You also have to wonder (in the hypothetical scenario where Guardiola fails) what City's owners make of the Barcelona revolution. They have spent ungodly amount over the last 5-6 years, not only on the team but also on the scouting and the academy, in the hope of emulating Barcelona. They hired Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain to run the show. Their record in the transfer market has been appalling- the money they've spent on Fernando, Dzeko, Jovetic, Mangala, Otamendi and others who haven't made the grade was all probably tolerated because they were the goose that was going to lay the golden egg i.e bring Guardiola to Manchester City. They've basically spent the last 4 years chasing Pep, and all their activities have been built around the idea of Guardiola doing at City what he did at Barcelona. What happens if all of that amounts to nothing?
