David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Must be awful to be a Sunderland fan. Apart from that Phillips/Quinn season, they provide absolutely nothing year after year in the Premier league.
At least with Boro, they had that wealth of exotic star names for a few years, but i'm struggling to recall entertaining or good players there.

Then they sign one of the least inspirational managers out there, and it's just going to be an awful season. Only hope is that there are 3 crapper teams.

Jesus. 2 games into the season and he's already given up. This reminds me of "We aspire to be like City"
But he is being realistic over here. Big Sam took over Sunderland after 6-7 games and he was involved in relegation fight as well.
IMO he is just taking the pressure off himself and the team so that they can play better. Just like most managers shrug off suggestions that they'll win the title

But look at that above picture, he is so involved in the game. He really radiates passion and wisdom.

Oh come on! It's two games into the season! Jesus christ, give the supporters some hope.

He sets up not to lose rather than to win. And when they concede, hes kinda clueless on what to do as that was not part of his plan..
The defoe sub last week was typical Moyes stuff.

Saying that, he will probably end up beating United 1-0 at SOL and then go on about proving hes a top class manager cos of that.

He should be aiming for 10th-15th at LEAST. You gotta give the team and fans hope. He gives nobody any hope. Not even United.

Don't think any Everton fans would describe Moyes' tenure as an outstanding achievement. Only an unambitious dullard like Moyes would describe his work as outstanding.
Moyes did a decent job at Everton.

However he shouldn't even have been considered for the United one. What a terrible decision that was. In a way we needed that though,we needed to be woken up from our bubble where we could simply hire an unqualified manager to replace the greatest of all time and think that it would simply be business as usual .

But what does he gain by saying we'll be comfortably in mid-table?
Fans abusing him and calling him delusional, fans expecting a lot more and in turn putting more pressure on himself and the team. He can avoid the question but that makes it worse, as fans think he wont be able to stay clear of relegation

His heart isn't in it, heading for the quick buck.

There'll be newly promoted teams or relegation fighting teams next year in need of a quick fix. Not that he ever was one, mind.

Seriously consider it. Which do you think is more forgivable? Aiming for the stars and falling short or saying, "yeah, might get relegated this season, buckle up!"

Sunderland fans know they could be in a relegation battle, they don't need their fecking manager reminding them of that! They need some hope things might change.

I get that and agree with you there but for a manager who is short on confidence after 2 disastrous spells, he is just avoiding pressure being put on him

There was/is a section of supporters that thought he should have been given more time with us.

This would be a more viable point if he bathed himself in glory after he left us, but "uno..dos..eh, tres?" Dave hardly did that now did he.

Not trolling. I genuinely consider him a poor manager. It is possible for incompetent people to make it high up in big organisations. I've worked with enough of them.

Do you know any Everton fans? They consider Moyes a bit of a joke and were amazed when United appointed him.

I know many Everton fans but that is besides the point. For a team like United he is a poor manager but for the likes of Everton he is a very good manager. Sunderland are already showing a lot of fight against two very good sides.

Fascinating how Sunderland seems to enter every season in complete chaos.

How painful it is to be trained by David Moyes. Some torture for the fans and the players. Sunderland fans who were cheering for City, remember this day... Karma.

Some very unhappy Sunderland fans on their forum, particularly complaining about his comments on relegation battles after two games. Irony is there are others who are saying he needs more time.

It's probably more of a message to the players than anything. They started today thinking they would come out and beat Boro. Clearly he said something at half time and they scrapped like crazy in the second half.

My guess is that he wants them to start the season in that frame of mind to try and wrestle some points early on during their tough start. Too many times these teams leave it too late to start fighting.

This sounds remarkably familiar.

Anyone else notice similarities with them and United under him? The way they had the worst person on corners and were simply shite on set-pieces? The way they were so relaxed when needing to score at the end? The way you never got a real idea of any kind of game plan and the players looked lost? The way every player looked so low on confidence and the lack of desire in a derby was as minimal as it's possible to be?

Shit manager.

Nah, I just genuinely think he struggles to see Sunderland achieving anything more than a relegation battle.

Im not a Moyes sympathiser but hes in a lose lose situation. If he comes out and says "No we're on course for a mid table finish" he would be ridiculed.

He states what most of us, and Sunderland fans, think and hes still ridiculed.

All he has to say is that while it'll be a challenge and a difficult one to achieve, he's aiming for a successful mid-table season, even if that's more towards the lower half. That's not ridiculous at all.

Then again with it's true for Moyes throwing everybody under the bus, but himself.

No sympathy for that lot though. Still remember them mocking us after Aguero goal. Down with Moyes Sundeerland. You lot deserve that coming.

Surely his first half setup was to scrap points? McNair, Rodwell and Gooch in Midfield and the only remotely creative player was Januzaj.

Good grief, don't you get it? Some people manager you'd make.

How about?

"We all know it will be tough, but we'll fight every step of the way. This squad are fighters, they showed that last season under Sam and look where he is now."

Rather than almost admitting defeat before he's even started.

Good grief, what a loser he is. Anyway, after they took the piss out of us, the fans will get what they deserve this season. :D
