Champions League Final 2016 - 28/05

Tragic for Athletico Madrid and you have to feel for their fans - they seem to be the only proper fans in Spain.

You cannot start Torres and expect to win the European Cup though. The man's useless and, despite Ronaldo's best efforts, was the worst player on the pitch.

Becks on Instagram under a picture of himself and Zidane :

"Congratulations my friend, couldn't have happened to a nicer and more passionate guy, Hala Madrid"

He probably didn't mean it as a slight dig at Simeone, but coincidentally it could look like this a bit.

Congrats @Vato @Raul Madrid and @carvajal and other Madrid fans.

I would have preferred Atletico but I am happy for Zidane.

I am also wondering if Simeone underestimated Zidane a bit.

Congratulations to the Real Madrid fans on this forum.

Thanks guys :).

It has been a funny season. I must say, I did not expect Zidane to be successful when he was appointed. I am absolutely delighted for him.

Real Madrid have had such an easy path to win this.

On top of all that they faced an Atletico team in the final who barely even showed up.

They are really not that good of a team.

Calma in your face Pique.
I wouldn't take everything Gerard Pique says about Real Madrid seriously. I think he likes playing the role of the villain when it comes to Real Madrid. Plus, I can't even remember what Pique said about Madrid that bring about your karma sentiment.

Ramos and Savic were exceptional, Simeone making Savic look world class.

Ramos is one of the best defenders in the world, he's criminally underrated due to his idiotic moments of madness but he's a top top player. Feel for Atletico.

Ronaldo said he was going to win the CL and honestly take that over a league double:

He did. What a man. No updates on twitter from pique...

Watching it back Ronaldo's winning penalty wasn't even remotely in the corner or low. I can't believe Oblak went right for it.

Got to feel for Atletico. Knocked out two heavy favorites Barcelona and Bayern yet lost in the final. 2nd time in 3 years to their most hated rivals. Schwarzenbeck in 1974, Ramos in 2014 and penalty shootout in 2016 - cruel way to lose the final all three times.

Interesting that Real Madrid players shot on Oblak's left for all the kicks while Atletico players shot on Navas' right for all the kicks. Oblak shifted his weight to the right for Vasquez and Bale penalties and was left stranded when the penalties came on his left.

Congrats to Real Madrid, 5th trophy already since they changed it to Champions League. Hope Atletico win one soon as long as it's not at our expense. Can't remember if anyone's lost the final 3 times without winning even once.

Griezmann had a terrible game in general, completely lost it after his missed penalty. If I remember correctly, in the last minute of ET he could've slipped a pass to Torres who would've been through on goal but chose to dribble a bit longer and pass it wide.

 I bet you typed that grinding your teeth.

Thanks anyway. ;)

Ha. Nah I've no real issue with the Madrid fans on here despite my hatred of Real Madrid as a club.

As I said after the Europa League final, double celebration this week for that prick Sergio.

I'm the same there. The Real Madrid fans on here i like, it's the club i can't stand.

Shite final if i'm being honest. 11 European title and no one really gave a shite.

Very disappointing from Atletico, they didn't show up at all. They usually embrace the pressure and manage to pass out of defense to start an attack but they probably managed that only a hand full of times in the entire 120mins. Congrats to Zidane, though.

In 20 years' time, the linesman will be able to tell his grandchildren how Real Madrid's 11th Champions League was decided by his competence.

Madrid better in 1st, Atletico better in 2nd half. Overall a poor final. Atletico's defense wasn't convincing and it was a tough goal to concede from that cu.. erm.. Ramos.
They tried in the 2nd, scored a goal but I feel they didn't show up 100 percent, it wasn't an Atletico from previous rounds.
I feel Madrid was nothing special and was there for the taking.
Overall they were a bit meh, as their whole campaign but fair play to them, they went all the way.
It's just, one of the first finals in lots of years of which I really don't have some opinion. Will forget it in 2 days.

Also, Pepe's antics were horrible and utterly embarrassing. Madrid fans shouldn't mention Barcelona's players diving and antics after that ever. That was Busquets performance x5. Ho.rri..ble.

Can the referees dish out yellows for simulation outside of penalty area or with no appeal for penalties?

Wondering why Clattenburg couldn't just send Pepe off. At least a warning yellow early would have stopped him from acting like an idiot all match.

Heard somewhere that Real fans were booing Ronaldo during a bus parade or something like that, any truth in it?

Juanfran went to the Atletico fans after missing the pen and asked for forgiveness :(
They applauded and he thanked them for it in club 's instagram account.

Hope he gets over it soon.

Unfortunately it seems like something you'd think about for the rest of your life.
