I don't know if it's just me but I reckon Chelsea, despite being awful this season, will massively improve next season. A lot has been made of their signings and the mess of the managerial situation, all valid criticism's. However, I do think that the noise has distorted the fact that when you look some of the new arrivals along with the incumbent players who are indispensable (like Reece James), Chelsea have a pretty solid squad which is missing only a few pieces. Enzo, Mudryk, Madueke, Badiashile and Fofana in my opinion are great signings. That's a young core you can build a title winning side around. On top of that you've still got Chilwell and James. Levi Colwil looks unreal at Brighton, so he'll be back next season potentially. Nkunku will be a nice addition to the attack which is lacking penetration at the moment. Then you've got a several, talented U21s who are either coming through academy or have been purchased for a reasonable fee (Chukwuemeka, Slonina, Fofana etc).
The most crucial moment for Chelsea will be who they pick as their next manager. Potter, despite showing potential at Brighton, just couldn't handle the mess and pressure of the job. Everyone knew at the time it was a risky move for him. Whoever comes next will unlikely have to deal with the same difficult conditions since that bar will set much lower based on Potter's tenure. Personally I really like Poch. I can see what he would bring to Chelsea, tactically and from a man management perspective. My only worry would be how damaged his confidence will be from the PSG.
I'd be interested to know what Chelsea fans think.
