Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

Why? He was a near ever-present in a Championship promotion chasing team at 17... Chelsea ruined his development sending him out on loan every season to a different place and never giving him first-team experience at the club. Just like they ruin dozens of young players.

Right, that still doesn't make him good enough.

Right, that still doesn't make him good enough.

At what point wasn't he good enough, though? Maybe now he's not no, and he's 22 and maybe never will be now due to his development being stunted.

But back when he was 17/18, he perhaps should have been given opportunities. Was he good enough to play regularly week-in, week-out? Probably not, but he could have been eased in with a bit of game-time and soon proved that.

That's like saying you lot should sell Fosu-Mensah, Tuanzebe, Angel Gomes now because they aren't yet good enough to play every week...

I'd have kept him around too, but perhaps he didn't want to be second string with both Bakayoko and Fabregas also needing game time at CM.

I still don't believe that it happened that way around. I think Matic not staying was the catalyst for signing Bakayoko.

What is he saying? Content is not viewable on my cell.

I have been following Conte for a long long time. As a player he was a less crazy, more intelligent and less talented version of Keane. He would lead by example, he would rally the troops and he would make sure that everyone would follow the instructions. Lippi once said that he never bothered explaining Conte any tactics. That’s quite an achievement considered that Lippi was a control freak and a massive cnut who loved making people around him look stupid.

Conte’s return to Juventus was pretty straightforward and for good reason. The man was born to be a Juventus manager. He was a natural in terms of understanding tactics, he had great leadership + his work ethic + ruthlessness is synonymous to Juventus. All that shouting, posturing and overreaction are not for show/part of a mind game. Conte is that type of person. He will always give his 100%, every time and every moment of his life.

However, he does have a slight flaw in his character which, I believe, will not allow him to develop to the heights of SAF or even Mourinho. The guy expects that same work ethic and will to win at all costs from everybody and is not ready to compromise. If he wants something and that is not given to him then he will become moody. Do that in repetition and you’ll end up becoming his no 1 enemy.

Juventus learnt that the hard way. At one point Conte wanted Cuadrado. He thought that he was his ‘missing’ link to do well in the CL. Unfortunately Chelsea bidded for him. Juventus wasn’t (and still isn’t) in a position to start a bidding war with Chelsea so it turned its sights elsewhere. Surely Conte would understand. He’s been with Juventus for so many years and he knows that the club had its own limits. He also know that the club has some of the best scouts in the world so they will probably be able to bring a top quality alternative to him.

Well…..Conte didn’t took that well. He went on the media and delivered a speech that would make the likes of Keegan proud. His analogies became legendary. ‘You can’t pretend to eat at a 100 euros restaurant with just 10 euros…bla bla bla’. After that, he had no choice but to leave. You don’t take la vecchia signora on in that way and expect to keep your job afterwards. That was never going to happen.

Italy came to the rescue and offered him a job. The national team wasn’t passing from the best of moments and signing Conte was a bit of a coup. Unfortunately, his flaw in character soon became evident. Conte would moan endlessly how this was a part time job and about his inability of organizing friendlies and training camps when he liked to. The FA responded to that by saying that no FA would ever allow that to happen. The Serie A can’t be disrupted simply because the national team manager was bored. Meanwhile Allegri’s European success at Juventus hit his pride. He simply had to step back into action before Allegri is able to win the CL with Juventus.

Chelsea was supposed to be Conte’s opportunity to shine without having any restrictions whatsoever. The man is determined to win the CL, Chelsea has the money to make that happen and that’s the only thing that matters. The moment Conte start hearing no then rest assured that he won’t be happy. If he can show the middle finger to the club that made him then imagine what he would do towards a mercenary club with no history and with whom he’s got no attachment too.

Do Chelsea always lose the Community Shield in a season where the manager gets the boot?

Chelsea lose the community shield regardless of the manager situation. They have a poor record in the competition having won just 4 out of 12 appearances over all and only 2 out of 8 appearances in the Abrahmovic era.

Poorly adapted version of Mourinho's omelette rant.

I think it is quite clear from the last 2-3 seasons that Chelsea do not have the money. Either he walks away in the next two weeks or he gets fired by December. The odds of him being the first managerial departure of the season are getting shorter by the day.

In a way it would be fitting for him to go to Milan and start their era of domination over Juventus the same way a rossoneri discard kickstarted Juve's current streach of domination.

Ah right, that's a dreadful record in fairness.

Mou is extremely charismatic. On that regard he's second only to SAF. Similarly to the old man, he uses such charisma to divert unwanted attention on him. Unfortunately he's also an egocentric prick which means he sometimes overdo it. That's why Mou will probably end up with a way longer list of enemies then SAF did.

