So here's a question: if you had to choose between either united winning the treble or england winning the world cup, which would it be? (to the non united supporting fans, your club winning the treble or england winning the world cup)

For me its united every time.

Surely every United Fan will choose United when its something as massive as the treble?

I'd pick United winning the Charity Shield over England winning the World Cup.

You see I think you are kidding yourself there.

You are either on a wind-up, lying to yourself or trying to act big for our foreign fans on a United board.

The Charity Shield would have made a better thread question, 'Do you pick United winning the Charity Shield over England winning the World Cup ?'

I'd maybe pass away the FA Cup for Iceland winning the World Cup - as long as united would still do the double.

United always first

Could not give a shit about NI or Ireland tbh

I support England at every major international tournament, and I guarantee that the English amongst you do too, even if you're claiming you don't care about the national team. You just switch off when the World Cup comes around, or maybe even start supporting the French?

Thankfully, such a situation as the title would never happen, and I'd never be forced to choose between a treble and the World Cup. Frankly, I'd be over the moon with joy if either happened.

Charity Shield > England.

Club pisses all over the country.

I thought this was going to say United winning the league or champions league or England winning the world cup, and the answer would have been obvious even then. United winning the treble >>>>>>>>> England winning the World Cup

Im English and definately not anti the national team but saying that I would rather see United do the Double over the Vermin than see England win the World Cup .

United every time

Don't really give a toss about the england football team however saying that wouldn't wish them to loose a game just not that bothered if they win or loose

Let's go back a piece and work our way up eh?

For instance, if you could guarantee to me one of these two things:

England qualify for 2010
United win the Carling Cup

I'd take the England adventure down South Africa way no question.

Any takers among the English here on this?

United every time but I would definitely take england winning the world cup over united winning the charity shield.

Let's star a little lower down the chain and work our way up eh?

agreed

Not suprising answers on a United forum, and some here will be playing to the crowd

Of course United come first. But I want to see England win a major tournament in my lifetime. I wouldn't sacrifice United winning anything for it, but then again I don't have to, because the world doesn't work in that bizarre way

Not even a question is it really?

England winning the WC in isolation would be nice and all but comparing it to anything United win, even the Charity Shield Ralphie, is pointless for me.

I know it's my national team but I feel absolutely no personal connection with it at all. I'd watch it, want them to win it etc, but the feeling if they did bag the WC wouldn't register on the "fecking hell, we're the champions of England and Europe, get fecking in, I'm going on a three day bender" scale.

It'd be interesting to see how many of you choosing England over United are from the south? Supporting England definitely tends to be more a southern thing, in my view.

It's club for me every single time. I do support Northern Ireland of course as they're my country and always cheer them on when they play, but it's club over country for me always. The passion I feel when Man Utd win is 100 times what I feel when Northern Ireland win, just the way it is really.

United for me. It would be a fantastic story for the US to win the WC but then you'd have millions of "I've been a soccer fan my whole life" and more people around the world would hate us for reasons outside of politics and perceived arrogance. Football fans would hate us because the US did something in 20-30 years that most nations have yet to do - win the WC. And it would make the nation the big dog in the world's game.

Hmmm... tough call... but United is in my veins. Club football > national football.

Has anyone actually picked England..?

Utd every time but the prospect of a large number of the population going mad over a world cup win would be pretty class. Would also support the same team as some of my mates for once.

Actually, I wish England well... but that being said

1. United all the way
2. I can't spare the thought of seeing the likes of Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole x2, get the World Cup medal, They won't stop bragging and crying

I'd pick United winning the Charity Shield over England winning the World Cup.

I'd pretty much agree with this.

I was gutted last night watching Terry and Gerrard score for England.

The only pleasure I get from England these days is seeing our own lads do well. I think it's down to so many cnuts playing for the national side these days, if the personnel was different maybe my view point would be too.

I didn't always think like this, although it has always been club before country for me,

It's a bit unreasonable to compare United winning the lot with England winning just the one that is on offer. I'd obviously rather United win the treble but it's a silly comparison.

Some day, it would be nice to see England win something......

Some day when Terry isn't captain for a start.

In general, Club > Country, but in this case Country > Club.

United have been ridiculously succesful recently, whereas England have failed to do so. I would love to see England win the WC in my life time. So, all things considered I would choose England winning the WC over a United treble...because for United, success always awaits next season :D

If the question was Exeter City in the Premiership or England winning the WC on the other hand, I think I'd go with City in the Premiership
