If I was united, I would go all out on mr pogba, for age possible potential, he would be that guy. Plus he would love to play under a manager like LVG

Yeah, i cannot see us paying big for Mr. Pogba and his agent after last time.

Not at all. Here's a breakdown.

If the Daily Mail, Daily Express, Daily Star, Mirror or other assorted shite say something, ignore. They have no idea.

If Ogden, Ducker, Taylor all say something simultaneously, it means Woodward has briefed them. Fwiw, imo that doesn't necessarily mean its true, but just what the club is reporting.

On their own, any of the above three are fairly reliable.

If Andy Mitten says something, its true.

File Ian Ladyman and Mike Keegan somewhere in between the Odgen, Ducker, Taylor triumvirate, and the Daily Mail.

Ducker said today in a web chat that we're not interested or something along those lines, didn't he?

to be honest, fergie in his last few seasons brought has many youth players through the united academy, as the amount of players he signed in midfield. Hell fergie thought ashley young was value for money LOL

Not true and don't get your point.

Anyway, i am not starting the Pogba debate here again if that is what you mean.

If Manchester United was a man, it would NEVER get a girl pregnant. Always pulling out of things prematurely ffs.

Clubs brief for a variety of reasons. Sources always have agendas.

I am not going in a full pogba debate, all I am saying is fergie left the next manager with perhaps the worst united midfield since 2004, and moyes raised the bar with fellaini signing

I doubt Juventus would let him go for just £34m, let alone us actually rejecting it.

Not quite sure who this is but the gist of this article is that we're offering around €50m for Vidal & €8-9m per year to him, which is more than double what he's currently on & that Juve will 'seriously consider it'.

Done dealio not so finito anymorio?

Ducker said today in a web chat that we're not interested or something along those lines, didn't he?

Did he? He's certainly been sticking to the "United are interested but there's been no meaningful contact" line. Which is the same as Dimarzio, who is also quite reliable.

However, we then seem to have various reports from Chile about there being significantly more to the story than that.

At that point I see two possibilities based on the evidence we have (which is basically nothing since of course this is the transfer window).

1 - the ducker and dimarzio line. We're interested, but there's nothing of significance happening. Unless Juve are complete idiots, they'll be wanting over 40m pounds at the minimum. It's possible we don't want to pay that for a 27 year old, leaving the clubs at an impasse.

2 - as with the Herrera deal, the usually reliable English sources are in the dark on this one. There's certainly been a lack of briefings from United which have been so commonplace for the past year. United are probably capable of keeping their affairs from British media if they choose (to an extent), however it would be much harder to stop leaks in Chile as United I assume have very little influence there.

Those are the reasonable possibilities as I can see it. And nowhere in either scenario is there room for the Daily Mail report about a 34m price being too high. The only rationale I can think of for that is if United were briefing media that the price is too high as a negotiating tactic. But in that case you'd expect Ogden and co to be reporting it.

He is one of the biggest Italian sports journalist but Hit and miss. Last week he said we were meeting Cavani and considering making a offer this week.

Whilst I'm sure you're right, you can't be sure he'd love to play for LVG. With his/his agents attitude and LVG's past history I can't imagine them getting on for one thing.

Besides, why on earth would Pogba want to return to United. I just don't get why anyone wants to discuss it. He left under a cloud and then has continually slagged off the club ever since. People will be quick to point out that it's just SAF he's mad at but SAF is still at the club and would probably warn us off buying him anyway. Burnt bridges, move on. We'll never see him in a United shirt again.

It's Daily Fail and no direct quotes or anything but....

Arturo Vidal to Manchester United is OFF as Louis van Gaal will not pursue interest in Juventus midfielder

  • Manchester United will NOT pursue interest in Arturo Vidal
  • Juventus are ready to sell Chile international and hoped for £32m deal
  • Louis van Gaal has decided the midfielder is not for the Old Trafford club
  • Vidal told Chilean press he would sort future after his holidays
  • United will consider other options, contrary to Italian newspaper reports

Manchester United will NOT pursue interest in Arturo Vidal.

