Bundesliga 13/14

How many penalties were that in total now? 5? in 30 minutes? :D

And it could be one more. Hanover could have been given one more. Would also be another red for Schalke.

I think that situation was more than a 'could' a bit lucky from Schalke there. But the way they look atm it probably wont matter.

Robben is usually quite reliable when it comes to penalties.

Coquelin with two yellows in 76 seconds. Second one was shocking though, he clearly hit the ball first and even if he didn't that would not have been a clear card. Really seems like the ref got influenced by the atmosphere (at Hoffenheim, of all places :D).

When was the last time Bayern had a reliable penalty taker? Makaay?
Robben scored every penalty for 3 years up until the CL final, including the one in the CL semifinal against Real. The criticism towards him was way over the top and imo he should again take the penalties if he feels he is up to it.

Makes it the third league game in a row.

Schalke now down 0-2. Diouf scored. Looking really bad for the Blues.

THis is the first one I'm watching. Have to say they impressed me in pre season. This is a bit boring so far though.

Freiburg have class fan support, though.

Really fun conference for me. It is really relaxing when you win on Friday and can look at the situations from the top of the table.

Btw, Mandzukic is a first class cnut!

Wow Mandzukic, that was disgraceful even by Suarez' standarts..

Do you think he did it on purpose? I just assumed it was where his foot fell.

He had time to pull back his foot a little there. Mandzukic is widely known for those dirty scenes, especially when it comes to the use with the ellbow.

Can't think of a single scene in which he deliberately tried to injure someone? Yeah, he uses his elbows more than he should in aerial duels, but that's something completely different, imo. He's not "widely known for those dirty scenes".

Well we can't read his mind, so we can only assume. But I think we all can agree that Mandzukic features in this kind of situation quite often.

What a blunder by Leno. Gladbach equalizes with two very fast goals after half time.

We look much more dangerous when we don't try to tikataka our way through the incredibly crouded centre of the pitch.

And I'm not convinced by Thiago yet. He has a few brilliant moments each game, but he really isn't great at doing the easy things consistently very well, which is imo more important as a central midfielder.

Couldnt agree more. You look almost everytime dangerous when you try that high ball into the patch of your wingers or strikers or when you come from the wings. Looks like Pep prefers a different type of game though.

Edit: Mandzukic should have scored at least once by now.

Gustavo sent off. What the feck is happening today? How many penalties and red cards have we seen today?

is it just me or were the Bayern fans really happy with that substitution??
Nothing to do with Thiago, imo. Thomas Müller is a massive fan favorite and the crowd will cheer him a lot when he's subbed on.

Shit sportsmanship from Bayern there, returning possession by kicking the ball off for a Nurnberg throw-in near their own corner rather than just giving it to the keeper.

Deserved. Good goal that. Why would Pep try and change this type of football? Much better in the second half from Bayern.

And the next one to go showering. Huszti from Hanover is sent off for dangerous play (harsh, very harsh).

10 vs. 10 now for Schalke.

Because when his football finally works, it will be even better (at least I hope that's the case ;) ). As long as 60minutes trying his stuff and 30minutes playing the old way is enough to win games, I'm fine with it. I doubt it will work all season, at one point "his 60minutes" need to work as well.
