he has some good movement, but need to work on his finishing.

Start against Villa in the RPL then, Stockport in the MSC might be too early for him.

Bebe nearly through, brave stop by keeper

Bebe through again credit to the keeper. But how did the ball not go in they had two more chances after that

He's been much more involved playing wide than when he was played alone up front last time, definitely seems more comfortable as a winger/wide-forward. Shown some nice bits of skill, has pace and strength, but looks very, very, raw. Despite being included in the CL squad I'd be absolutely amazed if he made a first team appearance this season.

it depend if we have qualify from the cl group stage earlier, he might have his chance.

He'll play in the CC, and maybe come on at the end of the odd league game. Even Manucho did that much, and Bebe looks way better than Manucho.

Bebe substituted.Been impressed by him.Certainly can be worked on

I think the CC will come to soon for him, at least the easy games will. And in all honesty, we have a large squad with a lot of promising youngsters, barring either a very bad injury crisis or Bebe developing and settling very very quickly, I wouldn't expect to see him in a 1st team game until next season at the earliest. Despite his being 20 he's years behind in terms of the development and training normal youngsters have.

Again I think he's looked like a player we'd be taking a keen interest in if we had never heard of him before. Big, quick, good skills. He's certainly raw, but the potential is amazing.

He will definitely get some minutes for the first team this season. Not many, but some.

We can expect Obertan to get some playing time for the first team, but I think Bebe is already a safer option in an important way: Obertan seems to have no clue how to defend. Bebe at least looks like he knows how to track back and tackle.

Big, quick, good skill, not many players possess all these qualities, usually only one or two of which you would expect from a promising young player. I think this is the type of raw talent surely worth invest in.

Just have to wait and see, but like I said, personally I don't expect to see him make a first team appearance this season.

Like Hernandez I can see him being a very useful substitute, which is the best way to phase them into the squad rotation. His power and pace are very apparent.

Norwegian scout Tor Kristian Karlsen has been following Bebe closely in his last two games for Portugal u21. After todays match, he had the following to say on his twitter profile:

effective when allowed to roam wide, needs acres of space ahead of him. very pacy, strong and direct. better movement today.

one vs one skills are unquestionable. less effective in the middle due to limited tactical understanding and close control/technique

but was quite impressed with the way he timed his runs from wide to central (goalscoring positions)

as we know, rough around the edges. shooting technique, heading (coordination, jumping technique) need serious fine tuning

but pace, directness can potentialy scare living daylight out of defenders (esp. when coming off bench)

He is a winger, so I think it is a bit unfair to criticise his close control -Karlsen-, which was actually good I thought. My concern is his crossing, its not very dangerous. Worked hard and much better at defending than Obertan. Overall, he was a million times better than against England.

I see him playing on the wide left.

What does 'needs acres of space ahead of him' mean? Is his ball control that bad? Is he a good dribbler?

He's a good dribbler 1-on-1 and has lots of pace, but he's not good at finding space in tight situations, hence "needs acres of space ahead of him".

It's basically just saying that he needs to work on his awareness and understanding of the game, footballing intelligence if you will

What the feck is serious fine tuning?

That's like the advert in Cheetham Hill for quality used tyres

It means he needs a lot of work. The raw potential is there, it needs to be sculpted away and polished. Why split hairs with semantics when it seems the scout is in a better position to give a fair assessment?

limited tactical understanding and close control/technique - so yes, if you believe the scouts report is accurate then his ball control skills aren't that good. (yet)
