Bayern München v Manchester United

I feel confident...almost as confident as I would if Fergie was in charge. Probably down to their missing players, and that they didn't rape us in the first leg.

I remind myself Moyes is in charge....we're going to get humiliated tonight :(

He will put out the same line-up as last time except Evra for Buttner and Fletcher/Jones for Fellaini

I feel that BM are more nervous about tonight that United. There is an air of confidence around Moyes & has team for tonights game. They are starting to believe in themselves again and Munich know they will have a game on their hands.

last 15 minutes at the job , hitting the pub then off to the stadium . excited as feck

They are targeting our slow defenders, so how about we throw a spanner in the works and start Smalling and Vidic as our CBs, or even Smalling and Jones!

Mandzukic is a bit of a monster so Vida is a must. He is by far our best aerial defender.

There is still little pressure on us, Bayern are expected to deliver again this season.

Do you really think so? Its not like the City and Liverpool games were an eternity ago. If Bayern are more worried about it than we are the only justification for that I can see is that we are expected to lose anyway and so there is a reduced pressure. Again, I feel this whole business about us turning things around has been somewhat over-egged.

The downside of the first leg is that it got me hoping again. I'm going to be seriously disappointed if this goes badly!

I'll be less nervous when I see Moyes pick the right team though...

I think Bayern being under more pressure has not that much to do with us than with themselves. Guardiola has already stated yesterday that he is expected to get to the final as that team won the treble last year so anything less than the final would be a failure.

A surprise in the line-up could be a good thing, it means Bayern would be less prepared for us.

Who can we spring on them that's actually good enough to cause real trouble? Hernandez maybe? Januzaj? Or start Fletcher in midfield?

The Bayern players are always under pressure. The guys that are with the FC Bayern since childhood have had this already during their youth time. They are always expected to win. There might be one or two matches a year in which it is different... If you cannot perform under pressure you are at the wrong club...

That Mia san mia just expresses that...

Look at Dortmund - if they win it is a great thing - if they loose it might be even a win for them if they played well...

I cannot remember one match of Bayern when it was appreciated to loose when playing good. It ain't even ok to play bad and win...

Some on here are seriously getting over confident.... making it out as if Bayern are cowering in fear and caving under the pressure of beating a nothing team at home with the score already being in their favour...

Yes, the optimism is perhaps misguided. But a nothing team. Come on.

Well yeah, same with United (this season is an exception to everything regarding United as you know), Barca, Real, etc., but usually Bayern and other top teams are not expected to reach the CL final every season - to get far of course - but this season as they are already the title holder and have added quality players to that treble winning squad AND appointed Guardiola the expectations seem to be extraordinary high this time.

I don't know but I hope Moyes does!

Yes. But that is normal.

But if Real does not win the Decima it is a lost year, too. They will not celebrate being in the final or semi final - and it is the same with Barcelona...

Like a second place in the Championship or the final in the Cup.

2012 would have been a great year for a lot of other clubs or about any other club... 2nd in the Bundesliga, Cup final and CL final... - but it was a year of total loss...

There is just different clubs with different ambitions. For some clubs it is enough to get in the CL the next year and to maybe get the first trophy since 8 years... ;)

-----------

Bayern already has won the Bundesliga. They meet 2nd league Kaiserslautern in the semi final of the Cup next week - so the German Cup final should be a must. And now it is the last 3 matches until the final of the CL. And that are the only 2 to 4 matches until the finals that count. Everything else just does not.

Yep, agree in general. Some are still under more pressure than others though, Barca for example haven't been obsessed this year with the CL final / CL trophy and they haven already won 3 in the last decade, whereas RM have been talking about Decima since they hired Mourinho. They have also already reached the CL semis 4 years in a row now, so anything apart from going at least one step further this time - which means reaching the final - would be a failure. Barca however could "afford" to get out today or in the semis, if you know what I mean.

I really hope we see fight and belief in the players tonight. Even if we're two goals down we've a chance of progressing, we haven't seen enough of this belief this season.

I hope if we are 2-0 down Moyes doesn't again wait until the 78th minute and then send on every striker we have.

I still think they are going to beat us 3-1 or 4-1 but crazier things have happened in football.

We used to play such quick football. And that wasn't even a classic United team.

It could have been. Going into April Rooney was on fire, having one of the best seasons in memory, and we were favourites for the league and expected to reach yet another CL final. As bad weeks go that was a pretty special one.

Let's hope Bayern are trying to have a terrible one of their own.
