“It wasn’t a great season for him last season, partly because I settled more with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck... and Chicharito.
And the same will probably happen this season.

Bringing him on the tour is a good idea, those clubs that are unsure on him should hopefully see him have some game time. I just hope we can actually play him.
Whatever transfer fee United are holding out for will also be a factor.
Last couple of comments are unfair on him. A player his quality and transfer fee is a good investment at 90k pw
Going on the tour apparently.
I'd be surprised if this is true to be perfectly honest. United have a history of letting players leave for reasonable prices when they are surplus to requirements, I can't see Fergie setting an outrageous price of say £15m.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised given his wage package and the fact I'm sure that he knows this will be his last payday contract (so will want a 3-4 year deal) if he was allowed to go for £5-6m.
You'd have let PIG go for free if he'd budge. That's certainly been true with younger players but not always the case with more senior pros, especially recently. I mean, look at the way PIG ended up running his contract down before he got the move he wanted.
It's almost certainly the wages to how much they rate him ratio. If he were on £50-60k a week there'd probably be 6-7 clubs in the Premier League alone chasing him.
If he sticks around to leave on a free next year, the decision to retain him last summer will wind up costing us £25M/£30M!!!
Not much value there.
Yeah but you'd think with him being unhappy someone would come in and offer him a chance at first team football on reduced wages... So it'd be his choice. According to Sir Alex nobody is in contact about him
I am pretty sure we would have allowed him to leave if a team had made a bid last summer.

Weren't PSG reputed to have bid for him? They'd hardly have been deterred by wages.

Id prefer to keep him if he would stay. Don't like the treatment he got last season plus we need to spend on other areas urgently and blatantly don't have much money.
Id rather have him as 4th choice striker than rely on young Powell or the shit Macheda.

One last opportunity to see his beautiful technique on display for United![]()
I find this strange. I really cannot see Ferguson getting him enough time to play with Rooney, Chicha, Welbeck and Kagawa pushing for 2 positions.
So, if he will stay in the club and play 10 games a season, it means that it will cost us more than 10 millions which I think is very expensive.

going on the tour? if I remember correctly we brought Veron on one and sold him at the end of it. Yorkie too I think. the yorke situation seems a little similiar. Fergie had clearly given up on him and made it known he was available but had him around the club til the right offer came in. Still think Berba will be sold sooner rather than later. dont think he is in Fergies plans at all
He did his jaw-dropping cross and was gone a few weeks later.
^ was it the pass that ruud finished it off with a brilliant chest control and volley?
aye - I remember on the US tour Fergie getting a bit tetchy when pushed on the Veron issue, saying "he's not going anywhere and has a future here" or words to that effect. He did his jaw-dropping cross and was gone a few weeks later.
Might as well just cut our losses on Berbs.
