confirmed by a few sources English and Italian including DI Marzio.

Beyond that i beleive the stories in Chilean press about us asking for his medical reports from Chilean staff which they would know and the 2 papers reporting it were generally okayish in Chile. Plus they reported it in pretty great detail. Would be one odd thing to make up for your star player otherwise.

I beleive since then Gazetta and Corriere dello sport have reported the same in Italy.

Beyond that we know nothing. Whether there have indeed been talks or are schedule to be or whether we have submitted a formal/informal offer.

Could be the Evra hold up is linked to that in some way but everyone seems to be guessing on that.

The quotes Vidal gave were encouraging though, and indicated that there has been contact with his agent and he is open to a move. Remember neither Juve or his agent have denied any move reports.

While in Pogba's case earlier in the summer Juve denied rumours and this time his agent denied rumors that weren't that big either the next day re Chelsea.

To quote myself on this transfer and where i believe we stand right now.

Ducker/Ogden no longer seem to be on day to day speed dial with Woody. So covering all bases.

What is the likely hood that the Evra announcement has been delayed, as some have suggested, so that the Vidal transfer can be announced at/around the same time?

True, but I don't think Fabregas was unavailable last summer. I think when we were bidding he was available, and wanted a move. The manager change seemed to change everything.

I dont think Fabregas was interested in coming to us, he was more interested in self-promotion at Barca & stringing us along in the process.

It was said at the time, that his bird was London-based & she didnt want him to move to Manchester. Then when he signed for Chelsea, it was then reported that his missus was the contributing factor why he went there - as opposed to us..

I couldnt care less to be honest - he's someone elses twat. Cant wait for him to get all the grief he deserves when he plays at the Emirates..

What was that quote of his: "I'd rather die than wear a Chelsea shirt.."

Dont come complaining to me Mr Fabregas when you break up with your missus and realise all the most attractive girls in the country are in the North West, and you start shagging some bird off Coronation Street and wish you had moved to Manchester.

Tancredi Palmeri is saying we have reached a deal with Vidal now need to submit the bid

Yep. And even with two sugar daddy teams around, they've hardly challenged for the title every year!

As Chelsea found, you need a proper manager to build a team to do it. Which is why their only prolonged period of domination was under Mourinho. I do wonder whether City have the patience.

Best headline of the window though. From this day forth all done deals will be addressed as a "DONE DEALIO" :D
