Champions League Round of 16 (12th Feb - 13th Mar)

How's Blind doing at Centre back? Always liked the guy, a good pro.

The guy wrestling Curtois was clearly offside.

He wasn’t wrestling Courtois, he was in front of him. From the moment of the second header he did not interfere with the play at all. He didn’t stop Courtois moving backwards and he didn’t move towards the ball.

He interfered with Courtois before the header, not after.

It’s an awful decision.

Ajax have been seriously impressive so far. Deserve a lead here

Carvajal has been consistently beaten and consistently fouling in that same position and this is the first one called.

Real Madrid getting a dodgy call in CL, of course of course

He was in contact with Coutois, therefore he was active. Pretty simple really...

Ajax have no business competing with Real. Calls going against them are going to be killer.

It's a hot take on how PSG going down to 10 men at 0-0 wouldn't have changed anything!! Of course decisions made can really skew any game.

Well we've been excellent..

.. at kicking Dortmund players. Otherwise really poor, tbh. Nothing going in an attacking sense and I don't see the point in 3 centre backs with the way Dortmund are playing, Vertonghen is lost out on the left as well. Poch needs to switch the system up at HT.

We've pressed well I guess. That's about it. Dortmund are dull, I thought they were meant to be this balls to the wall exciting side? More of a German Chelsea (under di Matteo) than anything else.

Have an awful feeling that for all the good play, Madrid will nick the win.
Ref can feck off

Tadic looks to be playing pretty well. Always thought he was talented at Southampton, looks like like Depay the forward role might suit him more?

Real Madrid won't play that bad in the second half. Feel like Ajax have put alot of effort into that first half without reward so it might come back to bite them

Why does he have such an aversion to playing Rose? He was one of your best players as the wing back against Chelsea in the league cup.

No... he was with his back turned to Courtois the moment the ball was headed. He did not stop Courtois from going backwards to save it. He didn’t interfere with the play

The moment when he stopped Courtois from getting there was before the ball was headed, not after.

Because of his position, he limited Curtois possibilities to move, to stop the goal etc and that’s why it is offside.

Does Marcelo not start for Real anymore? Imo he's a huge part of what makes them a strong team, soaks up pressure and attacks really well, so weird to see him on the bench.

He’s stood directly in front of him (in his eyeline), he’s active under the current offside rules.

But if he was on contact with Courtois before Tagliafico gains the header, and he wasn't offside there... is that an offside interference?

How many ties over these winning years have they won because of refs? The Bayern games in particular are usually scandalous.

That Bayern thing is the most disgustign spin ever. They had a penalty that wasn't a hand ball in the first game.
They scored offside goal in the second and Vidal wasn't red carded after destroying Kroos's face but bitter losers love to forget about that.

Same thing tonight, the guy is standing in ofside making it impossible for Courtois to save the ball (yes, I know he would not save it but you also know that rules don't work like that) and for you the ref is doing a bad yob because he saw that detail and canceled the goal. Ridiculous...

I am ecstatic how Ajax played in the first half but, I just doubt they have the energy to keep this level of play up. And I can definitely see Real getting a goal or two against the run of play.

They get almost every important decision year after year and often win the whole thing while not really being the best team. Yet no one seems to mind.

With genuinely great Barca team it was the opposite. Every decision they got in their favour was scrutinized and blown out of proportions. For some strange reason, even the ties where they got knocked out of competition due to wrong decisions are etched in collective memory as the proof how the refs supposedly helped them.

A puzzling phenomenon.

I don’t really understand what you’re getting at. When Taglafico heads the ball the Ajax player is offside.
