Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

For all the hype about Kante last season it's still Hazard that carries them and is their best player by far. They'll be a different team when he's back.

Agreed. Hazard is the focal point of their attack. They only look like half a team without him.

Then I don't understand this transfer if it isn't for financial reasons.
We have a massive squad, need to let few players go before we can even think of bringing anyone in.

Though there are others I'd sell before ox like Walcott, Campbell etc.

After reading the posts I though Sanchez is going to Chelsea and I was really scared. Then I browsed back to find it is the Ox :lol:

Ox is hardly a solution to Chelsea's problems.
Maybe they should just try to offer Costa hell lot of money and soothe his ego and get him to help them till January.

I think we will score goals so I don't see that being the problem, its midfielders and wing backs we lack.

Why would Costa be a solution to our problems? We already have two strikers, and Morata was excellent in his first game. Ox provides cover in the places we need it.

Dropping and attacking one of the worlds best strikers is absolutely bonkers. Deserves to lose his job for that alone :wenger:
Ferguson cut ties with his top players numerous times. Why do people see this as an issue with Conte?

People also seem to complain about player power at the club. About time the manager makes his own decisions.

The Costa situation is complete farce.

The club is in turmoil at the moment.

He's acting like an idiot and the club are just dealing with it. Not sure how this counts as turmoil to be honest. The only reason people are getting all melodramatic is because we lost an unexpected game.

Listening to his interview, along with Azpilcueta, it seems there are issues within the dressing room.

The Costa situation doesn't look like being resolved and he seems a popular character in the dressing room. Terrible situation to be in in my opinion.

When Ferguson cut ties with top players, he usually had a backup plan without the star player.
Conte haven't at the moment. After losing Lukaku battle against us, they had a panic buy for Morata.
Although Morata isn't a bad backup plan, he isn't PL proven, or anywhere proven.

Not only that he sold Matic to his biggest rival.

Two transfer mistakes in a season can be disastrous. Just like one sublime signing can turn things around, Conte did the exact opposite.

Issues in the Chelsea dressing room? That can't be right. I thought that was all Jose's fault. That's what the press and the pundits said anyway...

Wasn't it revealed that, in recent years, Chelsea's top brass had a policy of not allowing managers to hold too much power? I'm not a fan of Conte's but this policy might make him struggle.

Do not compare Conte to SAF. SAF had replacements ready to go, whenever he would cut ties with a player.

Mata? Check
Lukaku? Check
Mourinho? Check
Matic? Check

Title? We will have that from you too. Thanks ;)

Enjoy Europa League next season! Thursday nights are great..

The club supposedly in talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sergi Roberto. Decent signings if this also includes Drinkwater

Have to agree with this. Losing a game 3-2 after being down to 10 and then 9 men is no reason to panic. The injuries and suspension aren't ideal and I suspect you'll lose to Spurs. That said, you really need to sign some players in the next 2 weeks. Your depth is shocking.

Yep, completely agree with all of that. If the window closes without several new signings I'll probably jump on the panic train.

Isn't it squad depth that people are complaining about?
Signing players who aren't really that good for squad depth doesn't usually work out very well, feel like we've done it numerous times. They'd be better off signing a genuinely quality player rather than someone who will probably underwhelm most of the time
