Benitez to Chelsea Discussion & Sack watch

Its seeming more than just an internet rumour now, which is great.

You have Roman, an oligarch who's ego is so big he uses the football club like real life footie manager, blatantly and without a care what people think of him, you have a bunch of the biggest self important egotistical cnuts ever assembled into a playing squad.

And then you have Rafa Benitez , a man who has fallen out with every single boardroom he has ever worked for, a man who demands totalitarian authority over players and a man who could start an argument in an empty room.

What could possibly go wrong.

players like oscar and hazard view english clubs as a stepping stone to madrid or barca. It's not about achievements as it is about getting the stage, the money, and the chance to be virtually guarunteed week in week out.

hazard specifically didn't want to go to those two because he wanted to play week in week out first and foremost. I don't think he's really arsed what he achieves in the english game as long as he develops his skills, plays week in week out, shows he has talent, and gets a wedge for doing so. If he wins trophies great, if he doesn't..it doesn't matter because he'll be off to madrid or barca before he's 25.

Same with Oscar IMO. Oscar keeps developing, feckall chance he's staying in blighty past 24.

That said with oscar, i don't think fergie would know how to use him right and we showed zero interest in him anyways unfortunately.

I read a post on RAWK quoting a Chelsea fan who was complaining that appointing Rafa will go against Chelsea's 'traditions and principles'. Hilarious.

I think Benitez and Comrade are made for each other. Both clueless and arrogant beyond belief.

Well said. Still can't imagine the courting process Roman went through to persuade them to join with a quasi interim manager like De Matteo at the helm.

The thought that they were being guaranteed first team football by the owner and not the 'manager' only proves to solidify your point.
 
The last time Benitez took over the defending Champions League winners, he did a fecking shite job, here's hoping he gets the job and repeats the feat.

Anyway - I was under the impression that Benitez would only be a caretaker manager til the end of the season. I do think this has been done solely to get Torres firing again - until Guardiola comes in the summer at least.
 
He is a great tactician and with a lot of money behind him he could do well there, problem with him is always his man management and how he always looks to blame others. His track record is decent, at Liverpool for a few seasons he did have them competing well and he did well at Valencia, people point out that since leaving Liverpool haven't done better well he is the reason they are in his mess in the first place! The season he left they had finished 7th in the league so not like they have done much worse since he left!

What sums him up is his time at Inter, when despite a poor start to the season, Moratti backed him up and showed full support and then after winning them the World club cup he started bad mouthing Moratti & co for not giving him more to spend in the summer. He was then shown the door soon after and rightfully so. Just shows what an ungrateful cnut he is, all the success is down to him whereas the blame lies with someone else when things go wrong.

Another thing with Benitez is he was always moaning about not having full control over which players were being signed and sold. If he comes into Chelsea he'll have even less control

Benitez has his faults but (in my view) too many big-time Inter players weren't prepared to give him a chance...they were still in love with José.

After looking at all the 'likely' candidates for the managers position at Chelsea, the best choice has to be Harry Redknapp. He knows the english league, plays good football. I mean for goodness sake, he got sp*rs into a title race. Benitez is a wild-card IMO, could be excellent or go horribly wrong. Guardiola is the worst choice, he would need the time to adapt, and as we all know you don't get that here. Whoever takes over, I fully expect them to last under a year anyway.

It might be that Abramovic still hasnt given up on his favourite player and wants to reunite Torres with the only manager who got him to play great football. Perhaps Chelsea will even go back in for Gerrard.
