FA Cup 3rd Round
5th January 2008
17:15 GMT
Villa Park

Seeing as we won against Brum I'll continue :smirk:

Assuming Tevez is out..

-------------------PIG---------------
----Brown----Rio----Vida----Evra-----
--Ron--Hargreaves--Anderson--Giggs----
----------Rooney-----Saha-----------

Subs: Heaton, Nani, O'Shea, Park, Carrick

VDS for PIG if he's ready

Playing it on FIFA now, I ll tell you what happens

Team should be:

VDS

Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

Nani - Hargreaves - Anderson - Park

Rooney - Saha

PIG, O'Shea, Giggs, Ronaldo, Carrick.

I think Ronaldo will be rested after playing all of our 4 games during the christmas period. Fergie is careful with Giggs at his age and Hargreaves will probably start instead of Carrick.

Scholes, Tevez, Neville, VDS (still ??), Foster, Silvestre all out

I hope this line-up
-------------------------- Kuszczak -----------------------
Brown ------ Ferdinand ----------------- Vidic -------- Evra
Nani ------- Hargreaves --------------- Anderson ----- Giggs
-------------- Rooney ------------------ Saha ------------

Bench: Heaton, O`Shea, Carrick, Park, Ronaldo

I agree, had Rooney been fit Cristiano proberly would of been rested for the Brum game. With that in mind I reckon the team will be....

GK: PIG

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Nani
CM: Hargreaves
CM: Anderson
LM: Giggs

CF: Rooney
CF: Saha

Subs: Heaton, O'Shea, Carrick, Park, Ronaldo

It's Villa park so we should be fine :nervous:

That team should do the trick. However, I reckon Edwin's back for this.

I think that will be the team. Had Park in my starting 11 instead of Giggs, but don't think Park will start again. Fergie will probably be careful with him and Giggs should be ready for saturday.

Also, where's Carlitos? Surely we can't rest both Ronaldo and Tevez, we should at least have him on the bench.

After today I'm under the assumption that he'll be injured for the game

need to play our strongest possible line-up, carrick,o'shea needs to be dropped.

I know FA Cup has its atmosphere and is a really important competition, but it's not more important than league and CL so I would rest a few players in each game, even if it's Villa at home. If we go out, it won't hurt as much as dropping points in later stages of more important competition.

I'd go with something like this:

Kuszczak - O'Shea, Vidic, Brown, Simpson - Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Park - Saha, Tevez

The FA Cup is an unwelcome distraction from the League for me. Had we beaten WHU and been sitting top I would have probably been looking forward to this game.

Can't predict a team. I suspect SAF will ring the changes.

il'd say the team will be:

GK: PIG

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Anderson
CM: Carrick
LM: Giggs

CF: Saha

We should rest ronaldo, he's been playing overtime. Poor lad.

The FA Cup is naturally important for us, and with Villa better than they have been in some time, this will be a tough one it goes without saying.

And also, with us by our standards, in an iffy patch, scratching around for our true form and rhythm, a win would carry a wider boost for us.

Strongest possible team for me.

With the Tevez injury, i'd expect to see Saha and Rooney lead the line.

Should send Ronnie away for a week - tell him to go sit on a beach. Played a lot over the Xmas period and needs a rest.

Rooney will be back for the match and we have the wide areas covered with Nani, Giggs, Park and Rooney if necessary.

End of the day chaps.... Yes its the FA Cup but its 3rd in the list of priorities.

United facing Cup crisis

by Ben Blackmore, 01 January 2008

Manchester United could be facing a mini striker crisis after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Carlos Tevez is a doubt for their FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Tevez was United’s star man as he scored the only goal in their 1-0 victory over Birmingham on Tuesday, but he was forced to limp off with 20 minutes to go with an ankle injury.

The Argentine was the victim of a tackle from behind by Liam Ridgewell, and he spent 40 minutes of the encounter wincing his way through the match.

With Wayne Rooney still sidelined by a virus, United could be left with just one striker – Louis Saha – for their cup date with Villa.

"It was a bad tackle and the longer the game went on, the worse the injury got," said Ferguson of Tevez’s injury, which saw him need help to leave the pitch.

"In the end, we had to bring Carlos off. We will assess him tomorrow to see what the damage is but he is doubtful for Saturday now."

Ferguson is more hopeful over Rooney, revealing: "It would have been a bit of a risk to play Wayne today but he should be fine for Saturday."

I had a match on Fifa 08 last night too. This game is as close to realism you can get!!

Villa 1-1 United (Saha with the opener, Carew with a last min equalizer)

United 3-1 Villa (Harewood with opener, Rooney with a 2nd half hatrick)

I second this.
