Why did our first choice strike partnership need improving?
Rooney Saha was first choice, Tevez, was never more than a regularly needed back up.

Right, we splashed out 30m to replace a squad player? And if Tevez hasn;t made an impact by scoring goals then we should stop calling him an attacking. How about a Dirk Kuyt?
Tevez is about as good as Berbatov. They're both hit and miss.
Right, so Tevez was just a squad player?
Saha would have started the season as first choice if he had been fit. He never was.
Berbatov replaced him, he's fit and he starts in front of Tevez.
Yes, lets stop calling Tevez "an attacking player." It sounds spastic anyway. Mind you, you're the only person who ever called him that.
Kuyt had a better record in europe last season than Wayne Rooney. 11 games and 5 goals to Rooney's 11 games and 4 goals.
Tevez probably isnt quite as good as Berbatov. But he seems to suit the side better and fit the side much better last season than Berbatov has this season. We also got him cheap as chips (so far) and he's significantly younger than Berbatov. He's 3 years younger. 3 years ago Berbatov was a £10 million player. So lets see how much Tevez improves because in all likelyhood he should end up better.
And attacking player?
Basically, both are a much of a muchness and Tevez's record isn;t as good as Berbatov's at United.
Thanks.
Yep, in that given a fully fit Saha he'd have been on the bench. Much like the Fletcher Hargreaves situation this year.
If you consider goals against Aalborg as important as goals against Liverpool then yes.
well, we don't know that.
I'd put money on it, give me odds and I'll start writing the letter to Ferguson.
We've played LFC in the CL?
And I do consider goals against Chelsea as important as goals against Liverpool.
You're not very good as this lark are you?
As I said, both aren't hits.
And who said that? Making things up to suit your argument.
Both scored against Chelsea. Surely that cancels each other out? So where are Berbatov's big important goals like Tevez' against Liverpool?
Aalborg.
And you're wrong, obviously.
Christ, you're obtuse.
And now when your argument is stretched and you cant reply to someone else's points, you insult them.
Clever dick.
Basically you don't know.
Money has nowt to do with it.
So, he scored three important goals.
But without checking I'm sure Berbatov won us a few tight games this season(some stato will back me up). And he's got 4 in 4 in Europe.
As I said, both a much of a muchness.
Would you give odds against it?
Again, you've not said anything. Other than 'He was a hit! I said so!'
Tevez last season a goal every 2.52. Berbatov, this season, a goal every 2.23
. Tevez was so great that Fergie shelled out on a £30m striker. A player Tevez has played second fiddle to this season.
Like yesterday, well done, Ekeke. Well done.
Has a lot to do with it. We may not even have signed Tevez if his final fee was requested up front and no loan deal was ever made. We chose to take him with the loan deal and we're yet to decide whether we want him on a full term.
Negative. He scored 3 important goals against top teams that led to us winning the league and the champions league. We wouldnt have done it without his goals in big games.
All against weak opposition except Chelsea who were already 2 goals down.
Would you give odds against it?
I think he would've gone with Rooney-Tevez given the choice.
Kuyt scored 5 goals in 11 matches in the champions league last season, Rooney scored 4 in 11 matches. Clearly Kuyt is better then
Berbatov replaced Saha.
Fergie tried to sign Berbatov the same summer he signed Tevez according to Jol, we were interested for ages. I reckon he was planning to phase Saha out after his run of injuries the season before. Both Berbatov and Tevez would not have played second string to Saha. His injury proneness had marked his card before the start of last season. Fergie delibarately rested Saha by using Larsson plenty and when Larsson left Saha was back injured again.
Obviously not.
Exactly and we tried to get Berbatov & Tevez that summer but could not get Berbatov. Fergie's been after Berbatov ever since he signed for Spurs, abit like Hargreaves we chased him for ages. I reckon we would have dispensed with Saha a season earlier if Fergie could have got his man quicker. Not that Saha was not a good player, he was, but his injuries made him too much of a risk to make a focal point of the team.
Basically, you're moving the goalposts. He's won us points this season. Whether they were against average sides or the top four. Points are points.
As for the money, no it doesn't matter. we're comparing what they've done on the field. If anything we've lost £10m on Tevez. There's no resale for us.
As I said, both hit and miss. A goal every 2.52 = hit. . .then feck knows what a goal every 2.23 is.
Better than, Ekeke, better than.
He scored 8 goals last season. Rooney scored 18. Again, well done Ekeke.
Seriously, you're awful at this.
Better than? That makes no sense. Better than would only be correct if something came after it. Nothing did.
Nobody said any different. But in europe he scored more than Rooney which shows that goals to games dont show absolutely everything because clearly Rooney is a better player than Kuyt.
You're blindly following your stats because they suit your fictitious argument. Its a bit sad really.

There's no resale for Berbatov either. We wont be selling him after 1 season and if we sell him after next, we'll get barely anything anyway.
The difference is we didnt have to put a £32 million downpayment on Tevez. He cost a lot less up to now.
At no point did I say Tevez' goals won us more points against average sides. We were battering average sides for fun last season with Tevez in the side, not winning by the odd goal, which explains why Berbatov has scored more 'important' goals against rubbish teams this season than Tevez did last season. His goals against the non-big teams werent as important. But his goals against the big teams and his goal against Lyon were extremely important to our success that season and so far all Berbatov has to offer in that same context is a goal against Chelsea when they were already 2 goals down. Very unimportant goal that.
You're obtuse.
Anyway, was Forlan a hit? Scored some very important goals.
As I said, had he been 'A HIT!', he wouldn't have played seconf fiddle this season.
And I have no doubt, he'll be moving on in the summer. Not bad for 'A HIT!'.
Again, so much of a hit, he's played second fiddle to Berbatov this season.
Was Forlan a hit? Yes, not for us. And he did score some important goals, over multiple seasons not just the one. Too bad they were the only goals he scored and took so long to start scoring them. Would have come good had we not signed a similar player and decided to let him go for £1 million. Turns out you can get £18 million and a player for him.
Why not move on? His time here will be done. One hit season where he had ridiculous success and another where he wasnt able to establish himself as first choice.
Hasnt everyone?
He failed at United despite his match winners against Chelsea and Liverpool. Tevez has been hit and miss despite a couple of important goals. Berbatov has been hit and miss, and I'm sure he'll move on next season(or get replaced in the first team) if he doesn't show what he can do consistently.

Match winners against Chelsea and Liverpool when they werent our biggest rivals for the title. They came 4th and 5th with even Newcastle above them.
Which mean's Tevez's winner against Liverpool is largely irrelevent seeing as he scored against the team that ended up fourth not challenging for the league.
Anyway this whole argument is stupid. Neither Tevez nor Berbatov have been sensational and the team going forward is very much reliant on Rooney and Ronaldo.
You never watched him for Spurs though, so how would you know?
So all you losers who attack the poster/poster's name instead what the poster is saying, don't stop. Getting personal is a sign that someone is losing an argument.![]()
