Carrick is usually a good penalty taker, he always scores in shoot-outs. Obviously that one wasn't good enough but then again, not much in this game has been good enough. Also that goalkeeper has a reputation for being good with penalties. I'm not sure Rooney and Owen, who both are quite mediocre penalty takers, would have done much better.

that was pretty poor tbh. giggs and evra were alright, rooney just about. the rest were shoddy at best. park was abysmal and i'm generally not one for slagging our players off. poorest game he's had for us though.
as for the penalty, it wasnt that bad a hit and, being honest, i'd have had carrick taking it out of the players we have out there. i dont think he should get flak for the miss, tho maybe he should for the general level of performance.

Least Owen is getting into a position to score. He looks rusty, but I guess thats what happens when you have had issues with injuries for the last few years. He needs time and patience.

Thats all we hear about Owen, how he will score us goals but ffs he has to start putting some of the chances away! Hes had some real good chances but not put any of them away in our opening 1.5 games

Not watched much of the game (as streaming is shit) but from the team line up I would guess most of our attacks end with Park, Anderson is being played out on the left and being totally wasted. Rooney is dropping deep to try to make someting happen in midfield but unfortunelty that means he has nobody with ability infront of him. Don't worry in SAF we trust we dont need to buy anybody our squad is fine and we won't miss Ronaldo or Tevez. Oh shit! We are loosing to a team that got an average attendance last seaon of less than 10,000.

Carrick has always been a good penalty taker for us, but it just didn't come off tonight. Personally I would have chosen Anderson to take it, he's good at penalties too. I ain't panicking yet, 45 minutes to go and I'm confident we can get level. If we do equalise, then I'd fancy us winning but we need to get back in level terms. I'd like to see Valencia come on and give us some width and hopefully he'll get his turbo speed on and get down that wing and bang some crosses in. Hopefully we'll see Berbatov in the 2nd half too.
