Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

If they wanted to play 3 at the back, I'm sure they would've kept Cuadrado

All these changes you're mentioning are just unrealistic in one summer.

What sign Luiz and put Morgan Rojo and Jones up for sale? Not sure we could not manage that the only one would be getting a buyer for Rojo at any price.

Watching Kante in that midfield makes me want to weep. Would have been a great signing to play alongside Pogba in our midfield. He is simply awesome at breaking up play.

Better for him and the club if he wasn't going to start every match that he went. Not as good or consistent going forward as Willian and isn't nearly as good defending at as actual fullback.

My hope is that Alonso settles immedietly and Conte puts him straight in the team in place of Ivanovic. To have a LB who is super comfortable going forward to link up with and ease the attention on Hazard would be huge. He's clearly been hand picked by Conte from Serie A because there's no way the club would've been after him otherwise.

Neither Mourinho nor Guus had the stones to drop Ivanovic no matter how terrible he played. Let's see if Conte does. He had no issue dropping Cesc.

And then put him on the bench? I'd play Smalling, Blind and Bailey ahead of Luiz. If we want to buy a CB we need to go for a top quality one.

That julien Laurens guy said he hasn't improved as a player since his move.

Would be utterly pointless to buy Kante AND play 3 at the back THEN play Matic as well. It's got to be

------------------Courtois
----------Cahill----Luiz-----Terry
Alonso-----------------------------Azpilicueta
--------------Kante---Fabregas------
------Willian------Costa---Hazard--------

Maybe Oscar for Fabregas... but anything else is just far too negative.
I dunno, Conte likes defence minded midfielders.

Myth that Conte is a defense minded coach. He famously played all 3 of Pirlo, Vidal, and Pogba in midfield.

I think he played Pirlo in behind Marchisio and Pogba with Vidal slightly ahead of those two. A midfield of Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio and Vidal is fairly solid defensively. In fact that's four players protecting the back three. Fairly defensive.

I've had a theory that Conte has been waiting for the new CB before putting Fabregas into the team. Hope it's true and he's not just benched for most of the season.

Why does everyone seem to think they're going to play 3-5-2? Surely the logical step would be to play a back four of Azpilicueta, Luiz, Terry and Alonso.

I guess because he used a formation with 3 central defenders at Juve and with the national team? Still I'm not fully convinced he will really go back to that formation in the PL, maybe for the tough games? I guess we will see in the upcoming weeks what he is planning for his team.

Sorry didn't make it clear, wasn't making a prediction about what he would do. Just saying what he *should* do. 5 at the back with 2 defensive midfielders just won't get enough goals.

As a Chelsea fan, this is what I've been saying. Many people posting 3-5-2 lineups without Azpi but he probably our best overall defender. Can't see him being dropped. Also don't think Terry has the range and pace to get around.

I think we'll continue to play the 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 we've been using and changing to 2 up top if we're in need of a goal. Next season when JT is gone we'll then look to play 3-5-2.

Exactly.

I keep seeing these 3-5-2 formations and they look stupid. Not all coaches are committed to one formation. They will play whatever suits the team and currently thats a 4-3-3 or any derivative of that. Furthermore, it's been proven on numerous occasions that 3-5-2 isn't a very successful formation in the PL.

I'm praying that Conte doesn't bother with formations switch-ups (especially 3 at the back) when the team is already settled on one.

There's no benefits to Conte playing 352 since it would force our best player out of position.

Chelsea look very strong and well balanced. Not being in Europe could be key for them this season.

I think Marcos Alonso was very good during his Sunderland loan which went under the radar. Should be a good addition. With Kante continuing from where he ended last season, they are definitely not a joke this season. Luiz signing is still pretty bizarre, but I think he will do well.

If were really stupid, we will listen to the press and feel the pressure and go all out attack vs Chelsea and have our arses handed to us.

Flabbergasted that anyone would think this game is a must-win, all you need from this game is the very same set up and approach from the Pool one. We just need our front line to perform to the standard we need, Mhiki and Martial back should help immensely.

Stamford Bridge is a hard place to win, equally if not more difficult than Anfield, derby or not. Chelsea will want to prove a point as will Conte, they are in the title race and they were right to sack Jose. Shut the game down, take our opportunities and chances.

If we go there expecting to outplay and beat Chelsea at home well be on a hiding to nothing. You cant under-estimate them especially at home, it was only a couple of weeks back they were unbeaten also.

I wouldn't change the squad, Same line-up, perhaps Martial in for Rashford that's all. Same style, contain and use possession smartly and hope Ibra doesnt have another off day.

They look exactly like us. Not wholly formed and probable/possible top four at best.

They dont look like anything, no team looks like anything yet, Im a strong believer you can not make judgements on top 4/ title races until after December, Palace were top 4 this time last year and Leicester were somewhere like 10th.

Manchester City do look like something though. Spurs seem to have found their "philosophy"

No team looks like anything? You mean Sunderland don't look like a crushed bag of Made in China plankton? I can either believe you or my own eyes. Liverpool, Spurs, City = obviously got their game together to a decent extent. (Maybe Arsenal, too.) Us and Chelsea = clearly could go either way.

Have to say City look like City always do early doors, yet no win in 3 now and Barca up tonight....

Liverpool arguable although a loss to Burnley is pretty big and a damp performance against United, Unconvincing so far.

Spurs absolutely, they are probably the outlying top club at the moment still unbeaten and still looking strong, having dispatched City as if they are nothing.

Chelsea, United- we look good but much like the others have had our wobbles early on.

Arsenal for me are the most likely team out of the current ones that look like a team that could win the league, they have been unspectacular but quietly confident and strong Level at the top and on a better spell of form than City.

BUT once again its far far too early to call any finishing positions or any potential title winners, its just silly really.

This time last year the top 6 were as follows:

1.Manchester United (5)
2.Manchester City (4)
3.West Ham United (7)
4.Arsenal (2)
5.Everton (6)
6.Spurs (3)

The table as is, wont remain that way, there will be major swaps, huge results and crashes its absurd to think that the title is decided and places looking final after just two months.

They looked good against Leicester, but we also belted Leicester so I guess it isn't a huge indicator of how good they can be. Ideally I'd like to leave with all 3 points, but I'd take a draw at Stamford Bridge. Have a feeling Jose will want to prove a point though...

Costa is more dangerous than any Utd striker at the moment and a few others are just beginning to hit form, mainly Hazard.

They are still easy to stifle though and no one stifles better than Mourinho. Only difference is Chelsea will be well rested and well drilled with no midweek fixture so they should be looking at 3 points here.

I dont think Jose cares about proving a point and more to OUR point, Our squad and team isnt in a position to be beating teams like that away from home. At this point, during this period we just need to come out the other side with positive results, weve been absolutely hammered by the fixtures list and its a bit of a joke to be honest. I completely understand if Jose shuts all these games up other than Fenerbace and City.

Alonso was completely isolated, we probably should've exploited that left side more often.

I'm still wondering why Albrighton was playing so inverted and central.

We made them look great today.. they aren't.

Glad Mourinho called out Conte at the end too. Small time club through and through.
