if he wasnt fully fit, he wouldnt have played at all.MUFCTheReligion said:Remember he has been injured. I don't think he's fully fit yet.
There are signs that he can be top class though.

He was good defensively, could have done more tackling though. Had a perfect mix for the first 30 minutes but became to catious later on.kafta said:Showed some glimpses of his creativity. Defensively he was better than i expected, good tracking back and tackling. Needs some time to settle but i agree with MUFC. Looking forward for his CL debut.
disagree.djemba's arse said:Looks good, but he doesn't want the ball enough for me. Hopefully that will come.

PogueMahone said:Was very good yesterday. Much better defensively than I hoped. He got tired as the game went on but that was only the second time he's played more than 45 minutes of football since the end of last season. I would have forgiven a far worse performance, bearing in mind he's had no pre-season. When he gets match fit he will be different class. I think he's exactly the type of player we needed.

MUFCTheReligion said:As for supporting the attack I reckon he has been told to stay back because of a contrast of play with Scholes. Obviously ineffective with his absence.
Instant Karma said:So, SAF plays Carrick and Oshea in the middle and asks both of them to hold back and not support the attack ?
Carrick is a decent player but simply not good enough as an attacking midfielder. So stop inventing/ dreaming up fecking excuses.
I for one am happy that we didnt get Hargreaves. Yesterday's game illustrated quite clearly two issues -
1. Having two deep lying players in the middle only invites more pressure onto us.
2. With the lack of a ball winner, we struggle to get back possession even against a Spurs team who are in poor form.
Hope Carrick improves his defensive game and tackling because adding another player in the middle who can do that would leave the strikers short of support.

MUFCTheReligion said:What are you on about. Carrick is a defensive player, thats what we bought. O'Shea was a temporary solution, with Scholes in the team we needed a DM. Unless of course you want to take Scholes out.
Stupid cnut.
MUFCTheReligion said:He has just returned from injury and hardly had a pre-season. Of course he won't be fully fit.
