Celtic Appoint Ronny Deila As New Manager

So as long as UEFA have something firmly in their rules it is fair? If they come up with a rule that you need to have an even number of fire extinguishers which has to be higher than 50 and lower than 165 at your stadium for a football game and a club has 55 of them it is completely fair to murder all members of the club because it is in the rules and they can never ever be discussed with?
Dont be melodramatic. If they did have a rule where you had to have an even number of fire extinguishers in your stadium and you didnt adhere to it but wanted to take part in their competitions then I'd say you can have no complaints when you're ejected from their competitions. It's their rule.

They're shit rules then.
Yes but they are UEFAs rules and if you want to take part in their competitions you obey them. If not then enjoy your local league.

Well, we look at it differently then. For me rules should be there to help clubs and prevent them from being screwed by cheating, misconduct etc., not serve a completely different purpose of basically trying to screw them if they miss one single thing.

Would you feel the same if this was liverpool instead of legia or would you just laugh?

I'd probably laugh, yes, but I'd still say the punishment was unfair.

I'm not a Legia fan, I support Wisła Kraków. It's basically a United/Liverpool rivalry in Poland.

OK but I'll have to disagree and I don't see an issue with this rule once it's continued to be implemented. Ignorance is not an excuse for me.

The same UEFA that booted AC Milan out of the CL 2007 for match fixing (not a fecking paperwork error... but actual attempted match fixing), then completely reversed their decision on appeal?

They're reliable. Obviously Legia's chances of winning either appeal are basically inexistent.

Keep fighting the good fight Sarni. Obviously Celtic have long since abandoned any ideals of "sporting integrity" and all that holier-than-thou crap, and realistically they are going to grab the opportunity as any other business would. However, the punishment is obviously hugely disproportionate to the mistake. How these rules are applied does need to be reviewed and brought into proportion. Fundamentally, back-office administration should only be there to support rather than encumber clubs and should never have such an elevated status in determining what happens on the park.

Any team would do the same as Celtic did simply because we're talking about insane amounts of money. Don't be so naive and think that most or even 30% of the clubs out there wouldn't have done the same.

That said it doesn't make it right in my eyes, but that is why you have uefa, fifa and the national federations (?), to sort out issues according to the rules that are, and change them for future incidents if needed for a better result.

How is the punishment (3-0 forfeit) disproportionate to including a suspended player in the match-day squad? It's a standard punishment.

Decision's been upheld.

Meanwhile, 3 Crimean clubs have played in Russian cup and UEFA won't do shit about it.

Regardless how many times you repeat that it still doesn't make it appropriate when you consider the whole circumstances. They did not field him deliberately knowing he were suspended, they made a paperwork error in the previous round and the extent of punishment isn't right for that sort of error. But it's pointless to discuss it any more, appeal has failed, rules are rules and they won't change them for Legia. Tough shit, all they can hope for is that they beat Aktobe in Europa League and never play Celtic again.

Doesn't matter if they fielded him deliberately. He was suspended. He played. They forfeited as a result.

Their owner saying they'll take it to CAS now and hope to get a ruling before the play-off rounds start next week. I didn't think it was possible to get a ruling that quickly but I imagine CAS will tell them where to go just like UEFA did. If they had any case then UEFA would've reinstated them IMO.

CAS will tell them to go feck themselves.

Can CAS even reinstate them anyway or is purely about compensation for Legia now?

I don't have a lot of time for Celtic FC (less for Rangers, got the picture?). That said, Legia don't have a leg to stand in with this one. They screwed up and broke the rules, end of!!!

Yes, if CAS accepts their appeal they will have to be reinstated. There is absolutely no chance of that happening though,

What fight @Gio? They were eliminated from the competition for putting a suspended player in their squad. The rules state that if they do this they forfeit the game and lose it 3-0. There is no fight here just a big bloody oversight on their side that's ended up costing them millions. Nothing to do with Celtic who were awful but progress on the away goals rule.

Why do you need to register a player for a game he is suspended from? That's the strange thing, he did miss 3 games did he not?

I can't see it either. If there were any way that they could be punished in a different manner then UEFA would've surely done so.

Is Poland behind Legia on this matter or are the other teams happy they went out?

Pretty much everyone is behind them, even opposition fans and Legia are by far and away the most despised team in the country.

I think there is a decent chance they will make CL at some point in the next 5-6 years.

Everything is in place for them. Got a good crowd and a good team. As long as they're in the champions route in the qualifiers they'll be dangerous.

They are bound to lose some of their best players after this fiasco. I think Jodłowiec, Żyro and Duda will be gone before the next CL qualifiers come and I won't be surprised to see them see more to balance the books if they don't make it past Aktobe (who looked good against Steaua and are very hard to play against at their own turf in Kazakhstan).

You need to register a certain amount of players (25) I think for european competition. You can use youth team graduates and some other young players but you have to stick with the squad of 25. They are the rules to restrict the squads. You must register him if you want to use him in later rounds if you dont register him then you cant use him.

No, it's not Liverpool/United rivalry. It's more like Arsenal/United, thought Legia was less competitve than Arsenal in days of their rivalry and Wisła is now more shit than Moyes' United maintaining the appropriate proportions.

I thought Radovic was excellent. Is he one of their best players or did he just have a few good games v our shit defence?

He's been one of their best players for like a decade. He will be 31 in January so probably a year or two left for him.

That's probably more accurate yes. I don't see what rivalry in Poland would equal Liverpool/United.

Simply about bringing the punishments into proportion with the error. If they don't kick up a stooshie this time, it'll never be changed (until a big club gets caught out).
