Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

Some harsh comments here about Conte.
In Conte's defence, transfer business was not under his control and thats how chelsea operates. He also did not get the signings he requested for.I dont think Danny was his preferred signing.

Lets put this way- if Jose leaves , I would be okay in Conte taking over (ofcourse if available and interested)

Wonder if this thread will ever get back on to a decent level of conversation about actual football and tactics.

Rather than about two managers arguing like kids.

Before this season is out, I expect to see at least one of Pep, Conte or Klopp completely lose it live on national TV. I have a bag of popcorn and a crate of Stella stocked up in anticipation for this event.

I feel Conte will be the first to blow, but any or indeed all of them will do fine.

You might be right though I expect JM to blow a gasket next season and be dismissed by the club.

When a guy who is having mini rants here and using lots of !!! is speaking about who is raging

Keep trying pal, the fact that you posted about Conte while a United match was on says everything about how much he has rattled you.

Imagine being preoccupied by a rival manager while your own team is playing....

I'm starting to feel as sorry for you as I do your manager.

In the words of Juan Mata *hugs*

Calling others angry when you're going ten rounds with your keyboard is a classic symptom of a rageoholic. I'm in no position to offer a definitive prognosis on the matter but my rage-dar is through the roof in here.

United supporters in this thread are embarrassing themselves

What are you going on about? You mean the chap who is having a meltdown because he supports Chelsea. Unless he’s another Chelsea fan who pretends to be a Man Utd fan on here. But the CFC gives it away.

What's wrong with a bit of light hearted banter? The other lad took it a little to seriously for my liking but to each their own. No hard feelings and all that.

Antonio Conte is a raging lunatic on the verge of an epic meltdown. Agree or disagree?

No amount of deflection tactics will change the fact you choose talking about Conte over watching your own team play. You can try all you like to turn it on me, but Conte has clearly rattled you (i can understand it tbf, i'd also probably dislike a manager if in 18 months he pissed a league i thought was ours then taught us 3 footballing lessons to boot, although not to the hateful extent you do), it's a shame you all feel the need to take it out on me instead of trying to discuss in a civil manner, but i won't hold it against you :)

You're the gift that keeps on giving

Seriously look at the thread. Everyone is really concerned for you! Seeing a grown man crumble online is quite distressing.

Trying to pretend im crumbling when you choose talking about Conte over watching your own team play doesn't really wash buddy. I admire your attempt's to try and save face, but the damage was done on Friday night.

The fact you keep editing every post shows how much you're struggling.. Meltdown central!

Anyway you're derailing your own clubs thread repeatedly so probably best we move on.

Shitty phone unfortunately which has an autocorrect mind of it's own. You talk about moving on, i would have more happier not to have started this in the first place, its you and a few others that have started all this. I have always been one for strong debate, the post you lot decided to pounce on and act like schoolkids about is no different to discussions i have had with my own supporters who i disagree with on matters.

Out of all the top 6 clubs i thought it was you lot that didn't really have anything against us, until now!!!

I think by and large United fans have enjoyed their rivalry with Chelsea however things have become a little prickly lately I agree.

With regards to on the Caf it somewhat feels as though you guys have got a bee in your bonnets about Jose coming to us. I kind of understand why, I'd of been mortified if Sir Alex had joined another team so it must be somewhat difficult to stomach at times. Fact is you let him go though so he's entitled to move without ill feeling surely? In addition the attitude of some Chelsea fans has become quite blinkered and detached. For example Matic left and suddenly you were chuffed to move him on as Bakayoko was by far the better player.. When he flopped it was allegedly Drinkwater who was brought in to replace him and he's been fantastic.. It's as nonsensical as it reads. Then United pinch Lukaku and suddenly you weren't really interested in him and wanted Morata all along.. Again not particularly accurate. And then the battle of the managers.. Conte gets the wrong idea and starts making despicable comments for no reason. Instead of saying he's out of order we get more excuses and excuses..

In short there seems to be a total lack of humility and it gets a little tiresome.

I didn't want Lukaku, but equally i won't pretend Morata was my number 1 target, Belotti or Auba were who i had my heart set on. With Jose, as i 'famously' stated the other day, my main gripe is the lack of respect he has shown us fans who stuck by him when he had us 16th, i get him being upset with the club to an extent, but the fans? Re Matic, someone sent a link of a page on a CFC forum villifying him before United looked like it was happening, admittedly it's looking increasingly like bringing in Bakayoko was a horrendous error of judgement, but it's like the Hart/Bravo situation, the latter coming in and struggling shouldn't make the former be better than what he was previous (lets hope we rectify that mistake aswell as City did). That said im not denying Matic is looking refreshed now, maybe he needed the new challenge, who knows.

On a side note im glad we have restored a bit of order, hopefully next time we cross path's is a little better circumstances

What are the main things Jose has done to upset the fans?

