Arturo Vidal

I just can't buy that. Fellaini, Anderson and Cleverley are examples of what's wrong at United. I can't see how and why they would deserve another chance, especially when 2 of them already failed (to a different extent) under 2 managers.

You didn't understand what I wrote.

All our potential moves are off 'til van Gaal assesses the sorry bunch.
Not exactly off. More like on standby as they enjoy their post World Cup vacations while 'the sorry bunch' have their last chance to show some quality which I'm sure some of them will fail to do that.

Of course it would be better if Giggsy would already report to Van Gaal who are the weakest links but boss always take complex analysis from his Dutch staff before he'll make definitive moves.

Kinda slow weeks ahead but at least we'll see some football.

I understood what you wrote, but that doesn't mean those 3 deserve anything anymore. It would be an incentive for younger midfielders who are obviously hungry and players at other positions, but not for players like the trio I just named.

I don't think it'll be 3-4 weeks until we see some activity - I'm taking his comments with a pinch of salt.

You would think these useless Journos today would of mentioned his name in the press conference. After weeks of speculation and United fans bombarding twitter about Vidal. Not one question asked about him. Especially when LVG mentioned Shaw and Herrera were on the list. I thought this would happen after seeing Vidals quotes but im 90% sure it wont happen now.

I refuse to believe LvG is seriously assessing our current center mid options. Before Carrick got injured a second center mid was needed for us to realistically be able to challenge for the title. Even if it's only the first month of the season he's out for, it's still surely a no brainer.

It would be very frustrating after Moyes spent 12 months assessing our squad to decide he needed Kroos, only to start over again now. LvG mentioned 3-4 weeks to assess his options but that surely doesn't leave enough time. Assuming Vidal is a target, that leaves Juve with very little time to find quality replacements. If the target isn't Vidal it's the same problem regardless. Next thing we'll end up desperate repeating the Fellaini disaster.

I'm still keeping the faith this will happen. My latest invented excuse to keep my hope alive is that Juve can't let Vidal go at the minute while all the fans are so pissed about Conte leaving. Give them a few weeks to calm down, and then Vidal can leave under the excuse that he asked to leave, rather than the board wanting to cash in. They seem to have set up for this excuse quite nicely already.

van gaal assesing the squad and after deciding whether to go for any other player - tabloids backing off with making rumours about ingoing players
... "and yeah there is this little thing about one of our experienced players. Michael Carrick is out with long-time injury..." - the muppet dreams continues right next morning.

Glad I'm off for next few weeks. After I'm back I wanna see him, Depay and Hummels wearing red shirts.

It's quite obvious that Van Gaal was never going to come in and say, "yeah we're a bit sh!T in some departments, i'll be looking to smash the cash instantly".

Telling anyone of our plans is pretty pointless, all it does is calm down some online fans.

Leave it in the big man's hands.
If he thinks we have enough, we have enough. If he thinks we need signings, we'll do it.

I'm not overly worried about the comments made of late.
Juventus said exactly what was expected to be fair. They are going to be adamant that they are not selling their best players, but they simply put it into Vidals court saying, if he asks to leave, then they will sell him.

Makes them look better in the eyes of the fans.

This is not me expecting him to sign, but I think it's really down to Vidal now.

I was hoping he was going to walk into the press conference wearing a United shirt with Vidal 23 on the back :(

I would also have accepted Vidal 7.

Sneaky Woodward.

I still think well sign King Arturo, especially with Carrick being injured.

Exactly. No news is NOT bad news here. There's little reason to expect news from anyone's camp for a while:

Vidal is on holiday until July 28, and has said in multiple interviews that his future will be sorted out after that.

United are leaving tomorrow on the US tour. They return about a week or less after Vidal returns to Italy. That's the timeline that LVG set to evaluate the team before deciding who he needs to buy. They will want to announce a big signing at home, not at some random hotel or stadium in the US. It's not like Vidal would be on the tour anyway, as he's on holiday until it's almost over.

Juve are not going to want to announce a sale of a top player right after the new manager starts. 2-3 weeks sounds about right to let him settle in before dropping a bomb like that.

I'm not saying that it's a done dealio, but 2-3 weeks is a timeline that makes sense for all 3 parties to decide one way or the other. Expect nothing but more rumors and contradictory reports until early August.

We will be kept in te dark until 24 hours before a transfer this Summer.

This all makes a lot of sense.

Yeah but how great was the way the Herrera news broke? Late monday night and I was thinking no way! Thursday he was signed. Would love one more of those transfers this summer.

This is way to logical and sensible to ever happen.

I think it will. Mata happened pretty quickly aswell.

Nah, there's no bullshit with van Gaal. He's gonna allow the current crop time to impress him, add to that the fact I'm sure he's more than confident in his own ability to perform with the players at his disposal and that he could be described as an anti-muppet.

He has to say he is giving the existing players a chance before wadding into the market.

You can be 100% sure that both LVG and Woodward are already fairly certain of the areas that will be identified as weaknesses over the next 3 weeks. So they will be working on potential deals to fill those areas right now not in 3 weeks.

We've been linked with Vidal heavily in the last week, every journalist on twitter is probably getting bombarded with questions about him from united fans, I just don't understand why a journalist didn't ask about Vidal or another specific player!

The questions they came up with beyond 4/5 were generic or shit.

Was it 5-6 days with Mata? It's just a great rush when it happens that way.
Rumours were around and then it kept growing really quickly to the point it was confirmed on BBC after like 2 days. Still took another 3 days or something for The official site but still. It is great when it's quick yea.
