Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

The Leicester players have symptoms but weren't proven to be exposed to the coronavirus and were told by health officials they just have a cold or flu and to self isolate as a precaution.

The Arsenal players definitely were exposed to someone infected.
The Leicester players have been tested and will get results tomorrow.

Treble-busters...

:nervous: :D
Yep indeed but tbh I was so young at the time that didn’t really come into it. I had lots of Utd supporting friends and they rightfully gave me some stick. They were so relieved after losing the previous year. Saw Tommy Doc on tv recently, hard to believe he’s still alive. He had you playing great football at the time. But that winning goal in 77, feck me that was so lucky.

It's the British government after all.

They're still trying to get the colonies under control, the coronavirus is small potatoes by comparison.

Watch them leap into action if it snows tonight.

What a shithole

It’s either going to be a master stroke or a catastrophe. My money is on the latter unfortunately. This evening my cousin was with a friend when he got a text from another friend who had just been diagnosed. Won’t be long before we all know someone whose been diagnosed and/or died.

The two biggest sports in north america at the moment- The NBA and the NHL- reaching pivotal stages of their seasons, decided to postpone until further notice. The attendance average across the league is around 18000 and 17500 respectively. The average attendance in the premier league is more than twice that, at around 38000.

I am not saying China hasn't stabilized it, but that a lot of what it says were not believable & the death toll was likely to be much worse.

The bit about the other far east countries getting it under control is interesting, & has been puzzling myself for awhile. When this virus started the countries most affected not including China, were Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan & South Korea. Ignore the latter two who for various reasons got out of control, but the others have somehow gotten it under control, which makes little sense, as most of them are the sort of places where an virus like this would thrive. Now, there were suggestions that the Coronavirus was like Flu & other viruses that are seasonal. How true that is I don't know, but it just seems strange how the viruses just stopped in those countries, & has never really settled in countries south of the equator, except when they have travelled in. I hope this is true & the damn thing is seasonal & slowly goes away around the world. Just have to wait & see.

Not that weird. These countries experienced SARS and MERS and have learnt to deal with these kind of outbreak.

Surprised at people being surprised. Once Boris stated earlier that things would go on as normal outside of football. Pl fixtures were bound to be allowed to go ahead (PL were obviously waiting on the decision). If people are gonna continue to be allowed to go to school, work, shopping etc and use public transport, why would they then say the football is off. No point picking and choosing. I do wonder what all the players think of this. I think majority of fans will brave it and go, which is their choice, although I still think they’ll be a lot of empty seats around.

I can't see anything other then catastrophe to be honest

In what world does doing nothing *stop the curve!?"... its farcical.

There’s still 36 hours to go before the proposed kick offs. So much can happen in that time, so I’ll take it with a grain of salt that these matches are still going ahead.

It seems incredibly irresponsible from the PL that they want the games to go ahead given what’s happened in other countries.

If the games go ahead this weekend in front of packed stadiums it's an absolutely staggering decision and one I'm sure that will be looked back on in years to come as an incredibly stupid and dangerous decision.

It's unbelievable

Shouldn't the full city team and even ours be in self isolation with the possibility that Mendy has the virus ?

And there you go, if you do it in combination with this I'm buying the science behind it, otherwise it's just pointless.

I really dont see how it is pointless to stop a gathering of 70.000 + 50.000 + 30.000 + 40.000 + 55.000 + 25.000 + 35.000 + etc et etc. I believe scientists will claim that this is not a good idea neither.

Its about not making the Virus spread fast so all the cases dont happen at once, and surely gatherings of numbers like that contributes to that, as scientist/experts say. Anything that contributes to a breakdown of the hospital sector is bad really. Its like the governments have forgotten how to actually lead and make tough decisions in fear of being on the wrong side of a popularity-contest.

Let's see what the end game will be like in some months when it (hopefully) has peaked. I guess there's plenty of approaches on both sides of the spectre that can be compared in death percentages when it's all over.

In Denmark we have had a rapid rise in contaminated people, the fastest actually, but I fear that it's mostly because we actually keep count of infections and keep transparency about how many are contaminated - not completely convinced about China being in an orange state neither.

Edit: Saw a documentary last night about how the chinese government freakin had squads who silenced reporters who shared videos of people getting their doors bolted, so they couldnt get out and videos of people and doctors in panic due to lack of oxygen / help. They also dragged people out of their homes. Maybe because they simply had to, but the situation of silencing the matter is scary as feck too. Right now Boris Johnson is pretty much holding his fingers in his ears, signing la-la-la, pretending he's in the Bahamas

Well this is feckin dumb. It seems we'd rather wait until it's too late before we act, instead of actually trying to prevent anything. Profits > people. Of course, all those profits will soon disappear when we absolutely collapse the NHS and face a widespread outbreak with businesses having to close and millions staying at home.

Arteta has it.... surely going to be cancelled. Hoping they do this weekend still (really just us against Spurs) but I cant see it

UK can't even handle snow, but want to try to show they can take on corona virus by continuing as though everything is normal

Agree with ROFLUTION and great post. I am so glad that the Danish Prime Minister has shown her ability to act and put people above money. She has closed almost the entire public sector. The population is encouraged not to meet more than 100 people in one place. So 25000 or 75000 at a stadium is a huge risk

It’s outrageous that politicians are exempt from criminal liability under the guise of “political decisions”.

Arreta being found positive, has to mean that the PL will be suspended, how can they carry on now , the whole Arsenal 1st team has to self isolate.
Anything other then the suspension of the PL , is irresponsible.

Yeah they're going to cancel this weekends games now surely. To not do it is gross incompetentce.

Spreading like wildfire among the public, and evidently the players/coaches alike. Yet all games are going ahead with full crowds

There's no fecking way they do not suspended now with Arteta testing positive. If they don't that would be just incredibly bizarre.
