Definitely not worse than Bale who was truly atrocious.
The two world record signings, atrocious

More charity from Ronaldo today. What a guy

His match was poor, his teammate do not trust him anymore and they don't wanna the pass to him anymore. When he has the ball he is wasteful, makes shit passes.

People would be praising him for ever though if he had the exact same performance as today but scores one of his trademark tap ins. He has sacrificed everything for goals to keep up with Messi, his team is paying the price for it because they needed someone to step up today and carry their team to victory and he couldn't do it because his impact on the pitch is minimal. His all round game really seems to have regressed as the price of his ridiculous output. Minus the goals, he is probably closer to the much criticised Bale than he is to Hazard. That said, they are all attacking players and goals are what they are judged by, so credit to him. I can't say I derive much pleasure from watching Ronaldo play as a neutral. There are at least two of his teammates that are more enjoyable to watch.

He only gets noticed when he scores, it's not like his goals are solo efforts a lot of them are fairly straight forward goals and he gets way too much praise for poor performances but they just look good because he scored.
Indeed. I find any attempt to compare him to that other guy ridiculous. He has great stats, but it is clear that he prioritises those stats above all, and is breaking his neck to keep up with a man who just simply enjoying his football.
Messi is clearly the People's Champ.

Had a look at some reddit comments about that video and apparently the kids Portuguese was actually good and had all the proper pronunciations so Ronaldo was being serious when he said it was good. Very rude crowd.

LOL, you guys believe these stories? I don't. I think Ronaldo is a gifted, world class footballer, but he is no saint. He is a selfish kid. Always has been and when he is 85, he will still be a selfish, immature child.
He was speaking Spanish.Had a look at some reddit comments about that video and apparently the kids Portuguese was actually good and had all the proper pronunciations so Ronaldo was being serious when he said it was good. Very rude crowd.
Really? I took it from here that it was PortugueseHe was speaking Spanish.
It was spanish, mate. Unless all the spanish words he said are the same in portuguese, which I doubt.Really? I took it from here that it was Portuguese

Huh? Didn't Ronaldo say in the video "he is talking good Portuguese"? Or did I misheard it?It was spanish, mate. Unless all the spanish words he said are the same in portuguese, which I doubt.
Yeah, edited my post. I thought he was trying to speak spanish as most of the words he said were exactly the same in spanish. But it was definately portuguese.Huh? Didn't Ronaldo say in the video "he is talking good Portuguese"? Or did I misheard it?
To be fair, there were plenty of articles sometime back about how Messi was the same with stats, etc. and how he belittled his teammates when he wasn't passed to.
He doesn't appear an arrogant prick the way Ronaldo does, so all of that is forgotten.

So what happened was he didn't get the service? All his team mates know that if they serve it up, he won't let them down. The mark of a striker is right place right time and he's got that down to a fine art.
I doubt anyone would be criticising Falcao if he was getting proper service and had scored 30 tap-ins for us this season.
I don't think you can compare them or their treatment. Falcao was one of the best centre forwards in the game for a few years. Ronaldo is among the best footballers of his generation and one of the greats of the game. They can't be judged by the same yardstick and one is miles better than the other. So what happened was he didn't get the service? Ronaldo is supposed to be one of the greatest players ever and people are calling him better than Zidane and Messi. So what happened was he didn't get the service? How the hell can you be better than both of those players when you need your team mates to set you up for goals?
The great players win matches on their own and drag their team to victory Ronaldo simply doesn't do it because he only cares about scoring goals by being in the right place at the right time.
Great players win matches on their own when their team is running out of ideas.
Ronaldo is not a great player he is just a great goal scorer.
His whole contribution over 90 minutes against Juve was 1 tap in, didn't take on any players, didn't create space for his team mates, didn't set anyone up. Instead he just goal hanged all game and was invisible for the whole match. That's not wrong. That's stupid.

I'm sorry but to me thats not what great players do, great players come up with something out nothing when their teams needs them to step up. He is hardly ever noticed on the pitch but hey he scored a simple tap in he must be this amazing great player. Great players dont hide and wait for opportunities they make opportunities for their team to win the game.
Football is more than just statistics though. I wont need to tell my kids/grand kids about Messi's statistics to explain how great he is/was. With Ronaldo it's all about stats. That's a terrible argument. There have been games in which Messi's been crap. Take for instance last season, the second leg against Atletico in the CL. Utterly rubbish performance by Messi. Sometimes even the best players are not in form or have a bad day at the office. Only a week ago Ronaldo scored 3 goals in a 3:2 win against a team that is quite good and hadn't lost at its ground for many games. He has scored decisive goals many, many, many times. Only the greatest forwards have achieved similar things. Besides, he's got probably more assists than any other forward in Europe this season bar Messi. But he's just a goalscorer.
Football is a game of goals and being able to decide games by scoring goals is incredibly important. If you can beat defenders at will but cannot finish the chances, then you are not as good as someone who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Ronaldo is the only player in the history of the game to score 50 + goals in 5 seasons and you come up with the claim that he is not a great player, as if football is a game of something else and not a game of goals.
Football is more than just statistics though.
Surely, but statistics could tell you a lot. They are about cold facts, not about interpretations. If Messi was scoring only 20 goals per season, no one would have consdered him a GOAT.

I agree stats are important, but the only stat people look at these days is goals. There is more to being a great player than just goals. Ronaldo doesn't influence games like some of the great players i have watched and i just personally think he is over rated if i'm comparing him to passed greats of the game.Surely, but statistics could tell you a lot. Why not? Maradona often didn't score more than 20 goals in a season.