Conte is an over-emotional junky and tend to be one track minded. Football management wise he's far more brilliant then Keane is. However, similar to Keane he's yet to shrug off his captain mentality and start seeing things from a strategic point of view. Irrespective of how rich and well intentioned a club can be, there are instances that it simply cant satisfy the manager's demands. That's something Mou can comprehend (although he will bitch about) but Conte can't. Mou might say that he wasn't able to win X or Y trophy because the club wasn't able to bring him the player he wanted. Conte would probably cause a scene and move elsewhere because the club was mean to him and doesn't want him to succeed.

What do you think you're budget is? I realize it's probably not set in stone but roundabouts?

There was talk about a £200m transfer kitty before the window opened, and we've spent about £125m so far. We're supposed to be looking to bring in about 3 more players, but I'm guessing they'd all be at the £25-40m range each, unless we miraculously pry Alex Sandro from Juve for a bigger fee.

Alright cheers. Think you probably have to bring in a player or two more.

I start to lose faith when we don't actually bring in the 3 more players that are being promised. We will have brought in 7 more players if so and spent roughly I would assume 200m. Which if we had said that before the window would've been met with a lot of optimism.

Agreed we have lost Costa who was important for us definitely, having said that we essentially played 40% of the season with him not even wanting to be on the pitch and the team still functioning around him. We also have Morata and Batshuayi to share his goals essentially between them which I am very confident they will do and I don't understand why other Chelsea fans aren't? We spent so long saying Morata would fit our style of play and that Batshuayi had potential and should have a chance so this year we will see.

Other than pretty much all youth players who have not really contributed and would realistically only get a run out in cup competitions or sub appearances. The only other player we have lost is Matic which against the top 6 teams I admit maybe we will suffer and Baka might not be as stable. But against the rest of the teams in the league he essentially offered the bare minimum going forward and majority of the time against all the lesser teams we looked miles better with Fab in their anyway.

Looks clear from his interview that he didn't wanted to sell Matic and he was sold against his wishes. Clearly not happy.

I'm confident about Morata and Batman. My only concerns are the thinness of the squad.

I agree it is thin, but a lot of other teams will have squad filler that wont ever be used bar the league cup and FA cup early rounds. I still like the look of the young players we have kept like Boga and Musonda and I think when they do play the fact it will be still with a strong set of players helps. The only places we are too thin is wing back and CM which are where we will probably get the signings.

If Christensen proves a capable option which we all hope he will then, it will also help Azpi move to Wing back when we need further cover.

Doubt this.
I was listening to a radio show at the weekend.
Roman feels he has spent serious amounts of money on the academy, for it to contribute to the first team.
I have a feeling this pov isn't too far from the truth.
He is probably not happy the money is going to waste.

Conte: Roman, I needa new playas now.
Roman: Hello, you've reached the chairman's office of CFC. I'm sorry but I cannot take your call right now, I'm too busy wooing a Russian ballerina. For transfers please speak to Marina Granovskaia. Thank you.

This is a bit silly. Matic wasn't a key player, which is why we sold him.

If we got 50M for Matic that would be an obscenely good transfer from our perspective, whilst he's not the worst player in the world he is very very average.

We signed Bakayoko as an upgrade on Matic. Conte and the club think so anyways.

Conte: "Matic is a top player, really important [and] is a great loss"

Do you think you were underselling him/misrepresenting Conte's views, or is Conte just kicking up a fuss?

Having seen Matic perform superbly they have definitely lost a top player.

It's blantant Conte didn't want to sell to United too

Cracking business from United, brainless from Chelsea. I don't even think Bakayoko is as good as him and may never be!

There is definitely something that's not quite right about that club. I can definitely see a 'Chelsea after winning the league' second season brewing there, and Conte is strong enough to not stand for it - he knows he'd be highly prized elsewhere, especially back home. Could be interesting to see how this pans out coz at present they've added Ruediger (decent but not great) at CB, Morata (will not come close to equalling Costa's reliable goal return) and are targeting Drinkwater. Bakayoko is talented but raw and won't provide stability in their midfield this season.

Academy or not. Getting out spent (and massively so) by flecking arsenal is going not going to take the club forward.

Also, it would be fine if he gave a manager 2-3 years to get academy players to work but the problem is that Abrahmovic (in recent times) allows neither the time for academy players to come through nor enough money to buy quality players.

Yeah, buying Morata for £60m clearly shows we're probably only mid-table level..
Mid table is going a bit far. That said, getting Morata when you need a Lewandowski or Dybala definitely shows that he lacs either intent or money.

Maybe this is the time he is giving acadamy players time to come through...? Ever thought of that?

Haven't Chelsea spent more this season than Arsenal?

No. Arsenal have spent circa £40m while Chelsea have spent about £25m. But that was not my point. Over the last 5 seasons, Arsenal have spent almost double of what Chelsea has spent in the market.

Chelsea had out grown arsenal in every real aspect by 2012-13 and I am shocked how the club is letting arsenal claw its way back to being the bigger club than Chelsea again.

That's completely delusional.

Read the part you quote again and try to find the inconsistency with what you are saying.
