He'd certainly add experience to the squad

Turnover of players especially two of your best ones is always going to be damaging even if it is just an adjustment period, that six also depends on future transfers. Tactically of course if Ramos gets it right you should concede less and it wont be the case of you score five we will score six. However, do you really see Bent, Dos Santos and the new forwards being mentioned having the quality to win tight tactical games for you on their own. Berbatov and Keane are capable of that.
Yes, it could take time for so many new players to gel and get used to a new formation - that's a risk, but probably unavoidable.

However, this is the first time that Ramos has been in charge for a pre-season training period at Spurs - last season he had little time for coaching since he was immediately caught up in fire-fighting and a fast and furious schedule of mostly 2 games per week across 4 fronts. So I expect he'll use this time well and things may well adapt more quickly than many might expect.

By all accounts Ramos is really putting them through the training ringer out in Spanish heat right now - really hard and intensive. If the photos are anything to go by the players all look ripped and ultra-fit. Huddlestone especially looks physically transformed compared to this time last year. I have a feeling there'll be no fitter squad in the Prem next season.

Well, alongside Bent and Dos Santos there'd be Modric and maybe Bentley also, and Huddlestone's a good playmaker from deeper in midfield, so all in all that would be a reasonably potent attacking midfield and striker force. I'd see plenty of potential for winning tight tactical games.

Peter Greene also plays Zed in Pulp Fiction, has his own gimp and rapes men.

Pogue may be on to something! :smirk:

Whoah. This thread has taken a very gay little detour.

He does look hot though, doesn't he?

Ooh, that's a very interesting hidden line!

Only multiple pictures of Ronaldo's many, many ex-girlfriends can save us

i hope the lad dos Santos does well. really like him as a player.

BBC gossip reckons that Barcelona are going to turn there attention to Berbatov as talks with Arsenal over Adebayor have stalled.

Spurs may just have got themselves a real bargain with Dos Santos. He looks the real deal. If he can adapt to the premier league :nervous:

Funny shit. Why you think Barca got rid of him? It's not like he never scored for them, He wasnt better than Bojan and his chances were pretty limited.

If he was as good as you may think Gudjohnsen would have got kicked before him.

The lad is a good player but nothing amazing, let's see how he develops on the Premier.

Glaston got pretty excited about the couple of goals the lad got in his first pre-season game (8-0) but it wasnt against a good team (Tavernes).

If Berbatov were to end up at Barca, who's the most likely option for SAF thereafter?

Huntelaar
Gomez
Menez
Other

What about Eto'o - could he leave his ego aside to join the greatest club on the globe?

In fairness, we United fans have a tendency to over hype youngsters that are coming through the ranks or recently joined. FFS, people have already included the likes Manucho and the Silva twins in future squad lists.

If Keane and Berbatov both leave then I'm sure we'll sign a new striker - and depending on who that is then maybe the new player (and not Bent) would be the main man in a lone striker system.

I'm only saying that Bent is used to the lone striker system and suits it well. His league goals record at Charlton was excellent, so I see no reason why he couldn't duplicate that at Spurs given a regular run of games - especially with a strong attacking midfield in support, far better than he ever had at Charlton.

I dont disagree...ive just got my ramos head on and ill be amazed if he isnt looking to bring someone in from somewhere like la liga to fufil that role...maybe even someone he's worked with because i just doubt he'd trust bent with it.

I actually rate bent pretty highly but he's one of those players who really really needs to be playing every week to get a rythm. You can see it in the way he plays. Great finisher when he's confident

Fast as feck too. I hope he either moves on this summer or comes good at Spurs next year, because I rate him as potentially the best partner for Rooney for England.

ALEX FERGUSON says he is convinced Manchester United will land Dimitar Berbatov before the start of the season.

The Old Trafford chief has spoken about his hunt for the Tottenham striker for the first time.

He started tracking the 27-year-old Bulgarian ace seven years ago and confirmed United have made a bid.

Fergie said: “We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through.

“Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack.”

United slapped in a £22million bid but Spurs are holding out for more.

Fergie ideally wanted the deal done before he left with his squad for the tour of South Africa.

But he is still confident the transfer will go through despite interest from Spanish giants Barcelona.

Berbatov is wanted by Barca to replace Ronaldinho, who has joined AC Milan, with Samuel Eto’o also on the way out.

Fergie said: “I think time will work for us more than against us.

“We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future.”

But Fergie insists the Berba deal does not mean Cristiano Ronaldo will join Real Madrid.

He added: “We will handle the situation in the best manner.”

In the meantime United's long-term pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov is understood to be snagged on the problem that the European champions have offered Tottenham Hotspur a deal comprising cash plus a player that they value in total at around £25m. Tottenham have rejected the deal and told United that they want to be paid in cash for their star striker and that they value him at closer to £30m.

Ferguson raised the stakes yesterday in his attempts to sign the 27-year-old when he said that United had "made a bid for one player who would enhance us a great deal". He did not name Berbatov but he did not have to; United have identified the Bulgarian international as the man to fulfil the role of an out-and-out centre-forward. Roque Santa Cruz is regarded as a back-up target behind Berbatov.

United's approach of offering a combination of a player and money demonstrates a more parsimonious attitude to transfers than they have entertained in the recent past when they laid out big cash fees on signings such as Rio Ferdinand, Juan Sebastian Veron, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney.

Have offered a player as part of the package according to the independent.

Most likely it's Saha. If Louis can stay fit and they get their 22 mil, they'd be quite happy with the outcome.
