Bundesliga 2015/2016

Congrats! From a more neutral perspective, the noteworthiest was the yellow card festival. This means that Zambrano will be out for the match against us next Sunday, decreasing Reus' chance of picking up another injury by ca. 80%. :D

Does Reus really need an opponent to get injured?

I thought it was an underage prostitute? I could be completely mistaken though as that's what I saw the headline being but I didn't look further into it.
He was guest to a party where someone else had hired prostitutes (but underpaid them so they refused to perform and only drank the champagne :D).
As one of the girls apparently was underage, investigations were started. Rib was interviewed as a witness, not as a suspect. Whole news was a total non-starter. In Germany, only "Bild" featured it.

He is supposed to have given money to a friend, who used it to organize a party where women of low morale fibre were present (but underpaid them so they refused to perform and only drank the champagne :D).

So it's confirmed that there won't be a 4th Bundesliga game on Sunday after weeks with EL games, even though we have 4 clubs playing on Thursdays in the Europe League. The tv contracts demand a Friday night game, 5 Saturday afternoon games and at most 3 Sunday games. It's not a problem after the first leg (Leverkusen and Dortmund play each other), but on the matchday after the 2nd leg of the round of last 32 all 4 EL teams play in different games.

So one of them has to play Thursday night in the EL and then Saturday evening in the Bundesliga with less than 48 hours rest between the end of the EL game and the kickoff of the next one. A worst case would be if the EL game goes to extratime and penalties. It's madness. And if you think how close Gladbach came to qualifying for the EL as well, it would be 5 clubs in the EL and the problems would be even bigger.

The DFL really has to sort this out and need to include clauses for more Sunday and maybe even Monday games in the broadcasting deals. The way it is now it increases the risk of injuries to an insane level and being tired can have such a big impact on the league games. The Thursday - Sunday schedule with 2 days inbetween is really the minimum that should be allowed.

Well it's something like 40 hours actually.

oops. Yeah, that's what I meant . No idea why I wrote 24 hours. The point still stands though. Like I wrote at the end, less than 2 days rest between games is a huge risk and influences the following league games way too much.

Mainz v Stuttgart... Two teams better at midfield pressing than at passing the ball tonight. Well deserved 0-0 for both sides. Oh well, I'm happy taking 24 points (plus whatever we get from Hertha away) into the winter break.

Think you'll keep hold of Bell and Karius?

In the winter transfer window? Yes, definitely.

In the summer and beyond... who knows? I think that while Bell is good, he's not that good, so I'm not sure a bigger/richer club will be interested and pay our asking price. Karius, on the other hand, is a fantastic goalkeeper and will almost definitely make the step up in the near future. However, from what he has said, he's pretty happy in Mainz and might stay for a bit longer. A transfer is more likely to happen in 2017 than 2016 imo.

I have to say, I'm not too worried losing either of them, the replacements are there if they chose to leave. We have a young CB in Alexander Hack, who has done really well for our U23s in the third division and the last two games with the first team where he replaced the injured Bungert. On the ball he is on a different level to all our other CBs, really excited about him.

The goalkeeper situation is a bit different, not sure if any of our backups are immediately ready for the step up, but we have a really talented generation of keepers coming up through our youth teams and U23s. For that reason, I'd like to have Karius for a bit longer, so that his replacement is ready when the time comes, whoever of them it turns out to be.

woa. I just found out, that Ribery is injured again? are you fecking kidding me? Benatia also out with muscle problems AGAIN. Our doctors are doing a shit job.
In the words of Pep: Why is it that some players are always injured and some never. He does have his medical team on the premises for quite a while already, though.

Having muscular issues after such a long injury time is common. Possibly they (or Rib himself) rushed it a bit. he might have benefitted from a elongated rehab period, but its no use forcing it on him if he doesn't want.

Bayerns current hospital wing team: Alaba, Benatia, Costa, Thiago, Robben, Ribery, Götze. Throw in a few decent players and you have a contender for the CL.

Are those players really rushed back? If that is the case, we´d sack our doctors and Pep. No point to risk the health of the players, when we are in such a comfortable position. Aren´t muscle injuries a lot about managing workload? Additionally we should really factor in injury-proneness when it comes to transfers. It is so frustrating, that we are again short of wingers.

I recall a presser from Pep at Bayern in which he said that if the docs tell him a player will be back in 4 weeks, he wants the player to strive for coming back in 3 weeks, and the docs tell him a player will be back in 4 days, he wants the player to strive for coming back in 3 days. Don't nail me on the exact numbers Pep used but you get the idea.

Did he really? That'd be insane...

He did. I missed it when he first said so but this sequence was put into the coverage of "Pep and his relationship with medics" when tensions with Müller-Wohlfahrt were at their climax, with all those issues like Thiago seeing docs in Spain but not recovering or immediately being injured again etc.

I did expect an awful game like that. Ingolstadt's defense really is fantastic so far this season. In 13 out of 15 games they conceded 1 goal or less. It's just the two 4-0 losses against Dortmund and Hannover in which they fecked up.

I hope we can score early in the 2nd half and turn this into a better game.

Ingolstadt are battling us down. Tougher game than any of our CL games so far. Not too happy with Martinez in midfield. This game is cying out for Rode tbh.

Thiago could help a lot too, of course, but for some reason I fear for his health.

Hats off to Hertha for this season so far. Not that I wouldn't have expected they win against Darmstadt (3-0 after roughly 50 minutes) but they've been doing so much better this season than I was expecting. Who knows, if they continue their consistent performances, they may well play Europa League next season.

Ffs, that was a great counter. Could have been 0-1 :nervous:

You'll win this anyway, and if it is by a Müller goal in the 89th minute. :)

Ingolstadt playing like prime Atletico. Fouling and playacting included. Pep resorts to giving Lahm a written note with instructions

Kimmich is fantastic.

Surely Hertha will collapse in the 2nd half of the season? They have an average side, but they play brilliant football so far.

IMO Kimmich's best game for us so far. Really good performance, taking responsibility, in a tough, thankless and difficult game. Not at all to be taken for granted from a 20 year old.

Damn son, Leverkusen destroying M'gladbach. 3 from Super Chicharo and 2 from Kiessling. Leverkusen > M'gladbach > Bayern confirmed.

This is totally insane . Why couldn't Leverkusen finish their hundreds of fecking chances against Barca midweek.

Cause that´s what they do. As a Gladbach fan I knew this would happen today. :o

All these other clowns at Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Schalke should ask themselves how a team that finished 15th last year and spent next to nothing leapfrogged them all at the moment. At last Gladbach has the excuse of playing only 11 games so far and having build their own house without Bayer, VW or Gazprom.

Highly doubt he was pressed, if anything, it was Ribery doing the pressing. He wants to be on the pitch.

He did, but the meaning was: Of course he wishes to have his squad players available for play. No manager out there who doesn't.

Really happy for Augsburg. They were amazing in the EL and it's great to see that they got themselves out of the relegation zone for now in the league as well. The battle for 3rd and 4th place should be brilliant towards the end of the season, all of Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Schalke are so crazy inconsistent.

Schalke

I don't like seeing Augsburg with 16 points, it looks like they've got some momentum now and they'll probably be extremely confident when they face us next weekend.

They'll kick your ass .
