Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

They'd be foolish to sack him.

I said that about Mourinho also. Weird club.

Not sure there's really any other alternative at this stage considering he's clearly unhappy and doesn't want to be there. Ideally Mourinho wouldn't have been sacked considering he's by all rights their greatest ever manager, but again - the players had turned on him and little else could be done.

What really needs to happen is a general change of culture within the club. Although...at the same time, in spite of the constant turmoil they find themselves in, they've managed to win more PL titles than anyone else in the last three or four years, and are the only club since us to have a CL to boot, fluky as it may have been. So suppose they can argue their approach works to some extent.

That's it.

What an awkward interview though, the interviewer was so cruel. He kept hitting at him without sympathy.:lol:

Won't be a surprise if it turns out to be his last interview.

"So, Antonio, just how badly did you feck that one up, you loser?"

Just doing his job.

I think they'll keep him till the Barcelona game, at least, whatever the results.

The interviewer made it extremely awkward for the interviewee with the way he was asking Conte to single out and name players that he deemed were mistakes in the starting XI, and of course Conte refused to comment on it.

They look nothing like a Conte team

Must be civil war at Chelsea between him and the club

I'm against sacking him, they won the league last season and they still have a real good chance finishing fourth or even third, 5 points or so is nothing if they can bounce. They would be stupid to sack him IMO.

Someone at Chelsea hates Conte and is having a laugh. It's sort of fun how you can take such a good team and feck them up.

This could be the start of a serious long-term decline for Chelsea.

If they finish outside the top 4, Hazard is surely off to Barca or somewhere ... and he's pretty much irreplaceable.

On top of that, they now have new stadium to start funding. Even if the actual start of construction is a long way off, the design and planning permission process is expensive all by itself. And Abramovich looks like he's lost interest in bank-rolling them much further.

Please please please Roman give it to Van Gaal. I assure you he lays the foundations.

I dont like it when people get the sack, but in this case, if it happens, I will be ecstatic.

As for Chelsea, they have a group of spineless egocentric players who care only for themselves and no one else. They brought down Jose and now doing the same with Conte.

Hazard is the main culprit, he looks like a nice kid but he is just a snake. I read somewhere that he can win Ballon d' or. Not in a million years. He is no Messi, and he is definitely not Ronaldo. Feckin one trick pony.

Literally the most clueless post I’ve read.

Hazard has zero help and is being played as a false 9. Seeing as the midfield is atrocious and has zero creativity and the human turnover machine it’s no wonder Chelsea is in shambles.

The problem isn't so much the results but the fact Conte's fallen out with the board and evidently doesn't want to be there.

Chelsea are now turning into a club that don't want to spend in line with their expectations (or at least the fans expectations).
That's two managers in a row who've been frustrated at the sub par player signings they've been handed a year after overachieving and winning the league.

Maybe yes maybe no. IMO I don't think managers throw the towel that easy.

I don't think it's him throwing in the towel easily as such, he's evidently been unhappy all the while and is constantly clashing with the board. He wants out and I struggle to see him staying beyond this season.

Surely I'm not the only one spotting the irony here?

Conte gave up months ago.

The only questions are when he'll be chopped, and who they'll get in to replace him.

I'm not a massive fan of Conte but that interviewer had some front. Between pushing him for names and the "I didn't just say Barkley, did I?" comment it would've been very tempting to chin him.

I think the opposite will happen. He will be sacked before Barca match to get a reaction from the players like the year they won CL ( though he was sacked after first leg against Napoli)

His problems started when he alienated Diego Costa. The board must take some of the blame but falling out with a striker like Costa was very damaging for him and Chelsea.

Who is leading these revolts? Surely it's not someone who is new or shit as people wouldn't respect them.

My money is on the Belgians.
