Bayern München v Manchester United

Alaba. Get Alaba. Apart from that, Carrick has dawdled a bit and Valencia has run into trouble a few times when the simple ball is on. If we restrain them to hitting it from tight angles, we could be in with a shout. What was Rooney doing as well? He cut it back perfectly and then waiting for the pass. Shoot man, shoot!!

CMs are playing inside our 6 yard box on defense. It's going to be hard to get the ball upfield for counters playing like that. How long into the second half before we start going for a goal?

When Robben is in selfish mode the whole game seems to be decided on whether or not he has his shooting boots on

Good half but we need one goal. Hope we can put one past them in the second half. Bayern doesn't look much like scoring but they also don't have to so we will have to open up a bit more sooner or later, I just hope we survive that.

Rooney's chance. That shocking decision not to give a free-kick for the foul against Evra... Frustration!

Could be worse, like. Still... ugh!

Good half, a little annoyed that the ref didn't give anything for that clear foul from Lahm on Evra. They haven't troubled us too much and we look relatively decent on the break.

I'm a little confused by their formation, Lahm and Alaba effectively playing CM when they have the ball.

Robben just looks equally useless, especially if you compare both to last year.

Strange how little they're using width and offering those two support and runners beyond them. Lahm and Alaba in midfield makes absolutely no sense to me here, why cut off such a potent attacking threat just to crowd the midfield?

Defended really well.

Attack has been pretty poor. Our retention of the ball is awful and we're letting decent counter attacking opportunities slip away. We just can't seem to put decent moves together or show some conviction when we have a sight of goal. Sooner or later we're gonna need to express ourselves more and make it count.

:@
is that a stamp by Evra?

Damn, what a bore of a game. Can´t really fault United for that, but Bayern look completely out of ideas. They really hit a slump recently. So much individual qualitiy, so little urgency. Götze has morphed into some kind of safety player and the two inward forwards with off games so far.

United really has a shot here, a way bigger one than I would have expected.

Happy with that 45. Tight again in the next 15 before being more adventurous will be an ideal game plan, especially if we can get a goal in the last 30. Fellaini getting on the pitch at the 60 mark might not be a bad thing as we are bypassing the midfield and he will be able to have an aerial presence for us up top when we get forward.

Guardiola has made Bayern worse with his tiki taka shit.

I'm still pissed off over that blatant foul, would have been a good free kick position too. Fecking ref.

Bayern are there for the kill, they really are. Dante and Boateng are struggling and they aren't creating all that much.

We need some more quality in the final third. Carrick and Fletcher have been terrible, but the odd occasion that Kagawa and Welbeck have got the ball in an advanced position we've looked like troubling them.

This tie is there for us. We need some bollocks to go for it and some better control in midfield.

Defence has been very good.

Good defending, but I think the team forgot that we still need to score to advance!

Carrick has gone from our best midfielder to one if our worst. Ruining everything we do.
Even I can't defend him tonight. Both him and Fletcher have been quite poor in possession but reasonably nice and tight defensively.

DDG has had 1 real save to make in 1.5 matches so far. Guardiola snoozefest.

I don't know what you expect when we're just camped in our own half. It's hard to score against any side who does this. We are the side making this boring, not Bayern.

Hopefully we remember we need to score as well. Can't leave it to late and chase the game....

Good half. Little more incisive in second half, Januzaj introduction at around 65 min latest and we can create some good chances. There won't be plenty though, so need to take them as soon as offered.

We've been good defensively, but our spearhead (Wazza) has been poor...he had a golden chance - take a freaking shot or pass to kagawa, not stumble over yourself and give it away.

Anyone else think Rooney is playing a bit rubbish? I realise he is injured, not sure whether to bring him off or not though.

The cliche "That wouldn't be a foul in the Premier League" isn't ringing true tonight. This ref seems to be allowing all fouls. It's a shame Fellaini's not even on the bench. He could give them all a clothesline around the neck.

I can't see who'd get subbed apart from Fletcher. Would be tricky to throw Januzaj on for him, dropping Kagawa into the midfield with Carrick.

Good half from us. Defended really well and nearly had a couple of breaks in attack.

Strange how little they're using width and offering those two support and runners beyond them. Lahm and Alaba in midfield makes absolutely no sense to me here, why cut off such a potent attacking threat just to crowd the midfield?

It's indeed a bit strange but I think Pep tries to protect his defense better this way. Might backfire for them though.

You people are funny of course we were going to keep it close if possible and hit them on the break. Only one team actually put the ball in the net yes he was offside but we are we're 99 percent of u would taken before the first game. We have the quality lets see if it happens enjoy.

We need to pass the ball better. Stop the dithering and get lucky. That Evra decision is why I detest refs. It's such an easy decision to give, but they get it wrong. Amazing fecktard. Hopefully it's a better second half.

Fletcher and Carrick have been terrible but Bayern's defending from the front is admirable. The pair of them have no time...and because Welbeck/Kagawa are staying inside, the only outlet is Valencia who is being marked well by Alaba.

Tough one. We need some set pieces this half.

The Evra call was a disgrace. Him pretending to be injured was even more annoying.

Valencia's been great so far, and we've defended really well. I want welbeck to stay wide, Rooney up top and kagawa in behind. Shinji has defended well but we need him on the ball more. Need to stop giving it away so cheaply at times too.
Second half will be nerve wracking.
