Why can't Owen take it, didnt in the shootout either. Would be good for him to get off the mark, of course he could miss and it would be damaging to his confidence but you can't play like that if you're a striker. You'd think he'd be begging to take it.
Too many unforced errors. He's lost the ball something like 50% of the time. Working hard, though.
Only player who has had a good game is Giggs. Rooney and Evans have also been ok, with anderson improving as the game went on. Evra has been good apart from the goal, which he should share the blame with anderson for.

Hope Hargo returns to match fitness ASAP. To be fair to Carrick he's been a top penalty taker so far. He took it rather lightly.
We need more width. The first time someone broke into the box from a diagonal pass we won a peno - and that was the left back Evra. Park is badly out of form it is not even funny. Anderson looked better in the end of the first half but is pretty bad as well.
We can do it in the second half but need more composure and more confidence up front. The goal literally startled us.

Observation, our midfield players are passing the ball to the defenders for them to distribute to the attackers. Something is not right about that. Anderson has had about 4 forward passes and the rest were to defenders.
Anyway, we have scored 5 in a half a lot of times, not panic time yet, but definitely start panicking when it gets to 85th min.

Burnley are doing a very good job of hustling every time we try to slow the pace down, Pattison (?) has really ran his socks off charging down our centre backs. Park has been very poor, no first touch, poor crossing and all round not much going right for him. Carrick hasn't looked comfortable, wants more time than he's ever going to get in a game like this. Giggs has been sexual, but he can't do it all by himself.
Rooney has dropped progressively deeper as the half has gone on and Evra has got progressively further up the field and looked very much our best option out wide. Anderson hasn't seen a lot of the ball and drifts inside, it is his position after all, and Owen can't seem to connect with anything in the area, although his play outside of the box has been pretty good.
All in all a pretty shite half for us and made worse by the penalty save, wasn't a bad pen just not enough power behind it.

Can't believe after how shite we were, we had an easy chance to go in level. Right on half time, that would have hurt them. Now it's just given them a new lease of life.
Why is Neville sub and not Fabio? If we need width and pace later on, don't see the point of having Neville. Hopefully De Laet will get a chance because he is better than O'Shea and Neville going forward.
