Herrera is a very good player. Carrick could have another decent season, maybe van Gaal will get the best out of Cleverley or Jones in midfield. Of course it isn't ideal now but we've addressed part of the issue, the second part will also be addressed this Summer but it's not like at the minute we'll have to play Cleverley-Herrera.
While LVG plays any formation he thinks will work, its fair to say that 4-4-2 is an uncommon formation for him. I'd be very surprised to see it as our plan A.

According to Vidal he wants to move to one of the "top 2 leagues". He's done Germany and Italy already, can't see him playing for old rivals.
It feels so much like the Thiago saga though. Player away in a different country getting asked about United and giving coy answers, us being made favorites for his signature based on nothing more than very unreliable reports and Bayern's name mentioned in the background. Yeah, but from what we heard, it was Moyes who pulled the plug on the deal and Thiago obviously had a special bond with Pep. Doubt Vidal has that preference. Plus Bayern refused to meet Kroos' demand, I am not sure they will match the figures we will have to offer.
THIS!!!! Precisely why I don't think we're going to buy Vidal. We have too many No. 10s who are all very good and if we were to play Vidal and Herrera behind them then either the two box-to-box midfielders will see less of the ball, or the creative number 10 will and in each scenario you're not getting the best out of the individual player.

No, my initial point was incorrect, RVP was quite lengthy, but my point was to compare the profile/calibre of players, RVP and Vidal are WC, so Shaw wouldn't be relevant, but if RVP was longer than I thought, surely that gives more footing to this Vidal rumour...