I don't recall him being disrespectful but I'll be honest I might have missed it if he has.

Another thing I'd be interested to know is if you think Chelsea should change the structure behind the scenes and give power back to the manager? There seems to be a lot going on which frustrates Conte and if he does infact leave come summer surely a rethink is needed? Or do you think Conte is the difficult one (given his fall out with Juve) and the set up is effective?

His actions in the FA Cup game was the main straw, even if someone chanted judas at him he ripped us all apart due to that one fan.

I have always been on the fence when it comes to the manager control issue, ofcourse they should have a say but in the world were they have a short shelf life at clubs not sure giving the manager that much power would be beneficial and i still shudder thinking Scolari tried to replace Drogba with Adriano :wenger:

Agree with everything you wrote and I am a Chelsea fan. There’s always a certain set of fans who slavishly believe all Chelsea’s purchases are the best and all the sales are over-the-Hill types. These fans shouldn’t even be posting in Football forums.

It's just that Chelsea fans became like arsenal fans and outraged by everything. Jose said Chelsea are defensively strong and very good counter attacking team which somehow translated to Chelsea are defensive team and Chelsea fans started to lose their shit.

I second this. Conte, as anyone can see, is a winner much like Jose who moans when things don't go his way. You can see by his comments on City's spending that them running away with the league is killing him just as it is for Jose. This, after winning the league last season himself.

Winners are often sour when they are not winning, so both Jose's and Conte's behavior is understandable.

Don't totally agree, I think JM is used to winding managers up as part of his psychological campaign against his top rivals. He is good at this.
Conte for some strange reason (character fault?) seems impelled to respond to every put down and unfortunately he does not have the linguistic ability to respond sufficiently and so is likely to make himself look silly. Best to ignore any perceived provocations, IMO.

I was not talking about their current spat when I said they both look pissed off now. That's certainly two grown men calling each other names - pretty much childish. In general, both of them have been moody this season and I was pointing out that it is because neither of them are in the title race.

Your correct, both acting childish, both in the wrong and both probably sour at the minute due to city. Then there's adults in here making them both look mature in comparison.

Our record against Arsenal is so shite recently we need to beat them tomorrow, convincingly.

Looks like we did one over chelsea in the summer and the owners confirm it. Maybe conte meant Lukaku when he said, he neve gets the players he wants.

Seen this on twitter, evertons owner is nuts!

on a side note i was more surprised people bought the story that Lukaku wanted to come here over Chelsea in an ideal world

Which is absolutely correct. The Chelsea board got rattled after Man Utd matched what Everton demanded for Lukaku. Nobody to blame but themselves as Marina did her low balling and one pound incremental bids. The Chelsea board then matched Utd’s bid in a face saving exercise but by then everyone knew who Lukaku would be joining. It was reported Conte threw a fit while holidaying in his native Italy and the board had to act fast to land Morata otherwise they risked losing him to one of the Milan clubs.

Any coach that joins Chelsea after Conte leaves this summer will need to be wary of the fact that the Chelsea board doesn’t give a rats arse about the coach’s opinion and buys players only if they fit a tight Budget or when a spectacular implosion like the Lukaku case occurs. Which is okay if Roman didn’t mind being the new Arsenal and be content with finishing in the top 4 or 6 and not wining any trophies but knowing his ego, he still demands trophies every single season despite spending (on a net basis) less than Arsenal do. Hence, I don’t see many first class ambitious coaches wanting to join Chelsea after Conte leaves or is sacked which is a good thing as this serves as a wake up call to Roman and the board.

Erm, we won the league last year, and only spent £25m less in the summer than United who had a much bigger rebuilding job to do.

Some on here just only see the negatives, we all know we should have done much better in the summer but the reality is we didn't and we are behind a ridiculous City side. For me important aspects now would be to plug the gaps in Jan & Summer. To tie down Tibo & Hazard.

I do not want to see us go for some average prem striker (Carrol, Benteke) I don't care if they are back up it is quite simply a waste of money and we should look for someone similar to Jesus and take a risk if we don't want to spend much. Someone young and dynamic.

You mean like we did with Batshuayi? The reason for buying a backup from the prem is that you know already they'll be reliable. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing (although I'd still hate us to buy Carrol).

I do though yes, just because Bathsuayi (currently) has not lived up to what we thought and even then once he has a full year out on loan under his belt he might.

I don't think Llorente who we would have replaced him with in the summer has been that amazing for spurs if I'm honest, it was looked at so negatively yet batshuayi whilst looking poor in some games is still hugely effective as a super sub so I don't feel Llorente would've actually benefitted us much.

Its a difficult one but I do think those options are not good enough to play for Chelsea.

You may well be right, although if its just a half season cover with an intention to bring in someone strong in the summer I could live with it.
