Chelsea vs Manchester United

The government is to blame for this. The Tory government. fecking Tories.

Unless it's the mayor's fault. The Tory mayor, that would be. Lazy cnut.

Fortunately the Big Society will solve this problem. Even as I speak an army of cockneys is swarming out from their homes armed with shovels and grit-speaders to save the day. Thank god Cameron showed us the way.

Next thing you know they will be selling our gold reserves when prices are at multi-year lows, reneging on an electoral promise on a referendum on the European Constitution and knighting Sir Fred...

Mhm. You said kilometers before. That's what irked me.

Anyways, what Chelsea is lacking is considered as common sense. Ned Stark needs to go around the the country and hold speeches.

Well it is kilometres, 6.9 to be precise. Thats a lot of material!

The pitch isn't anything to worry about, Stamford Bridge isn't Bloomfield Road. We only have the outside area to worry about, it's all on Clapham council, who won't call it off late, we will know by midday.

Would it not be Hammersmith and Fulham's decision? Does SB come under their boundaries? I would have thought so.

I remember reading 6900 sq km. You sure you didn't edit. That's what I read at least. My bad then.

Still not a lot really for a club like Chelsea. The material comes with a massive guarantee. They won't have to buy one again.

In Iceland when it's really bad they blow dry the pitch as well. But our grass has harder soil than yours so that won't be needed. Good heating system and a cover should be enough.

Pretty sure I've seen German stadiums have this.

I'm guessing it would cost a small fortune and for what really? Each time the game has been called off it's been down to the transport system grinding to a halt rather than the pitch being frozen. There's no point having an immaculate green pitch if nobody can get to watch it in action.

I thought it was Clapham, could well be mistaken though.

Yeah, I'm not sure. I think it's H & F though.

Generally I rate them as one of the better London Councils, so hopefully they'll put it out the bag tomorrow. I'm not overly hopeful right now but haven't given up completely.

It's in H&F. Lets hope they act to salt the payments and vindicate some of the £1,100 a year I pay them in council tax.

I might cost them a reserve teams player a weeks wage.

What's the point? Because the pitch will be better if they play. And it's not a big deal. Same people, who at half time go out on the pitch and "reattach" the grass would do the work. No biggie.

I'm sure if a small Icelandic club can do it then Chelsea can do it as well. It's not rocket science.

Don't think a thousand pounds here or there will stretch Abromavich's billions.

6900 square meters are NOT 6.9 square kilometers. it's 0.0069 square kilometers.

To make it obvious for you, a square kilometer is a 1000 x 1000 meters.

It's stopped snowing for a while here in west London. Let's hope all is OK. The sky is oddly light for this time of night, a kind of purple-y grey. Dunno if the moon's light is reflecting off the snow or what...

and that's what the problem is , the pitch will be in excellent condition , but if the roads and walkways are covered in Ice , what else is there to do but call it off.
Councils will not spend a shit load of money on equipment that might only get used one in a while and if they did and it sat around for years doing nothing and it put you council tax up , you would go mad , I know I would.

Shit I know but thats the way its always been.

The pitch will not be a problem, it's going to be hard to deal with the surrounding areas again.

Nine hours to kick off.

Saw the Birmingham - Southampton game where only 10 percent of the green was visible yet they played.

Would prefer no match instead of playing in such conditions.

Anyways whats the word?

I can see you point , but that was being played has the snow was falling , so the fans would of already been there.
I have seen match's played in worse.

Derby just confirmed their game against Nottingham will go on as planned. When will a decision on our game be? Should be very soon you would think.

i rather it not be postponed, its a good timing for us to play them when they are without terry, cole and drogba.

If every fan going to the game took a shovel and some grit it will be on, come on lads

Derby Forest is a 12:15 kick off and they've waited all this time to call it off now. Guess we won't know till much later. But then again they couldn't wait to call it off last season.

Though at the moment I'm hoping for either game to be cancelled or trains to stop being cancelled.

Is it in the slightest bit possible this also has something to do with the sad and early demise of Doughty? I.E. They'd rather the game was off and this is a good excuse?

Clutching at straws I know but surely they can't leave it much later when so many fans will b travelling from the north.

Thought of that too.

Where's fecking twitter when you need it? Not a peep by any of the journos on there.

Anyway, with last year's game as I remember, there was less snow here than there is now, but more ice due to the previous poor weather. Also the game was called off the day before and in hindsight could have probably gone ahead.

There was just as much snow last year but it had fallen earlier and there had been significant disruption during the week. If people were going to travel down they'd basically be on their way now so they're leaving it sufficiently late to be irrelevant.

They wont give a feck about travel now. It'll be whether they're worried about people slipping and injuring themselves on the ice. Arsenal had a game called off last season and it was left until the morning of the game when there were already away fans outside the ground.
