Berbatov | Fulham player

Sorry mate, I misread it. I thought that you said the guy who won the title for us which was debated for a long time here and which is completely nonsense to even be mentioned. About the scoring title, indeed he won it though I don't share the view that he could have helped us last year.

No one player can win the title for a team. Anyone suggesting otherwise is foolish. However, i don't think it can be denied that Berbatov played a significant part, particularly when Rooney was in such dire form. As such, I don't see why Berbatov couldn't have helped last year. But we'll never know.

Completely agree. We wouldn't have won the title without him, but that is valid for many other players.

We could never know as you say. I think that if he played more we could have lost the title by some points, though that is completely speculations.

Didnt his agent say that Berbas future would be resolved on Monday?

Seems his agent is more interested in stuffing his face:

Dimitar Berbatov said:
Everything is going to be ok, stay calm, but me and my agent, we need to eat too:))..And don't read to many newspapers, they write whatever they want..:))..

I think this  should be renamed Berbatov in his memory :(

I don't believe we would have won the title had Berbatov played more in the home games but you can't deny he would have finished off more of those chances Welbeck wasted.

Yes probably although Berbs is 10 years older than Welbeck and at his age he was playing in Leverkusen reserves, where as Welbeck has had a season at Sunderland and a title season year with us battling Man City!! Fast forward 10 years and who know's where Welbeck could be. He has pace but that's not all his game, he's very creative/technical I think.

If Berba had pace throughout his career he would be seen as the dog's bollocks now and be a focal point of our attack for a couple of years more.

Berbatov did fine without pace though, he has mashed up the Premier league with Spurs and was top scorer. Barcelona players don't seem to need pace to make it. Not all players have the touch and skills of Dimitar.

Scoring four past Everton should have been enough every day of the week. Even though we lost it on goal difference, I never felt we really lost the title because we didn't score enough goals. We scored enough.

that makes sense but SAF has seen reason enough to sharpen us up, upfront. Not the first time he's pulled a stroke that surprised everybody and unfolded into a team transformed. Hopefully.

The one thing I wish he'd sort out is this dilatory response to taking a one or two goal lead and then blowing it. Also, the lack of fightback, which has always been a characteristic aspect of his teams.

Might suit em, id be pretty sure we would be willing to accept any bids for him at this stage. He aint gonna be getting any games even with Rooney currently injured unless of course our forwards start dropping like centre halves :nervous:

Berba will take to the Serie A and the Florence sun like a duck to water. Can just see him now lobbing delicious shots over the keepers head from 15 yards out with absolutely no defensive pressure put on him. In fact he could probably play in Italy in silk pyjamas camped outside the D on a deckchair, not sure the gun would be allowed though.

Best of luck to him if it's true. I still can't believe Milan hasn't gone in for him. I know they want to get younger, but they are desperately short of quality up front.

Daft question.

I don't think it is. SAF kept him around last season, despite having no intention of playing him. Now Rooney's out and our leading striker is a player with a long history of injuries. One blow to RVP, and we're down to Welbeck and Hernandez leading the line (not a prospect I'd relish.)

That being said, I think SAF will do the right thing (for both club and player,) and sell Berbatov.

There is no more point to keeping Berba now, than there was last summer. Welbeck and Hernandez have to be trusted to do the job, when needed. If they are not good enough to do that, what is the point of having them?

I am not worried at all by our strikers, we have more than enough options, especially with Angelo Henriquez coming in too!

You want to worry, worry about Carrick getting injured and the potential midfield pairings we have in his absence. Don't want a discussion on it here there are plenty of other threads for that, just pointing out that up front should be the very least of our worries!

Release him, let him run elegantly and unlaboured on pastures new - Florenze seems a perfect destination for his grace and sumptuous first touch.

I'm going to miss him. Watching him play is a thing of beauty, but it's for the best that we part ways now. I Love you Berba, like I never knew I could love another man. May you enjoy your twilight in the Serie A.

Shame he couldn't go to a bigger team, unfortunately SAF scuppered his chances of PSG or similar by benching him for a year when he could have sold him.

Still Fior are an exciting team and have a chance of Europe next year, best of luck to him and thanks for number 19. I fully expect him to be a big success in Serie A and play into his mid thirties.

The Serie A slower pace would suit him perfectly especially after his Epl experience. I wont be surprised if ends up being the best player over there. He ll enjoy playing with Jovetic.
Good Luck Dimi!

I'll make this statement here and now:

Even after his departure, I swear I will never again allow myself to enjoy an exquisite first touch, never again. I will never have myself feel joy at watching another man caress the ball, guiding it gently into the soft touch of the green grass, before dallying with it, almost unnecessarily, for what seems like an eternity, like someone holding their girl in their arms for an hour after satisfying her. Never again.

It wouldn't technically be adultery, but much like a man refusing to take another wife, staying faithful to the memory of his beloved and deceased wife, so will I stay true to Berbatov and his unprecedented sexiness. Even if he departs for Fiorentina.

Oh, Berba, I will love you until my end. Longingly will I watch surprisingly boring matches just to catch a glimpse of your deceptively strong body in the purple shirt, dreaming of what could and should have been.

Farewell!

Agreed. For absolutely no benefit to either Berba or us. Didn't PSG offer £18m for him? If so it's cost us the difference in whatever pittance we get for him now, plus probably another £7.5m in wages since then too.

My bet is we end up losing out on what we actually get for him now, as opposed to what it has cost us to keep him since the PSG offer was turned down. Shrewd bit of business that :wenger:

Is this a piss take?

Is this a piss take?

Only partly.

For I do have a soft spot for Berba. And I always will have.

Ultimately it didn't work out for him at United, but I'll still remember his goals, his touches and some of the moments he's given me as a United-supporter for ever.

Serie A should be perfect for him.

Very good player but it didn't really work out for him here and a terrific professional - his attitude was fantastic whilst he was with us despite being dropped for the CL final and being benched after finishing with the top scorer award.

Good luck to him.

Farewell Berbatov, you were a terrific servant to the club and your name will be remembered in a positive light. Good luck in Fiorentina, and in general, I hope you won't be "mistreated" there too.

Shame it couldn't work out because of the difference in playing style, but damn is he talented.

Well said, he was joy to behold.

Shame it didn't become all that we hoped it would.

I've heard Fiorintina have invested in some nice players recently but I just can't help but think that Berbatov is too good for them.

He would score loads for Spurs, Arsenal, big German and Italian sides.

the save at the end line with the little flip of the ball over the defender and quick pass to the sliding ronaldo.

My main memory of him will be him constantly moaning at other players, he was abit of a bully on the pitch tbh. Not as good as some on here think he is either, I think it's fair to say Spurs was his level.

One of my main memories will be caftards constantly moaning about him constantly moaning at other players. The over-sensitive fannies.

I just want him gone now. This prolonged departure is all a bit undignified for a player who's shown the club and manager so much respect when many others would act like ungracious arseholes in his predicament. Shame it didn't work out at United but our attacking football definitely seemed to improve when Fergie paired Rooney with Welbeck/Hernandez instead, which is really all that matters.

This overwrought Berbasex goop turned so many off to him.

Bid accepted, Fiorentina will pay 5 million € in 3 yrs

Now his agent, the laziest agent of all times, will deal with Fiorentina.

Mental.

My main memory of him will be the season when he was top scorer, and helped us win number 19.

Thanks Berba
