I think I posted in this thread before the game, this is one of those ties where you don't really care if you lose and can enjoy the perfomrance.
They did perform, we ultimately got undone by them bringing on their best 3 players who have taken them top of the league and pushed us all the way against 2 very young defenders who went most the game without a defensive player ahead of them.

And they did. The inexperience of the defense really showed in the end. Most premier league defenders struggle against the movement of Hazard, Mata and Oscar, this was only Wootton, Keane and Buttman. Also, our most defensive mid had to move out to the right and a young 18 year old bought from league one was patrolling the centre, and doing well.
Losing is disappointing but we come out of the game our heads held high.
Chelsea started with Cech, Luiz and Cahill. We started with Lindegaard, Keane and Wootton. They also had Mata playing, who is probably the standout player in the PL right now. He's on fire.
They brought on millions worth of talent to rescue the game, we brought on young reserve players. We could have easily put Rooney/RvP on the bench, or Rio/Evans. But we put our faith in the young lads.
Another thing, we have four great strikers. Chelsea have Torres and Sturridge.

Wootton made a big mistake, but one can argue it's down to inexperience.
But Nani on the other hand is very much experienced, and really should know better. He should have taken the ball to the corner flag, draw a throw-in or corner.....anything!

I agree. People are ringing in saying we should have played a full team. The same ones would have moaned if we had a Rooney sent off or RVP or Rio injured, You can't please some people. It's the COC cup. I want us to win the league.

A bit sad to see us go out, would have liked the young lads to have a longer run this year. However, I am very pleased by the display, especially by Keane, Powell and Ando.
