I don't. He's had one season of scoring goals. One season where the set-up suited him and the whole team played as more than the sum of their parts. Before that his record was average at best. I'd be wary buying anyone from Athletico Madrid and expecting them to be as good as they were last season.

I agree with this. From what I've seen, Diego Costa will offer nothing towards the style and build up play Chelsea are aiming to do so I don't see him fitting in or scoring much. He's going to be another Torres, in my opinion

My niece speaks Spanish and has been living in Santiago, Chile for the past 12 months teaching English. She said that it wasn't quite like that it was more "play against the biggest clubs in the world" (i.e. in the Premier League) rather than "play for...". Actually he said literally "Play with...." but that doesn't quite sound right in English.

I appreciate that it amounts to much the same, but subtle difference

The difference between "play with the biggest clubs in the world" and "play with the biggest club in the world"?

If we're at the haggling over price stage then that's an encouraging sign.

Bit like that Groucho Marx quote @Will Absolute posted the other day:

GROUCHO (to woman seated next to him at an elegant dinner party): Would you sleep with me for ten million dollars?

WOMAN (giggles and responds): Oh, Groucho, of course I would.

GROUCHO; How about doing it for fifteen dollars?

WOMAN (indignant): Why, what do you think I am?

GROUCHO: That’s already been established. Now we’re just haggling about the price.

 that's fantastic

They don't really use build up play, they defend deep and will be very dangerous on the break with the pace and dribbling skills of Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Ramires, Schurrle and Costa.

He's been that short for days. Means nothing.
Yeah I'm just trying to cling on to some hope that we might actually end up signing him. At least there aren't any rumours about other clubs showing much interest, patiently waiting for a reliable source to confirm we're trying though.

How can Vidal be imminent when there is absolutely no news of a bid?

Sometimes there isn't news of a bit. There wasn't with Herrera it just seemed to happen, although admittedly the terms of his contract were different.

Maybe this is the most secretive of all transfer bids. South American media and Spanish media have both suggested this is close so.

Peter Spencer loves a windup. He's a bitter blue.

I refuse to believe anything anyone that looks like this says:

He looks like Lana Del Rey if she was a Team America Puppet.
Oh, what, just because he looks like a pre-op you don't trust anything he says?

Yeah....good call.

Would seem odd that Juventus would keep this quiet if we had made a bid. Do they want to sell to us on the sly without a bidding war with the big money teams?

I guess but these things can all be done without going through the media.

This has got heartbreak written all over it. He'd be perfect for us. Absolutely perfect.

I think it's fair to say

Some Nigerian singer tweeted "Welcome to Manchester Vidal", he apparently performed at Vidal's sisters wedding.

I for one have never heard of a dishonest Nigerian on the internet.

If united do pull this off, then Van Gaal and Woodward's popularity will go through the roof.
