The Caf's worst songwriter
Looks like Saha.
In the meantime United's long-term pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov is understood to be snagged on the problem that the European champions have offered Tottenham Hotspur a deal comprising cash plus a player that they value in total at around £25m. Tottenham have rejected the deal and told United that they want to be paid in cash for their star striker and that they value him at closer to £30m.
Ferguson raised the stakes yesterday in his attempts to sign the 27-year-old when he said that United had "made a bid for one player who would enhance us a great deal". He did not name Berbatov but he did not have to; United have identified the Bulgarian international as the man to fulfil the role of an out-and-out centre-forward. Roque Santa Cruz is regarded as a back-up target behind Berbatov.
United's approach of offering a combination of a player and money demonstrates a more parsimonious attitude to transfers than they have entertained in the recent past when they laid out big cash fees on signings such as Rio Ferdinand, Juan Sebastian Veron, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney.

Have offered a player as part of the package according to the independent.
Did you read the article mate? We made an offer first as you said but they told us that wasnt what they wanted and we made another offer in cash. The last offer is the one Fergie mentioned yesterday and was pretty confident that was a good one.

Has Fergie said anything about Berbatov or are we just assuming at this point?
No other team in world football would have paid what we did for hargreaves.
Whereas I think a number of teams would have paid 20-25mil or so for berbatov. Add the utd premium to the fee and its not that bad.
Where are these number of teams.?
Its all bluff and counter bluff at this point. If we were not interested in him you genuinely belive a striker the quality of berbatov who wants to leave would still be at spurs come the end of the season with teams like barcelona, arsenal, liverpool, NEWCASTLE!! in the market for strikers?
Our interest is likely to ward off a number of clubs much like it did in the tevez saga because we have a tendency to inflate fees!
I pray it isn't Berbatov. He will be a flop
If he does actually sign hycool im sure one of the greatest managers who has ever lived will be more aware of whether he will be a "flop" than you are.
Fergie's had his fair share of disasters so i think he's entitled to voice that opinion....however wrong it is.
I did not dismiss his opinion and he has also had more than his fair share of successes. I said Ferguson would be a better judge on that happening if he did sign. Which is true.
between spending 30million on berbatov and 30 milliono n benzema
I know where I want my money to go
hmmm, so if someone had come out with the same statement before veron signed you'd be saying the same....
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3832936,00.htmlManchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he has lodged a bid for Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov.
United have been tracking the Bulgarian striker for a number of months and now they have firmed up their interest with an official bid.
It is not yet known the extent of United's bid for the 27-year-old although reports claim it is below £25million which is said to be Spurs' asking price.
But Ferguson is confident he will land Berbatov.
"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," he said as he jetted out with his player's ahead of United pre-season tour of South Africa.
"Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack.
"I think time will work for us more than against us.
"We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future."
S.A.F. did not name the club but Sky Sports speculated on his behalf.
Thats what I thought, so many websites reporting that we have lodged a bid for a player but only one or two like the used to be reliable SKySports, declaring the Berbatov statement. I watched an interview of SAF at the airport yesterday on MUTV. He said a player.. didn't mention a name??

How do you know that?
The quotes in the article above though are direct from SAF
It's been obvious that it would be Berbatov for over 6 months now, perhaps longer..
bbest SSN have just taken that from the "exclusive" from The Sun from this morning, not the interview yesterday. Whether the quotes are true or not is a different manner.
Skysports has really gone downhill this summer
Thus declares Alex the great one. *winks
Yes, Based on earlier reports

I believe S.A.F. and Neil Curtis are exactly oil and fire, no?
