Javid said 700,000 people living in the UK could not speak English.

“As home secretary, I will apply these principles to those who arrive in our country. So not only will there be a new values test but we will also strengthen the English-language requirements for all new citizens.”

The majority of British people living in France can't speak French.

Likewise a significant chunk of Brits on the Costa ... Be interesting to see how the EU treat Brits wanting to retire or spend 6 months a year in their holiday homes

Yeah but one party is embroiled in six scandals last time I looked with one costing hundreds of millions of pounds. This false equivalency stuff is getting tiresome. Yes SF have a past and are capable of being political cnuts too but DUP are a law onto themselves.
I’m not disagreeing with you about DUP. I’ve never voted fir them and I never would. But I wouldn’t let SF off the hook either, I remember them getting caught out in Derry with dead peoples votes ffs, or the thugs going door to door trying to intimidate people to vote for them. That’s before I even touch on them having a presence at Derry riots etc back in the day.

I wouldn’t trust either party as far as I could throw them. As far as I’m concerned this island would be better off if both sides were thrown in jail and the key melted in Mordor.

Then actual non-crazy people can get on with dialogue

Yeah good luck to the nhs when all those fat lobsters are sent back home again

F*ck off, little England.

I'm hoping so... And the Eurostar
On a serious note has any European country made any announcement on UK citizens who live or work there yet?

Don't think so but if no deal goes through just assume the status changes to that of non-EU migrants.

It would have to be a collective EU statement I guess.
With those stricter immigration tests, you kinda wonder who'll want to come to this toxic island.

This is just mental.

Brexit is clearly not good news for us in ROI, but the longer this goes on the more part of me hopes the UK get exactly what they deserve here, despite how much that will hurt us too. I know there's good folk on here that will not like that train of thought, but Jesus- how are the EU expected to soften their stance when they're faced with this bullshit?

I think no deal is all but guaranteed here.

Here in Germany until now nothing even the offices for pensions etc. do not have a clue as to what will happen when this madness takes place next year which is annoying, all these politicianswant is to pose and posture instead of doing what they are supposed to be doing looking after the people.

Javid’s comment only makes any sense (being generous) if all or nearly all those 700,000 are from EU countries. I suspect that’s not true.

Besides, if you are in the UK to perform seasonal labour like fruit picking, why do you need more than a few basic words of English anyway?

A big chunk of whom are Brexiteers who are appalled by the EU plans of restricting their FOM to just the hosting country

Brexit is about controlling the UK borders and those of the EU as well

My understanding is that the vast majority of them were in favor or remaining - perhaps they should consider moving to gibralta

Out of interest what happens to Gibralta ref hard boarder and tarifs etc - thats not been mentioned at all?

Most UK immigrants I know tend to justify brexit They also seem to think that they are special (expats) and they should be treated differently because the hosting country economy would collapse without them

Gibralta

Hard brexit = hard boarder

what happens?... its not been mentioned much and certainly not as much as Ireland but surely the same problems exist - possibly even more so in some respects (namely
The EU has given Spain a formal veto over Brexit if Madrid is not happy with the Gibraltar dimensions of a Brexit deal.

You call them immigrants and they meltdown. I never understood that.

Immigrants come into a country generally for better opportunities which in turn benefit society and the economy in general
Expats basically invade a county and go and plant a flag in the sun and try to turn it into a little enclave (not only UK - we just tend to be a bit more twattish about it than the Scandinavians and Germans etc)

You call them immigrants and they meltdown. I never understood that.

Their stereotyping is prevalent. They think all French hates them, that all Germans are all supremacists who want to dominate Europe and that everyone living below france works in tourism. Immigrants are according to them bad so they refuse to ve associated with them. The funny thing is that all migrants want what the same thing ie respect, FOM and rights

I'd like the Brexit voters to experience what they actually voted for, not what they think they voted for, because they clearly don't know, unfortunately everyone will suffer.
Yes no deal is almost a certainty unless May completely caves in. Even then, I think the EU have had enough, only Ireland (not trade as Brexiters think) is stopping the EU from telling the UK to piss off.

Will the UK become the only country in the world to require someone living there to speak the language? I can sort of understand for someone to become a national they should speak the language.
EU national's are easy targets at present because the vast majority of immigrants are from outside the EU and they are supposedly in full control of them.

I suspect worse things are to come if May remains PM. She clearly doesn't like foreigners.

Missed my chance this afternoon. After meeting engineers on a project in Brum this morning we strolled over to a second meeting with time to kill and walked into the Remain crowd outside the tory conference so had a laugh with them and wandered away with Bollox to Brexit, Demand a Final Say badges on and a stick of Brexit rock complete with the words Brexit Sucks through the middle.

As the 2nd meeting was a presentation to Highways England, technically still a government office, we felt it wise to remove the badges before heading in but I regretted it on the way home when I ran into Michael Gove at Warwick services. I can confirm however that the reptilian cnut buys his coffee at Costa before heading to the bogs and then carries it to the urinal with him, dirty bastard.

To be fair if he left his coffee unnatended close to me he would certainly be a dirty bastard for drinking it...

You should have asked him what he is actually good at.

UK car sales down 20% on last year
DFS reporting profits down 50% on last year
Nissan might cut 8000 jobs if we have hard Brexit

Someone needs to stop this BS.

Country heading towards crisis as no deal becomes ever more likely and this twat saunters onto the stage at one the most important party conferences ever

Will a no deal lead to Scotland having another Scottish Independence vote in the near future? What about Ireland, will this have a serious (or any) impact on the chances of a united Ireland?
