Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

I've always said this, Pep has never created anything. He always found a group of great players and added 1 or 2. That is why I will never think of Guardiola as being a better manager than Mourinho. Mourinho has the ability to build things from scratch, to make something happen out of nothing.

Wtf is this from the press conference

Pep on being told MCFC didn't win a tackle in first 35 mins: 'I'm not coaching tackles. I'm not training for tackles ... what's tackles?'

Tackles is such tacky, simplistic and brutish stuff. It is simply beneath the great footballing connoisseur that is Pep.

Attack being his defence. He isn't going to change it Karen.

I have to say I've been sucking his dick for a while now, but today was probably my first 2nd thought. He is stubborn to the extreme.

We quite literally can't defend and that is suicide in this league. He said he was schooled in counter attacking teams, that's how they play in Germany against the big teams.

So I'm wondering why he used a back 3 against the quickest team in the division.

Pep needs a world class midfield that will rarely lose the ball in order for his system to work. At Barcelona he had Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets. At Bayern Munich, he had Xabi Alonso, Thiago, and Vidal. Right now at City his midfield is not yet on par with what he would ideally like, so his system is very vulnerable to counterattacking teams

Thing with bluemoon is that the minute anyone on there doubts pep they're called a rag. it's actually embarrassing.

Nail head hit the on the. Pep will never do what mourinho did with Porto. That was a bigger achievement than many credit him for.

Tbf any team would look great with a world class midfield.

From Stones thread:
will be class with a settled defence. i feel sorry for him, no experience or cb next to him. a shit keeper and a left back that can't defend. all the media seem to be after him swell, just like with sterling

now you really are going to cause those who have Pep's cock in their mouths to choke.

Was a huge achievement. A 2nd tier team will probably never win a CL again.

Given that a shite Liverpool team won it the year after, and Chelsea were a bit naff when they won it a few years ago, I'm not sure we can say that with any certainty at all. Even Jose's Inter weren't what I'd call "top" tier.

Chelsea are a level above Porto though

Porto have more European history than Chelsea. I assume Atlético isn't either then?

2nd tier = not from PL/LIGA/SERIE A/BULI?
Chelsea reached the final a few years earlier and reached semi final after semi final. They were robbed of 2 finals in a row.
That side had pedigree. Porto were nowhere pre Mourinho

Chelsea arent a 2nd tier club

Well it depends whether we're talking about reputation or actual quality at the time of winning the competition. Given that Jose's Porto had won basically everything they were in the year before, including the UEFA Cup, and won the league again the season they won the CL, I'm not sure why you'd consider a Chelsea team that finished 6th the year they won it "top tier" ahead of them.

A few years is a long time in football.

United won it in 2008, reached the final in 2009, and again in 2011, but had Moyes somehow won the thing in 2014 whilst finishing 7th in the league, they'd have been seen as more of a 2nd tier side, at best, particularly given the two previous years had seen them get knocked out in the group stages and then in the first knockout round.

Chelsea won it in 2012 following a quarter final and a first knockout elimination, and were of such European pedigree that the year after they won it, they ended up getting knocked out in the group stage the season after. Chelsea were better between 2005 and 2008 than they were when they finally won the thing.

Just because Porto were nowhere pre-Mourinho doesn't mean that other teams to win the CL weren't considered top tier when they won it.

Also, hahahaha Bluemoon fecking idiots.

The absolute cringe on this forum when City had a good start and hit form early under Pep. Now what? The only thing the have is KDB.

And who gave them the pedigree you refer to? Same manager.

Imagine what Liverpool will do to them if they turn-up at Anfield with that kind of performance  I didn't realise how vital Fernandinho is to them under Pep.

I think there is a bit of blinkered vision there. I think both of them have had the luxury of having very good players in their squads. Pep managed to get the best out his barca squad and then maintained a very high level of football with very astute purchases. Jose took over an underperforming Porto side that had some excellent players, he didn't add much in his first season but got them playing to a high standard. I wouldn't say he started from scratch. Be very interesting to see who comes out on top over the coming years. Neither are starting from scratch this year, but they both have serious challenges to their reputation.

They can't defend or keep a clean sheet with Fernandinho in the side, he'll be better than Roy Keane by the time his ban is up

True enough I suppose, but they aren't usually as bad as against Leicester with him in the side

At Barca he had the best midfield in the world. Then at Bayern he had the best midfield in the world. You're effectively saying he needs the best midfield in the world for his system to work?

No way they can defend Aguero's red. Intentional, two footed and knee high with intent to injure. Should be 6 games at least.
Yep agree. Im very surprised its only 4 games given an almost identical two footed challenge on Luiz a couple of years back. He has former on the same player which says a lot imo.

Did City fans come up with PEG as a nickname for Mourinho?

That's gold.

You should check out my list of nicknames they have for United players and managers old and new in the Bluemoon thread. They really are a funny bunch!
