Juventus could have said this a long time ago. Saying it the day after Conte walks? It's still 50/50. Juventus were never going to say he's for sale and we all know that.
They said it at the new managers press conference, a manager none of the fans wanted. Imagine him saying right away they are looking to sell the best player in the league? It wouldn't end well, that's for sure.

I can't beleive the clowns taking this as he won't come. If anything I see this as encouraging, we haven't heard the usual 'he's a X player and we will not sell him'. What do they expect them to say!?

I'm not saying his coming but that press conference confirmed absolutely nothing whatsoever, the situation is the same as it was yesterday.

People putting a positive spin on this are equally jokers. Nothing is clear but there is absolutely nothing that suggests it is more positive than what it was yesterday.

And not forget that Bilbao said they rejected our bid on the same they Herrera signed for us. Clubs love to make players look like they want to go and they were forced to sale.

Herrera is great but it's not enough who ever he partners is a liability.

Managed/rotated properly that team and cover would walk to third.

That's one way of looking at it sure (cantonagiggs1) :)..

The press conference doesn't change anything. So many examples which just were completely wrong a few weeks later. Ferguson "Virus" example, Mourinho said Mata is in his plans, Allegri said he won't sell Ibra and Silva, Barca said they won't sell Cesc and Sanchez, Bayern said earlier this year Kroos will be a Bayern player next season and they will rather lose him for free than sell him this summer and you could finde much more. That's always the case with press conferences, you just try to save your face, doesn't mean anything. Maybe it's the truth and the deal is off, maybe they just talking bs and the deal is nearly done, we will see.

Not really... Arsenal, Chelsea and City have significantly strengthened this year.

Our manager and new recruits would have given us a good shot last year but I think with the transfer activity done by the top 3 teams this summer we will struggle this season without a top tier CB or CM (plus a winger as all ours are shit).
We need a CM/Box to box and a CB... that is the least we can do.

Listen i stand by my point simply because we will have the unfortunate "plus" of any european games.

But i agree cant wait to see who we get.

We had Rio and Vidic last season and we walked to 7th. I fail to see your optimism and a 4 place rise after the changes we've made to our squad.

Two injury prone defenders at CB, Carrick who's almost 33 will put to much burden on Herrera to do all the running. Chelsea, City and now Arsenal have better starting 11's and better depth so realistically speaking we can possible scrape fourth depending on Liverpool.

Jones and Evans depresses me immensely but the rest of the team is fantastic.

Yup, Arsenal, Chelsea and City way stronger. We'll be battling for fourth with that. Could be worse than fourth even...

We will get more players anyway.

We had an extremely poor Rio and an injury plagued Vidic.

Even without the unfortunate burden on Europe. That team still looks incredibly unbalanced, I'm confident we'll sign more players but they need to be at the level of what Chelsea and Arsenal are signing.

Think you're underestimating LvG. Moyes was relatively clueless. Top 4 would be a possibility with van Gaal even if no changes were made IMO.

Last season was an unacceptable aberration - I don't understand why expectations have been so drastically lowered.

If the club don't put their hand in their pocket, I won't know what to say - the financial situation hasn't been this good in a decade. We should be investing heavily in the squad and aiming for the title.

Carrick shouldnt start, Evans and Jones as a CB pairing is a wildcard.
Januzaj is great but cant do it alone, Kagawa isnt a winger.

EVERY OTHER TOP SIDE has gotten in specialist reinforcements... just look at City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Take off the rose tinted glasses...that side will struggle to make 4th.

There's always a chance of a meteor wiping out the city of Liverpool yes. But I'd rather United made the massive amount of squad fixes needed to make top 4 a probablity rather than a hope. LvG can't play centre back or midfield as far as I am aware.

Indeed.

WE had what it took to easily finish in the top 4 last season. Moyes was an inept disaster that had no business being near our club. We will easily finish in the top 3 this season as is. EASILY.

Trust no one. Everyone's got something to sell, even if it's just smoke.

Another odd story appears. This time from Mundo Deportivo quoting sources in Italy: Juve are expected to bid for Marcos Rojo, the Sporting Lisbon leftback. Price tag? €16m allegedly.

Now what's happening to the Evra deal and who refilled Juve's piggy bank?

Arturo Vidal: Juventus say Chilean midfielder is 'not for sale'
Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta says the club have no intention of allowing Arturo Vidal to leave.

The 27-year-old was linked with Manchester United, but it is believed that the Old Trafford club have no interest in the Chile midfielder.

"Vidal is a Juventus player and we have never put him up for sale," Marotta told a press conference on Wednesday.

"A lot of clubs have asked for him but we have never sat down to negotiate. We want to keep him."

Vidal has three years left on his contract with the Italian champions.

"From experience, I know that a player is the one that decides his future," Marotta added.

"Vidal has expressed many times how happy he is to remain in Turin and if that is confirmed, we will be happy to continue together."

Last week Vidal told a Chilean newspaper that he was "very calm" about the prospect of remaining with the Italian giants.

The midfielder enjoyed an impressive World Cup in Brazil, helping Chile to reach the last 16.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player has won three Serie A titles at Juventus. Last season he scored 11 goals as Juve won the title by 17 points.

The Turin club appointed former AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager on Wednesday, replacing Antonio Conte.
From the press conference this morning... The last 2 bolded lines aren't exactly conclusive now, are they?

Sir, I must respectfully disagree.
With the serious strengthening done by the other top sides, we will not "easily" make top 3...or top 4 for that matter unless we get better players in.

LVG is a brilliant manager but he isn't a frigging sorcerer.

They hired him pretty quickly after Juve revealed that Conte had left. Within hours in fact..

Very unusual shit gets done that quickly, unless it was quietly on the cards for some days!
Agreed. It's like they know they are going to lose him. If you take into account that Conte is ambitious and wanted to build a side that could win the CL, his resignation seems doesn't seem that weird at all. They know that they are about to lose Vidal and they want to squeeze as much juice as they can from the lemon.

Ha! Sounds quite different to ehrliebenden reports. Of course they WANT to keep him and of course he HAS EXPRESSED many Times that he is happy in Turin.
This is as on as it was before.

Well last season we probably had the third strongest squad, arguably second (tied with Chelsea really). We just had an awful manager who was out of his depth. Now we have a world class manager and added Shaw and Herrera (and probably a few more) to our squad, have Mata for the whole season already bedded in, Januzaj is better, but we lost Rio and Vidic, and probably Evra. Chelsea and Arsenal have strengthened but Liverpool have lost the reason they were so high last season and won't be close to that without him. Think there will be a tight top 4 but a gap between 4th and 5th.

It's the english journos that are depressing people.

Marotta was always going to say what he said, even if a deal had already been agreed in principle. They're unveiling a manager who the fans dont want for christ sake, not going to stir the pot any more. His quotes are a perfect set up for "we tried our best to keep him but his head had been turned and he forced the move"

Liverpool is now out of the picture in my opinion. That leaves us and Arsenal fighting for 3rd place. I think we overtake them.

That is speculation, Rogers has them playing out of their skin...true they possibly had their best season in a long time last season but there is no reason why they cannot achieve 4th again.
