Thanks although it is 10 months since I got french nationality but they do a ceremony once a year. Sure you won't have a problem. An 83 year old British woman I know got it at the same time and she's lived here 20 years.
All the British people I know here have now covered themselves by getting french nationality or a Carte de Séjour.

The Lyon prefecture are terrible. I applied for my carte de sejour back in January. After 4 months (and endless phone calls) they finally told us they must have ‘lost the application’ and I should reapply. I’ve applied 3 times so far and still heard nothing. My French girlfriend has now decided we’re going to go there and make our displeasure clear in person next week. I feel sorry for whoever will end up facing her wrath.

Best thing would be to go in person. A couple I know got their Cartes de Séjour within a very short space of time at the Limoges Préfecture. Just unlucky if you come across a pain in the backside dealing with your file. Tell your girlfriend to give them hell.
I think it’ll be more a case of me trying to hold her back. She’s adorable, but absolutely terrifying when she gets angry.

I saw Hilary Benn on Sky News insisting that Labour should make their position clear because voters are confused.
He was also talking about a referendum with three choices.
Remain, an agreed deal and no deal so the people could decide and then straight away said no deal would not be accepted by parliament.
Labour's position is now clear..... as mud.

Rubbish. The whole leave campaign was based on there being a deal. Just about any mention of a hard Brexit by remainers was ridiculed as being alarmist by leavers.
Events since have ably demonstrated that nobody had thought the options through. If they had we wouldn't be in such a shit show now.
The only sane way forward is a new referendum.

A new referendum would have to keep no deal off the ballot paper. There's no legitimate reason why no deal should be a option other then it's popular with certain section of the public.

Any talk of a 2nd referendum leads me to only one conclusion... it wont work
Getting a question format let alone an actual question agreed will take months (if not years when legal challenges are taken account of) and as there is so many options / opinions probably at least 75% of people dont agree with the format / question and feel it is a stitch up.
e.g.
we voted to leave there fore any 2nd referendum should only be between no deal and an exit deal
It should be a re-run of the last referendum
It should be the W.A. vs remain
It should be no deal vs remain
or perhaps it should be 3 options on the ballot
Remain, leave with deal or leave with no deal.... but shoudl it be straight majority, alternative vote or simply rule out the option you dont want
or should it be a staged question leave / remain... and if leave then leave with no deal or with a deal .... but who should get to vote in the 2nd stage ... only those who believe in leaving anyway or everybody

Time is against us and remember Macron's throwing a tantrum over a longer deadline, I can't see why he'd be up for extending it more.

Whether we like it or not, a very significant portion of the population want No Deal. It would have to be on the ballot.
The only way I could see an extension being of interest would be on the basis that we have decided to go with no deal and we agree to pay a chunk of the £39bn as goodwill in order to start some talks over flights, ports, tarifs, citizens rights and allow a 6 month extension for businesses on both sides to prepare better for a no deal.
Basically accepting talks are going nowhere and its 100% certain to be a no deal- any future trade talks could take decades so allowing businesses to have 6 months to fully prepare for that... on that basis to better prepare ports and thing like flights there might be just about enough goodwill on both sides to sort out some of the major things?
Yeah. We've blown the chance for a second rederendum. At the moment, the only two feasible options are No Deal or Revoke. We've almost wasted six months doing absolutely nothing.
I think we just wait till November 1st and act like nothings happened - pretend it was a prank and its just that good old English sense of humour ... if that fails nuke the french

Erm? Everyone would be asked to answer both questions. People who want to stay should still have a say about how we leave if we do. Especially as leave with a deal was what was the default position to stay during the lead up to the first referendum possibly barring a few utter loons (and I mean racist/xenophobic right-wing, neo-nazi loons).
It would decide the matter even if it is still a vote for leaving. The current deadlock is seemingly assuring the wort possible outcome with added long term societal splintering. If the vote was leave and then the second vote was for no deal then so be it. Still better than lurching out as things stand now.
