Arturo Vidal

There isn't anybody, that is the problem, if LVG really doesn't want to sign players because he wants to work with academy products, than we are fecked in the midfield. There are no good real midfielders at the club, I'd be fine with it on the wings, I'd be fine with it at the back, and I'd be fine with upfront, but if LVG is reluctant on us signing Vidal than we should intervene as a club and force the move and pay whatever we need to pay to get it done. Vidal is just everything we have needed for years now, missing out on that because we want to work with unexisting midfield talents from the academy is the kind of stuff that we should really be avoiding.

Ben Pearson?

Just because we've signed a new kit deal it doesn't mean we should spend ridiculous sums on players. Good on van Gaal/United if they've put their foot down. Almost £50 mill on a 27 year old player is ridiculous, no matter how many other clubs I dukge in this sort of spending.

Vidal is the kind of player that could boost United into a CL winning club. Transferprice shouldn't be an issue if he is available and you are sorted financially for the next 10 years.

Instead I'd rather the club be a bit smarter in spending £30m on an 18 year old leftback if so many other good (cheaper) alternatives exsist in the market and waisting £27.5m on a midfielder we all want out after just one season.

If you could get him at £34m, it'd be utter madness to turn him down.

If there was a choice, why get a 7/10 player like Herrera for £28m when you could get your 9/10 for just £6m more?

This can't be a financial decision.

If the quotes by Vidal himself are true then I fully expect him to be a United player. Usually clubs want to give the perception to fans that the player was hell bent on leaving and they had no choice but to sell. That way no blame is placed on anyone except the player. We did the same thing to Rooney twice and you usually hear about players having to hand in transfer requests first (which unfortunately Fellaini did last summer). Juventus will play hardball with the fee, but we'll end up paying the fee, which we usually do when we really want someone as very rarely do we not pay over the odds for players we really want.

RIP Vidal. I hope RvP and Rooney hold up 'his' United shirt in our next game as a sign or respect.

£34m isn't close to £50m...

If we've pulled out because of the price I can guarantee it's a lot higher than £34m. Probably closer to £50m. There's no way we'd turn Vidal down for that, no fecking way.

Even if it is closer to £50m, still madness not pay it.

If the price was closer to 50, United would brief that instead of looking like insane tight bastards.

Surely this £35m figure that's getting banded about is + Nani and potentially with Evra somehow involved in a separate deal

We're complete and utter retards if we're actually gawking at £34 million. Woodward is very much a Microsoft Excel expert, work something out!

I have no idea what game is being played here.

Firstly, there's no way you've turned him down at that price.

Secondly, there's no way you would brief that you turned him down at that price.
I think we're all in the dark.

Either we are complete morons or we're briefing as to lower Juventus' asking price because we're complete morons and also misers.

At £34m, I'd be disappointed if we weren't in for him ourselves.

You have just signed Sanchez and are likley to sign Khedira in the coming the days, I'am not used to tell this to an Arsenal, but you have absolutley no reason to be disappointed about your transfer business atm. United on the other hand, that is a different story.

Yea me to, £28.5 m for Herrera, £30m for Shaw, £27.5m for Fellaini and £37.5m for Mata, but oh noes £48m for one of the best allround midfielders in the world that is impossible, especially since we will now be earning atleast £128m in shirt revenue alone for the next 10 years...

Hopefully it is just a way to try and lower the price a bit but not us pulling out of the deal. Honestly I don't know if trying to lower the price would work on this one as I think Juventus simply prefers to keep Vidal and us pulling our hands off is exactly what they want to achieve. Imo we should just pay whatever it takes, Vidal would make all the difference in the world, he is all round midfielder that you don't come across to often anymore. Technicaly strong, very good positioning, good passing, great work rate, scores alot for a midfielder and most importantly he is a true warrior that will fight for victory to the bitter end. It is not for nothing Juve fans are dreading this deal so much, they know he is vital to their team and that he can't be replaced. If we can pull this off by paying over the odds, than pay it goddamnit, this is the kind of player that doesn't come around every year and will make all the difference in the world if you sign him or not. There literally is no alternative for him on the market.
You're a right bloody nelly. You post the same whinge, over and over, in multiple threads. People talk about being embarrassed by United, you're an embarrassment to this place. People read this shit you know.

Cracking strategy, in fairness. We brief the press that we won't pay what seems a relatively fair price foe a world class player, in a position we're desperately in need of. Which part of this is supposed to make Juve blink?

Some part of this story isn't right. Feck knows which part, though.

Woodward must realise how badly it will damage him with the fans if on the same day as news of a £750million kit deal is confirmed we are reported to have pulled out of the desperately-needed signing of one of the world's best midfielders because £34million was 'too much'.

Artu-OFF.

On the plus side, if this means a revitalised Cleverley, with Strootman as an option in January, I'd be ok with it.
