Barcelona 2017/18

Our attacking lineup in July: Neymar-Suarez-Messi

In August: Deulofeu - Suarez - Messi

For September: Deulofeu - Alcacer - Messi

I think the strategy should be focusing on players who have the Catalan affiliation or Spanish rather than just worldclass foreign signings. I would spend the Neymar's funds on getting DDG, Bellerin, Thiago, Laporta. Get a strong Spanish spine or La Masia graduates while complimenting it with the established worldclass foreign talents. Don't think Dembele n Coutinho is the way to go about the rebuilding.

Laporte would be the only they would have a chance of signing.

They have the funds from Neymar's fees and wages as well as the prestige of the club and global city status. All the said players are attainable considering the players and agents' influence today.

Apparently, nobody has bought a Paulinho a shirt yet.:lol::lol:

Bayern, Manchester United and Arsenal will not just give those players away to Barca.

If Bartomeu didn't sign Dembele he should resign immediately. feck me! It's such a poor attack.

So much uncertainties, from short term to long term

1. New manager
2. Lack of squad depth
3. Aging team (including potential decline of players like Rakitic, Pique)
4. Neymar's replacement, Neymar-related "depression"
5. In this hyper-inflated market, if they rebuild mostly by signing players instead from academy, they will have to spend real big (compared to Real, where their backup options like Asensio/Isco/etc are so young and have so much potential)

Theoretically Real can dominate La Liga for 2-3 seasons, at least until Ronaldo starts declining.

Never works out like that.

As much as I find it interesting (this current state of affairs), Barcelona will sort themselves out - they always do eventually and especially now, they are an incredible draw for all the worlds best players (probably still the best draw on the planet).

With Neymar's 222M, they can buy Mbappe, if he wants to come and if PSG feck up. Change the system to 4-3-1-2, with

Mbappe---Suarez
------Messi-------

This can also "start preparing" Messi for his decline, especially his pace. Well I am not saying Messi has started declining already. This line up can dominate until Messi is gone, probably another 5 years+.

If they want to pay 3 figure M for De Gea they might stand a chance

They can't play 2 striker formations with Messi behind them. The man doesn't defend at all and no one will make him start defending at this point in his career.
If you play 4-3-1-2 then CAM always has to drop back to create 4-4-X defensive shape. Messi will not do it so they would have to defend with 7 players and that won't work for them any more because with this midfield they can't dominate possession as much as before and players like Busquets, Rakitic and Gomes are all extremely slow and they'd get annihilated on the counter (transition) against any decent counter attacking team.

Segura said on Tv they are close to get Coutinho and Dembele. Is it true?

According to Balague, it's not true remotely. They have hit brick walls.

Both players are on long contracts with clubs that do not want to sell.

I would be absolutely shocked if Liverpool let him go at this stage.

Dembele is simple. Pay up or you're not getting him.

Barcelona are finally coming to the end of their cycle somewhat.

They are going to be a "good" team for a while it looks, as they struggle to replace key players. "Good" being a decline from the "exceptional" of the past ten years.

It is so hard to buy top players these days. The money involved is huge.

Just read Liverpool refused 114 mil for him! They are basically telling Barca to feck off

Barcelona should assume a shit year instead paying those amounts for players.
With that money they could do wonders with more patience

I am inclined to agree, get rid of this ridiculous board, but I presume only members can do that. Then start again. One bad season might serve them well in the end, then there could be better quality available next season. They are going to spend money and lots of it on players who are not the quality needed. They also need to put a number of areas right and will likely use all the money from Neymar on two players who will add to their already inflated wage bill but not fix all their issues..

Yes at this point. Liverpool and Dortmund will never sell Coutinho and Dembele with just few days of transfermarkt left.

It seems that the only option in sports planning is to form a new trident and change piece by piece. Surely Dembele will be great but 130 is an outrage, especially if in a year appears another Asensio by four million. The same in the case of Coutinho. They must assume that can't follow the rate of expenditure of financed teams

La Liga will be even more dull than usual now that Barca are crap.

Real Madrid will win the league by March.

Watching Barcelona stumble into mistake after mistake is shocking. It feels like watching United under Van Gaal, throwing money about to make up for zero planning.

Feels very much like the pre-Laporta Barcelona now. The Barca that was surpassed by Valencia and Deportivo and ended up in the UEFA Cup.

The hope they have is that Messi single handedly stops it getting that bad. I worry for Barca if Messi is out for any time though.

Pique was right, right now Madrid is superior in every way.

Absolutely. I think their board is insane. Have they not got a proper scouting department? Surely they can get some good players that fit their system instead of bidding insane fees? I'd go nuts if were a Barcelona fan.

Would that be going well with the squad? German media reported that several (senior) players demanded signings publicly in the interviews sorrounding the Super Cup.
And Barca's management relies on votes to keep their positions, right? Telling the club members that they have to sacrifice the season because they fecked up their squad planning could easily be political suicide.

Pep probably nabbed the best of their footballing people for Manchester City.

Yes,you are right, actually it's not realistic.Right now the board is in a difficult position.
They have to sign, deciding in a month the next years of the team.
The price comparisons can hurt the board as well if they don't improve the team.
I am not a Barsa fan but I'd be happier with 4 or 5 cheaper players.

And what about referendum for Catalan independence? Surely that would be another huge negative impact if they will vote 'yes'?
