Bundesliga 13/14

I'd love it if 4th wasn't decided until the last matchday, however Gladbach's last few matches are considerably harder. They have to play Freiburg away, Schalke away and then Mainz at home before travelling to Wolfsburg. Maybe they can pull it off, but it's more likely for Wolfsburg to get the last CL spot. In a way it's good as I expect them to invest a lot in the summer so they might make an impact of sorts. Although I think they would do much better in the EL.

Stuttgart couldn't hold on to their lead and Arango equalises just before FT.

They can have an impact in the CL after playing a great league season, they'll invest in the summer anyway, so one year EL won't really change their future. I actually could see them adding a few more players for squad depth and actually doing well in the EL, which would help the league a lot more, imo.

At the moment, Keller does a great job at Schalke, imo. Can't really say, he fecked up the season at any point. Though, I still expect Tuchel to take that job in 2015. If they keep most of their brilliant youth players until then, they could become an amazing team.

Disagree there, Balu. I´m sorry but both games vs. Madrid and Bayern respectively and also the first game against Dortmund were admissions of tactical failure. There is absolutely no shame in losing against these sides, but how they lost was in considerable parts humilating.

I´m not saying that Keller is a poor coach, he is just not a top class one, someone Schalke needs to play on the level they aspiring to play.

I meant he didn't feck up their season, not he never fecked up a single time during their season . Of course, Schalke had quite a few poor games in which Keller made mistakes. But overall, I'd say he did a good job, didn't expect them to push Dortmund for the 2nd place in the league and since most of their injured players returned, they played surprisingly consistent. He managed their youth players well and several of their talents made a big step towards becoming regular starters. Like I said, one more year Keller and then Tuchel and they should be in a brilliant position, imo.

Dortmund:

Weidenfeller - Piszczek, Sokratis, Hummels, Durm - Sahin, Kirch - Reus, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang - Lewandowski

EDIT: Best possible squad.

Where did you get that line-up from? Lewandowski is on the bench. Rested before the cup game? Or do you think it's because of his move to Bayern next season?

Ok. bundesliga.de fecked up then :nervous:.

If he does not start, then because he is rested IMO.

Really? Because there were quite a few Bundesliga teams this season, which managed exactly that (holding their own defensively). Freiburg, Berlin, Gladbach, Mainz and Nürnberg are the first that come to mind.
I disagree. Its not only about sitting back, when you dont have the ball. Its also about being cautious, when you have the ball. United was sitting very deep and used long balls on a target-man. I dont think any of those teams play like that. Hertha HSC Berlin is the only team thats not trying to be the dominant part in most matches (of those 5 clubs). Freiburg and Nürnberg are awful at defending. Mainz and Gladbach have both exceptional managers, but their strength is not to sit back and absorb pressure.
There are very few sides in the Bundesliga (e.g. like West Ham or Chelsea in the CL) who are mainly focus on destroying the game. That surely helps to produce entertaining matches, but sometimes clubs would benefit from playing this way. Long balls and set-pieces are falling out of favor.

Fine finish by Mkhitaryan.

I've been really impressed by Dortmund's left back.

Stupid Mhiki, can't put the ball in the empty goal against Real, but scores with Dortmund's first shot against us

Noticed this in the game against us as well: have Bayern gone retro with their formation? 2-3-5? At least in possession, they're effectively playing 2 at the back.

Is this a new thing?

Thats Erik Durm. Was a striker nine months ago until Klopp began his transformation. According to some people on here will never be defensively good enough to become a top class full back :D

Well I've only seen him twice and so far he has kept Bale and Robben pretty quiet.

Astonishing that he was a striker nine months ago, Klopp really is a genius.

Bayern players challenging every single referee decision, or lack of such. They're getting worse than Barca in that aspect.

Well he does has his occasional positioning errors, which are completely normal at this stage of his development. One of the most promising youngsters in our squad, probably the best to have moved up from the 2nd team last summer.

Bayern are man marking the referee. He needs to start booking them, it's already ridiculous.

My god, Bayern. This is getting pathetic. First Robben with a first class dive, then Götze shoots Hummels in the face (whole team declares handball), now this perfectly fine chest clearance by Sahin and they complain again....

Bayern will get spanked if they play like that against Real. They're playing without fullbacks and the last man is on the central line. Welbeck and Rooney caught them on the counter a few times, imagine what Ronaldo and Bale would do.

Klopp is a top manager that wears a full tracksuit and a yellow BvB cap. Couldn't love him more.

Horrendous performance and a very strange and ineffective tactical setup by Pep.

Götze has now been struggling for 2 months. He's absolutely ineffective at the moment. Total non factor.

Ribery has always been the worst with that. Will never forget how twattish his actions were in getting Rafael sent off in 2010. Disliked him ever since really.

He can't be serious with that 235 bullshit, right? It's a disaster, it was funny for a while against United without any DM available, but that tactical setup isolates Robben and Ribery out wide, why would anyone want to do that? You don't want your best attacking players far away from goal on their own, it's just plain stupid.

Just commented on that few mins ago in the Bayern thread. There is no single good reason to this, it's just stupid.

Yeah, can't say anything positive about it so far. I hope he's taking the piss at the moment with those experiments, but it feels like it will come back and bite us in the ass :nervous:

Ffs, if Neuer is injured, we're fecked, fecked fecked fecked.

Is Starke also injured??

Imagine Raeder against Madrid? :nervous: feck! Hope it's not serious.

Oh not off to a good start..
