He'll score you a lot of goals, but he needs to be carried for large periods of the game. And even when he gets chances he won't take them and will waste free kicks. But, scoring goals is the main thing and he is still capable of that moment of brilliance.

Yeah like most generalizing comments, what you said is nonsense. His last season was anything but being carried by Real.

He's had a poor tournament so far on average though.

I watched Real quite a few times last season and he was poor the majority of times I watched them.

I think what he meant by getting carried is referring to the fact that without constant service from his teammates he looks useless. Can't beat a defender unless gets a running start, his close control isn't what it use to be, dribbling is basically kicking and chasing, misses an absurd amount of chances etc.

Rubbish again tonight. Really should have won it in normal time. It's twice now that he's missed that sort of chance.

The one that came over his shoulder on his weak side? It has happened twice in the tournament but is one of the hardest skills to do.

There is no way in a million years that it was worse than Sterking's miss against Russia.

Ye I agree. It's not an easy chance to hit it first time like that over the shoulder.

He's having an absolutely terrible tournament. Waving every time opposing player makes a challenge weather it's foul or not, waving angrily to his teammates to pass him wherever the teammate is, taking every FK possible from all over the pitch and hitting the wall every bloody time, missing chances.

Hope he gets the winner in the final. Would almost be even better if he also has a stinker too, just to annoy people.

Read somewhere that he's now the worst freekick taker at international tournaments (WC and Euros). Strange.

Eh? That ball is actually very hard to hit right.

You guys do realise that he doesn't have to "hit" it? Any kind of contact and it's in. He completely missed the ball, twice. The pass was even slower this time.

He's had a terrible tournament so far, I'm amazed Portugal are still in it to be honest.

Ronaldo's form can only get better so might stick a tenner on him bagging a hattrick or something ridiculous next game - then pray Wales upset Beligium

He's useless and so annoying. I still try to defend him when anyone talks that he's shite (just because he played for United), but I'm not doing that too often nowadays. He's not a player he used to be, my eyes hurts when I see his behaviour and how he wastes all the chances. How can the players play with him in the same team...

Because he's a winner

Because he's a winner

And that's why he's acting like a cnut? Only Ronaldo fanboys can't see how poor an annoying he's become. He's exactly the type we all hated when we played football, isn't he? I don't care about his 30 tap-ins he has in a season.

Not sure this is serious. He hasn't been great so far except the crucial group game with Hungary but Portugal would have been totally fecked without him. He missed good chances last night but worked quite hard for a super star forward, visibly more so than Lewandowski, and his all round game was quite decent. Only thing missing was a goal. There is a reason why Real want to extend his contract. He still can win big things for them, you know. He scored 33 goals for their last CL tropheys.

Sorry, I forgot this is a Manchester United forum and you can't criticise Ronaldo on here. If you do, you're a WUM.

You can criticise Ronaldo as much as you want. But the reaction to comments like "How can the players play with him in the same team?" won't be nice most of the time.

Why not if that same team wins? Obviously, his antics do not spoil the team spirit.

That's not true.

In this tournament, Lewandowski has constantly sacrificed his game as a striker to help his team. His workrate was immense, he carried the ball a lot of the time and was active all over the pitch dropping deep, going out wide etc. He always had one or multiple defenders going at him, was fouled a lot and often quite hard. He's also a defensive factor.

Ronaldo works hard in a way, but mostly in terms of bringing himself in positions to score. He contributes little to build up play and almost nothing to defensive work.

Their roles as the main man of their respective team are quite different: Lewandowski worked his socks off for Poland, but the Portuguese team mainly played for Ronaldo to score.

I agree. We could see this in the number of chances Milik had in the tournament. Mosty thanks to opponent focused on Lewandowski (Milik's goal vs. N. Irealnd) good example.

he is only a pretender of a footballer. he lost everything that matters when it comes to playing football today.
he turned himself into a striker that could've played in the 80ies.

You can say the same about the chances Nani had. He scored 2 goals, hit the post, etc. The notion that Lewandowksi opens spaces for his team-mated whereas Ronaldo does nothing apart from getting himself in good positions to score is utterly naive.

Descibes perfectly what Ronaldo was doing last night. Except that Ronaldo was pressing the defenders better than Lewandowksi.

That's what I wrote:

And I think this can't be denied. Of course Ronaldo's movement creates space for others (and he produced a great assist for Nani in the first game for example), but scoring himself is clearly his main focus.

Edit: That assist was in the third game.

And for those who think Ronaldo is not annoying. 98th minute, Nani heads the ball. Ronaldo who was behind him is angry and looks disgusted that Nani took his ball. But he's a winner, yeah.

Yet he always has more assists than Lewandowski.

Nah, we have to agree to disagree here.

Lewandowski is much more of a playmaker for his team than Ronaldo.