Juventus are ready to sell the Chile international and had hoped to agree a deal worth £32million with the Old Trafford club.

The 27-year-old is well regarded and came back from injury to impress in the World Cup, however, United have decided he is not for them.

Vidal's agent Fernando Felicevich was in London concluding business with Arsenal for his other client Alexis Sanchez and was understood to be due to hold talks with United over a proposed transfer.

Vidal is currently on holiday after competing at the World Cup in Brazil for his country, and when quizzed by Chilean newspaper La Tercera over whether he would be joining United, he said: 'I've heard about the rumours, but I haven't spoken more about this subject.

'I'm enjoying my holidays, and when I return to Italy I'll see what happens. Anyone would like to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.'

Italian newspaper reports on Monday even claimed a deal had been agreed between the two clubs but that will not be the case as United consider other options.

United's valuation of the player is understood to be several million less than that of the Italian side and the Old Trafford club will not pay over the odds for the 27-year-old Chilean, despite new manager Van Gaal identifying Vidal as one of his leading targets to strengthen his midfield.

hmm..

Welcome to 6 hours ago jerkface

Lucky we have pre season to take the mind of this saga, especially since he doesn't return to Italy until July 28th

only scenario where I can see the no to £34m being true is if we want him AND Pogba and they are asking ALOT for Pogba & we won't pay that much ON TOP for Vidal, it's a long shot but if that's what we are planning then I would understand it, otherwise I see no reason at all we would say no to Vidal at £34m

Thats some assumption - proper muppeting at work there. Fair play to ya, but i dont see that being possible. Never say never though.

I dont think the Caf could handle the excitement of that happening. It would be like Ole scoring in '99 in the last minute all over again - "did that shit just happen bruv?"

No one knows for sure what is going on behind the scenes in regards to Vidal, but if United are trying to drive down the reported 34 million fee and miss out on him, it would be a huge mistake. We grossly overpaid for Shaw, but United trying to penny pinch for a World class player does not make sense. There are not many players of his class available, so he should be a priority. There were rumors that we missed out on Eden Hazard because of a few million in agent fees, then ended up paying a huge fee for Mata.

I'm hoping we do not miss out on him, but i feel we are saving face by pulling out. Vidal most probably has another club in the Champions league after him.

I don't think this deal happen. Exactly like Thiago last summer.

He'll probably stay at Juventus and Pogba will be sold next summer.

Roughly translated our attitude - if reports about the situation are true - is that "there's no value in the market".

well I'd prefer to think that then the Daily Fail story being true I guess lol, I think Vidal will probably happen one way or another though.

We can't refuse to pay £34m for Vidal having paid £30m a pop for two players neither of whom have (had) recognition beyond their respective countries.

It may well be posturing to bring the price down, but if it is then it will be to bring the price down from £50m to £40m. Not £35m to £25m. Although Ed would only be briefing Ducker and co, not Simon fecking Jones.

The other explanation is that there's nothing coming out of United now and the tabloid hacks don't know how to deal with it, so resort back to the old scattergun "cover all angles" approach. 'Vidal signs for United? Oh look I published an article that said it would happen. The deal's off? Great I've got an article breaking that story, too.' Whichever story turns out to be wrong will disappear from their site.

No doubt about that man..

I just hope we dont feck up any chance we have of gettin Vidal if he's available. Obviously i dont like to see the club gettin held to ransom all the time, but its frustrating if we're penny-pinching over a mill or 2, when Vidal would put us back on the map straight away.

Just get the deal done United & bring Keano MKII to Old Trafford pronto

Thats it in an nutshell hobbers..

I cant see United bickering at a £34m price-tag - thats a fantastic deal. Most of us would be comfortable with the club payin £40m+ for the fella. He's worth every penny..

How do journos want us to believe at the United have pulled out because Juve asked 32 mil for Vidal, when we have paid similar amounts for Herrera and a 19 year old LB?

Do these idiots even think if it is believable or not before writing?

A few in here found it quite believable.
