Carlo deserves his own thread. This one is about him and Bayern, not just Pep.

So it seems if Pep announces he is finishing the year and taking one out, then that leaves us in a good position to get him, if he is staying in management and taking a job straight away you would suspect he is going to City.

Ancelotti would be a good fit at Bayern, they'd probably be good for another CL trophy with him in charge.

I get the feeling that this next series of managerial changes is either going to be brilliant for us or disastrous.

Mourinho will be on the market. Blanc also. Allegri could be tempted

United are bad, so bad dealing in transfers my god

If we don't get Guardiola, we're incompetent and the board should get the sack, along with Van Gaal.

Fail to get Pep or Carlo and you can kiss goodbye to any success for the foreseeable

A bit worrying this, it wouldn't leave us with options of Pep ends up at City, which seems likely at this point.

Things just going from bad to worse, we really going to be stuck with LVG next season...

1. Why is Ogden writing for the Independent? Is this where he takes his venting pieces after having spent too many hours on RedCafé again?

2. Why would Ogden know anything about the thoughts and actions of the Bayern board?

Man City - Pep
Liverpool - Klopp
Arsenal - Wenger
Chelsea - Not Mourinho
Tottenham - Pochettino
Man Utd - Giggs

That hurts.

and then what ?

We'll start again with better personnel. I've said all along that if we don't act decisively, sack Van Gaal and do everything to get Pep that we won't win anything for years when he inevitably goes to City. we've spent 250 million under Van Gaal and we're still crap. That is A the fault of Van Gaal for his poor spending and B the fault of our board for entrusting the job and the money to Van Gaal.

It happens in football, but the biggest club in the world missing out on the best manager and watching him go the other club in Manchester will be like a death knell to me.

That's the plan B taken then. Bayern are fecking ruthless. Hallmark of a top club.

Bayern really do set the standard don't they? Ruthlessly efficient

I wonder if our board fully grasps the gravity of the situation?
However, this is the same board that green lighted Moyes so anything is possible :(

Guardiola hates committing to things ahead of time. Their activity helps them play it safe, but they might have been able to keep him if they gave him more time.
I respect that approach from them. Prioritising the clubs future safety above all else and if Pep has doubts then onto the next one.

That's one hell of a hangover, basically tearing the club hierarchy to pieces. It would take a very long period to restore ourselves and could risk long term decline. LVG can go at the very least.

You say start again like it's a game of fifa that's going wrong.

We'll see how proactive Ed Woodward is in an endeavour to secure arguably the best manager in the world. Would be far from stunned if he lets Guardiola go to Manchester City. Assuming Guardiola does end up leaving Bayern.

I am sorry, the board doesn't deserve any blame for that. LVG was the best we could have got in 2014 and most in here was happy with the appointment.

The board can only do so much about getting a manager. You cannot expect them to make guardiola sign the contract at gunpoint. do you?

Unless Pep is heading in this direction (which doesn't seem to be the consensus) this is not great news at all. Leaves us with LvG, Giggs or perhaps Mourinho (if he gets the boot) because I doubt our board would be proactive enough to look at other managers a little more left field (Poch, Bielsa or Koeman types).

Feels like there's some huge moments coming up doesn't it.

Ancelotti and Pep aren't the only two decent managers in the world but it'll be a massive blow to see everyone else grab our targets and be left with the bargain basement appointments like Moyes again.

I fear for this club. The worst case scenario always seems to happen. The people running this club are a mess.

Giggs getting the job is looking more likely by the day, it's a bit like Moyes. So many hints.

Has this been confirmed then? Can't find anything anywhere...

No. Pep's decision will be made (public) after the game against Hannover 96, most likely next week, definitely before January. Until then the media will go crazy.

I'm not sure Ancelotti would win trophies with us. He's a good cup manager and he gets the best out of players but he doesn't build teams and he seldom performs well in the league. Pep, on the other hand, would be perfect choice for us but it's so predictable that we'd rather go United way and assure van Gaal of job security because of process and philosophy which has to take ages and obviously has to conclude with 3 wins in 14 games after he's already been here for 1.5 years, than offer the job to the best manager in the world who happens to be available.
